Not to diminish either artist but Fagioli is the Sutherland of countertenors. A vocal phenomenon who will likely never be matched. His vocal quality, technical perfection, and emotive communication are unequalled by any other countertenor, male alto aor male soprano in recorded history
How very sweet and yet already mature as well. He's indeed a good actor, you can already see that here. Right now his Arbace in Vinci's Artaserse has got me in it's grip for over a year; listening to the cd, which is wonderful too, but very different, is not enough; gotta come back here to watch; characters are so endearing, and his Arbace is so strong; you gotta love this man; he's so dedicated it is a feast to hear but also see him sing. Just read that there's a DVD coming by the end of this month, Wheee!!!
Creo que Franco Fagioli este año ya cumplió los 34 años, por lo que este estupendo video sacado del baúl de los recuerdos, en particular de su interpretación del aria "Cara Sposa" de Rinaldo - Handel es de hace 12 años aprox.. Al verlo y escucharlo actualmente, ver el artista excepcional en que se ha convertido y que ya era muy notable hace más de un década, se aprecia la experiencia, la dedicación, estudio, profesionalismo, madurez y respeto a la audiencia que le admira. Le deseamos lo mejor él en sus proyectos, carrera y para el deleite de los amantes de la bella música y del canto.

Incredible how much his voice has changed! Not to say that this is a bad rendition, it is great in it's own regards, but it lacks the warmth and richness of his later voice. He is an absolutely incredible artist.
This demonstrates his true musicianship by showing the developing voice and letting us hear how much more work he has done to bring us the full emotive as well as technical power of the music. He is something very special.

I think he sounds better here than he did later. In time, his voice got heavier and more bulky so that it didn’t have a smooth line. He still has many admirers, but I think this earlier performance is far better.
There is a real hiatus between the very good singer ( voice, style and expression ) and this poor orchestra playing as the orchestras used to play the baroque music fifty years ago ( no style, no soul and no idea of the eloquence ).
Une toute petite voix, un joli timbre mais très vite couvert par l'orchestre dans le medium et le grave. Entendu en récital à Montpellier, vraiment rien d'extraordinaire, j'étais déçu après toutes ces vidéos où la voix semble puissante et chaude.
