      I had one for just under 2 months, thought it was a slick phone l loved it. After enjoying it for a little bit my girlfriend at the time who had a touch of a temper 😂 was upset over something so stupid but that’s another story decided to punch me in the face then grabbed my razor tossed it out the window as she was racing through our local malls parking lot it wasn’t busy yet so she had lots of space to do a 180 and proceed to run it over, it was finished I was unable to find another one 😭

    As much as I hate to admit it, avidly hating every Apple creates and the image they represent with their products, they definitely deserve number 1. Maybe not in today's standards, but I probably wouldn't have my Xperia if Apple didn't come along and make the first touch screen smart phone.

    • @FrankieHiltz
      @FrankieHiltz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yea I'm aware of Palm and all that stuff, but iPhone's kind of created a standard in what a smart phone should be, which is why they deserve the credit there.

    • @bombardier420
      @bombardier420 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanted one when they had the super cheap unlimited data and text only plan back in the day. but I had a V, enV, and Voyager (in that order), and those more than quenched that thirst. worked great as a music player as well.
      More than anything I wish a top tier phone would come out with a full QWERTY slider again. I held on to my Droid 4 for WAY too long because I didn't want to lose it. been on my Droid Turbo for over a year now. Phone is amazing, especially the battery life...but typing on a software keyboard is still slow, cumbersome, and error prone...you absolutely have to rely on autocorrect.

    Say what you want about smartphones. Nothing is cooler than a flip phone. They even feel good flipping them open and closed to answer and hang up. The battery life and durability of basic phones are a lot better too. Believe it or not people were more social with non-smartphones. People talked when they were hanging out and when you need to talk on the phone you actually made a phone call. Now whether alone or with friends people keep their eyes glued to the screen. They're too busy being "social" with faceless screen names in cyberspace. Smartphones are a ball and chain if you think about it. They're easy to get addicted to. I recently bought a new flip phone and it's soooo good to take a break from all the app alerts and news alerts from a smartphone. And if you think you can't do it, try it. After about a week you'll realize what prison you were in!

      @alanmaier 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I went to the ATT store and looked at the iPhone 3G - bought the Motorola Droid as it was a far, far superior phone hands down. That phone was very high quality too. I agree the iPhone deserves top spot, but the Droid is what really kicked the Android OS into the market and blew away iOs by might years.

      I think they did that because they wanted the phones that had the most overall impact at the times of their release. I agree that the Droid really brought Android to the forefront but as a single unit it didn't have the same impact as the other models shown.

      @bombardier420 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jason Kirschner agreed, but the title was iconic. these phones were everywhere, and Id bet more people remember the droid commercial (or atleast that word) than whatever apple was running. it was definitely iconic, more so than a few others on the list.

    back in early 2005 the Motorola SLVR L7 was released on Cingular Wireless (now AT&T). It was the first cell phone to partner with itunes that would allow you to plu the phone into your computer's usb port and transfer over parts of your itunes library, while retaining album and playlist info from your itunes account. Previously, cell phones with mp3 capabilities required you to buy each song from the phones "music store" and it would only be stored on your phone. the SLVR had a microSD disk that could expand the memory to 1GB. And it had a web browser and really good camera (compared to most cell phone cameras out at the time). Seeing how the SLVR was the first time iTunes was integrated into a cellphone and how prominent iTunes was for the iPhone, I think the SLVR was more groundbreaking than the Sony Ericsson mp3-phone they mentioned that debuted the same year.

    awwwe1'' I adore the razr. I got it in 2007 for my 16th birthday and it was SUCH a big deal for me! I loved it so much!!!
    It came to a horrible end, though, lost somewhere between Walmart and IHOP on a summer trip 3000 miles away from home... and Mom and Dad. It sucked!!!
    They had to ship me my older Toshiba flip phone which I'd gotten in 2004.
    Ah, flip phones... Although they had limited blind accessibility, there's still a lot to be said in favor of their simplicity. Man... I kind of miss my razr, it was awesome!

    I had the Motorola Razr V3. It was good in it's day. my only complaint about it was the video recording totally sucked with it's 7 to 15 second limit. (depending on lighting conditions. Darker video = longer record time.)
    Never had a S-series galaxy, but did have the Galaxy Nexus
    Never had an apple-phone, and never will.
    Today, I'm back to Motorola with the Droid Maxx

    My first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy S3, and though I have the S7 now, I still really miss some things I could do with the S3, such as change the battery myself instead of having to carry an extra charger around. That was very convenient for trips to places with no electricity. I'd just charge up a few batteries before heading out, and be good to go for many days. Not to mention that it was quite robust, so great for sports, hikes etc. I wish they still made phones like that!

    Steve Jobs ALSO said that the tiny 3.5" iPhone screen was the 'Perfect Size' for people and that "NO ONE will buy a huge Phone!" (referring to Samsung's Note series which dared to push the envelope and make Smartphones that allowed a MUCH IMPROVED Web-surfing experience. Samsung KNEW what was to come and even after Steve Jobs, Tim Crook and all of the regular iSheep AND the iSheep 'Tech Reviewers' and Tech Sites (CNet, The Verge, WatchMojo and other random iSheep TH-camrs tried to mock (poke fun at) Samsung and their 'Humongous' Phones, Apple (of course) eventually gave in followed suit and pretended that they've NEVER said anything bad about Big Phones. In fact, the motto for their current gen Phone is 'Bigger is Bigger' (I know there's a HUGE lack of creativity in that and other mottos/slogans of Apple's of late, but.. The irony is still VERY APPARENT. 😄

      It's a black rectangle. hardly iconic of "all devices" of all time: a rotary phone (any make) is more "iconic". Hell, the floppy disk is more famous, years after it's been obsolete every one knows what it "means" No modern smartphone will be Iconic, they like TVs are just black or white glowing rectangles.

      me too. last good one was the Droid 4. I held on to it for years. finally had to give it up....getting hot, battery life was down to "dead by lunch", lol. wasn't worth it any more. I wish like hell a top tier level phone would come out with a QWERTY slider. I'd buy it tomorrow. hate this software keyboard shit. inaccurate, constant caps and typos, HAVE to use autocorrect.
      as a side note, I never thought anti texting while driving laws made much sense for coordinated people until I switched to a software keyboard. it's downright dangerous. with a QWERTY you can just glance down occasionally, and can pretty much type a whole paragraph without looking.

    I agree with your list for the most part (despite the #1 spot), but my most memorable phone was the Nokia 5510. I got it in 2002, and used it for over 2 years as my daily driver. With its unusual design, it was a welcome contrast to all the brick and flip phones back then. The full QWERTY keyboard unwittingly trained my typing skills for future smartphones, while the music player was an absolute killer feature that really nobody had at that time. I loved the idea of carrying around just one device for listening to music, writing text messages and making phone calls - little did I know that it would become a cellphone standard in the not so distant future! Apart from the special features, the core phone was really just a 3310, with all its snake, ringtone composing and picture messaging glory. For over 2 years, no cellphone came even CLOSE to my needs and expectations. If it wasn't for the rise of colour displays, I maybe would have kept the phone for another 10 years!!

It was so heavy that without wearing a belt it pulled my pants down, it looked like a remote control and it was incredibly thich even compared to other cell phones of its era but it was coming standard with a front facing camera, 60 MB integrated memory which before the avability of memory card was a lot, 3G, Java, MP3 and with 3GP and even Avi video playing capability. The A835 had a separate button for video calling which was the shit back in the mid 2000s because no other phone had a such a feature. Man, I miss that horrible brick

    I don't like iphones. pro Android in fact, but it would be absorb not to have the iPhone 3g at #1

    Wrong. The Samsung Galaxy S II was much more iconic and revolutionary.

      The 3 was more mainstream. The 2 had all the innovation but the 3 sold the idea to everyone that bigger screens were the future.

    My first phone was a Siemens A52 followed by a Nokia 6230i and then a Sony Ericsson W200 which I loved despite it only having infrared and not Bluetooth, anyone here remember how you had to put phones down on the table with the ports directly facing each other to send a song via infrared?

    Nokia N-Gage is pretty iconic, so is Nokia lipstick phone that had no keyboard, Sony Ericsson had a T65 with detachable camera, the INDESTRUCTIBLE R310 and how about Motorola Star Treck, and Razr, and let's not forget Siemens that had A COLOR DISPLAY on their phones like the S45 back in the 90s!!! And those tiny Panasonics and Nokias were soooo cuuuute!

    If we are talking about being iconic then it wouldn't be the iphone. Nokia 3310, all the flips phones and The brick phone is much more iconic. You guys forgot that the list is suppose to be "ICONIC"

      But the iPhone is iconic. And so are the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and Nokia N95. You guys have biased opinions. Just because those phones bring nostalgia, it doesn't mean it's the most iconic thing to exist. Fair enough, the Nokia 3310 revolutionized the cellphone industry. But I think we're forgetting the fact that Apple's iPhone is the reason why we don't need a PC to do many basic computing things anymore.

      so then really the Nokia 3310 should be number one. as its far more "iconic". Its not as revolutionary as the iPhone was, but iconic.... definitely.

      +Ian Appleby I'd put Nokia 3310 at #2 and iPhone at #1 or maybe the other way.. Doesn't matter.
      Both of these phones changes the entire outlook people have on phones.
