We observe "things" come and go; and then come and go,...,and may end up seeing our lives as a successions of cycles. Yet such a countertenor and ensemble may never come again.
This is an unbelievably beautiful concert, filmed in a superb setting with stunning colour and audio reproduction. I find the first bars of the Intro absolutely riveting in the way it builds from the single arch lute/ theorbo followed by the whole ensemble. Franco Fagioli perfectly interprets the music as always.. In the last aria he is so emotionally connected. The lady playing recorder was amazing too. I watch this concert daily. It is so inspiring, considering all the destruction currently going on around us . Absolute Magic!! I always look carefully at the various ensemble musicians and love the occasion smiles . It's obvious they love playing and also with such a great counter tenor.
J'en reviens encore une fois, je ne l'en lasse pas, tout est Beauté ! Mais il restait encore 2 airs prévus au programme (12 en tout) après Scherza infida : Vivaldi avec l'orchestre et "Dopo Notte" de Haendel pour Franco . Je suppose qu'il était impossible pour lui d'enchainer avec une aria aussi joyeuse , bondissante et optimiste après les terribles émotions et les larmes de Scherza......C'est ça ? Franco a sous estimé son émotion....
I' ve already commented on this beautiful concert but just feel the need to say again that the whole setting, colours ,lighting and the sound recording are all perfect. Couple that with the truly excellent ensemble and the stunning performance by Franco.....well, i just cant stop playing it and would love to have seen it live. This is one video to download before the apocalypse descends. Additionally another one to download is Cencic's 20th century setting of Carlo Calvo which is unbelievably magnificent.
