    This is so inspiring! It was wonderful to see others appreciate the work that goes into not only cross-stitch but all handwork. I have been “collecting and rescuing” handwork for years and NOW I have some more wonderful ideas of putting them to use.

    OMG! This is so inspirational. It’s giving me so many ideas to work with my old Crosstitch that’s packed away not to mention all those vintage pieces of embroidery and lace that I just kept in my stash. now I have to go back and look at that medallion quilt video. Thank you!

    I love this! Thanks for explaining about lightest to darkest for courthouse/log cabin. I spend way too long figuring that out. Now I will forever have your words in my head. I also hate things to be abandoned in thrift store. I also pick up toddler smocked clothes that have stains on them. I try to recycle all of those things into what I call half sized twin bed quilts. Every child needs something like that to cuddle. I must confess that I alive to find the Christmas ones and I am saving them for a quilt to go on my bed. I also like to pick up clothes that have patches sewn on them. The ones from the 70’s are the best. Great video.

    These ideas are wonderful! I love salvaging old things tossed away. I'll have to look for more embroidery projects at thrift stores! I bought a framed farm pumpkin patch embroidered that I use for a fall decoration.
    I have been wanting to ask someone and thought you might know. I bought a quilted "former linen" tablecloth that really just looks like a quilt, but I felt like it also could serve as a tablecloth still. Silly probably, since it's thick, but it has orange and yellow colors and is so cheerful that I use it to pretty up the table sometimes. I prefer us not eating on it as I have 4 children (so it doesn't get stained!). Do you know what people do with old linen tablecloths made into quilts by chance? Or have ideas for me? Thank you so much!❤

    • @merrymabelmarket
      @merrymabelmarket  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I raised 6 children, so I can relate. I used to use a quilt on my table as a tablecloth. Then, I went and bought that plastic that they sell on rolls. (Maybe JOAnn's? - It has been years ago, but I bought mine at a small shop that was in my town.) You could see right through the plastic and still wipe off the children's spills.
      Best wishes!!

    How would you incorporate a crochet doily into a quilt. They would need to be stabilized in some way.

    • @merrymabelmarket
      @merrymabelmarket  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've done it. I put it on top of fabric that showed through. (Pink) - I sewed a grandmother's doilies into her twin Grand-daughter's baby quilts. Beautiful. I cut the doilies and sewed the cut part into seams. Then I used my quilt machine and quilted them onto the quilt. (Like appliqueing right on the quilt machine by sewing the doilies down.) You could sew them down on your sewing machine if you needed to.
