Welcome back and thanks for checking out another video from Yappybeeman.
I happy to share another great day with you as I remove honeybees from a home in Gadsden Alabama.
This colony of bees hadn't been there long. And with the main nectar flow about done, they didn't have much resources to put up in reserve. Although having to be removed from their new home, they were very gentile and tolerant of the process.
Everything went great. I saw the queen multiple times but never had a chance to grab her. After removing all the comb, I expected her to be up in the front corner with her bees protecting her. But in the end, I never saw her again. I assumed I had vacuumed her but I always look around the area to see if I missed her. This proved to be useful because I found her walking around at the bottom of the ladder. As I reached to pick her up,she took flight and I was able to see her fly back up near the hive entrance. As you see in the video, I quickly jumped up the ladder and caught her.
We place queens in holder cages so they don't get injured during transport when available and release them a few days after they have had time to setup in their new home.
I really hope you enjoyed the video and please consider hitting that "liked" button and subscribing for more of my bee removal experiences.
The rehome process consists of collecting the bees into a catch box that does not harm them, removing the comb they use to reproduce bees as well as store food. If the comb can be reused, it is placed in wooden frames and placed in a beehive. If not, they are given resources to rebuild in an apiary ( bee yard) out in the country away from future harm.
I was excited to have been able to catch and show the queen bee in this episode. Queen bees are a bit bigger and longer in body, as well as a little different in color. Without a queen, the hive can not reproduce and will surely die.
Yappy Beeman is a professional bee remover performing live honey bee removals in Alabama as "Alabama Bee Rescue" and relocates them to apiaries away from residential areas so they can rebuild and thrive as a honey bee colony producing honey. Yappy is an Alabama Beekeepers association member that has performed over 1000 live bee removals. Yappy with the help of his great friend and mentor; Jpthebeeman, a professional beekeeper , has learned many skills to remove bee swarms and honey bee colonies safely for the bees and homeowners alike.

I think there are probably lots of good reasons for a bee keeper to rescue a swarm. One, is that they have a much better chance of surviving. You can check them, make sure that they are healthy, if they happen to lose a queen for some reason, or if they have a bad queen, you can re queen them. If they don't have enough food or pollen you can feed them some, especially throughout the winter. You can make sure they don't get mites or other things like that. You can make sure they are warm enough if the winter is colder than normal, and if they aren't thriving enough to make it through the winter, you can combine them with another hive, to give them a better chance. They just have a much better chance at surviving if they go to a good beekeeper, and they won't get poisoned by ignorant people who just want them out of their house, or other areas on their property. Plus, if everyone 'just let bees be' and didn't get involved in raising them, then no one would have any honey, or beeswax, which doesn't hurt the bees in any way when people harvest it, because they know to leave the bees enough for themselves. So I wouldn't worry about those people who think you should just leave them alone. The rest of us know you are doing a good thing.

Thank you for explaining why bees are trying to get into people's houses and succeeding. Twice, my mom had bees enter different parts of her house. We have had some swarms in my neighborhood, too. One landed in a tree between me and my neighbor's house. She called the Bee people and they came and collected the swarm. Turns out they have a great business, they collect free livestock and then they rent them out to farmers. Plus they can sell the honey and the wax. Pretty interesting business model! Bees are so cool! And we need them!

We just keep tearing apart every original piece of our planet, and these poor beings have nowhere to go, and get killed for it. It's horrible!! I loathe ppl who don't realize that we cannot live without bees, trees, and so much more of our ecosystem. These animals pay the ultimate price for our greed, and our ridiculous wants and "needs."

These bees are so chill the home owners probably didn't care until they moved into the house.

Very nice little colony. I am afraid I am going to crush the queen if I grab her like that. I guess I need to practice with some drones! I've had a queen squeeze out the bottom of those cages with the bottom tab taken out.

A virgin queen might take a swarm off before she is mated, depending on the condition of the mother colony. They bulk up after they start laying. Perhaps you had a virgin queen?

Its so hot and humid out. You don't even want to step out of the house HERE ! I went out around 9 am to check the SHB OIL TRAPS oil levels. I was sweating to death ~ they been hanging out of the hives for 2 weeks now ~ The mosquitos will eat you alive here

Great videos'. My dad used to keep bees in Hampshire, England. Often during the start of summer they would swarm, the hives where in the orchard attached to the house, and you would have to chase them down the road to see where they would end up. Then ring dad so he could come home and collect them and put them in a new hive!
