Thanks a million man. I am a smog tech for the past 11 years in LA. I have seen it all, but today i had this 2001 jetta equipped with ASR with no button. I was NOT able to dyno test it because it was keep braking on me. I was the fifth shop customer was trying with no success until i saw your video and it worked perfectly. You just made me $ 68 that i was about to loose due to not being able to smog that car. Awesome video.
When the dash light is on, it means the vehicle will allow the wheels to slip. When flashing, it means the vehicle is attempting to reduce power in efforts to find traction. When the light is off, it means the system is ready and reacts to wheel slippage.
Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on youtube for a while. I didn't find a fuse for traction control ONLY. Which is why I didn't even try and experiment that way. Most fuses were for multiple systems. If I remember right there was a fuse for the brake/abs system and the Electronic differential lock.
@jchangtorres The air bag light is just an indicator that there's an issue with the Air Bag SRS System. Since you removed the one or both of the front seats, which contain airbags in them they are probably not being recognized by the ECU. I would make sure you connected all the wires up correctly under the seats, and the connectors are not damaged. If they are both good. Possibly disconnecting the battery for a few minutes MAY clear the light assuming everything is connected.
Someone suggested t o remove the traction control fuse, I think that might be a better idea because removing the MAF while running can damage the sensor.
My 2003 jetta hiccupped on the highway and then started slowing down and died while it was slowing down the traction control light came on blinked twice i think and then the battery light came on and the car died and wont start now any suggestions? Bad battery or alternator? Or will the traction control not make the car start?
That's the color scheme I had in my 01 Wolfsburg. I bought it brand new of the show room floor never driven, used. A corporation bought it but never picked it up so they paid for it. VW Credit got $50,000 for that car. It was totaled and wanted to fix $19,500 worth of damage on a $24,500 car. They have me two deductible cheeks by mistake and I thought they were from two separate accidents
What's really funny is that our cars say 'Unleaded fuel only' on the fuel gauge, but leaded fuel hasn't been used in our cars since the 70's. You think that's bad, you should hear our cars ding...when you turn the ignition on, when you open a door. Because we need to be reminded that we're in a car.
I've got a button that lets me turn ASR on and off in my 2002 jetta. Light comes on and everything, would that work? I read somewhere that it's only secondary traction control though so not sure if I still need to mess with MAF. What do you think?
Was this a permanent fix or did the light ever come back? This light got triggered on my 04 Jetta due to a sudden jolt my car is a 5 speed and soon after my check engine light came on, I tried your tip and both TC and check engine light turned off. Thanks for now dude!
Some help!!! I have a 2005 GTI and the armcontrol got bad at the same time the light came on, now I fix the problem whit the armcontrol but the light still on ( how can I turn it off)??????
How can I help? As far as I could tell, my car was improperly manufactured from the factory. Which is why I didn't have a ASR button. I found the wiring harness behind the dash, ordered a button from a junkyard. Now I have a working ASR button.
just clip the green wire that is behind the passenger front side connecting to the abs wire and you can disable traction control and abs if that is what you want it is the truly easiest way of doing so but you will not have your abs brakes. Also not everyone likes ABS brakes like myself unless it is snowing, because I'm from New England. Boston, Massachusetts that's the only time i like using ABS brakes. But do not forget if you do not depress your recirculation button the brake chime that is the same as when you drive with the emergency brake up will keep chiming. Good Luck
@syedkumail1 I'd check the wheel speed sensors, chances are you damaged one of those drifting the Yaris. Could be a disconnected wire, broken sensor, or something else. That would be my best guess. You might have to get is scanned as those warning lights don't really tell you much.
BRother it looks that you know how to play with the electric side of the JEtta!!.. (crazy) however.. I removed the front seat to be clean and unplagged them, to be complete removed. By the time I placed back and reconect plugs (while I was leasing to the radio) and them. I start the car and ride it.. and the FRONT AIRBAG light is on.. can you help me to take the light off.. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
@XholdstillX THANKKK YOUUU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIMEEEEE! I should unplged the batery before. Thank you any way! .. The light will stay there.. however it's under my undertanding that the airbags will still working.. Thank you one more time for your timeeeeee!. Enjoy a great wekk .. and your family staty alway well
i don't think you turned off your esp, all you did was turn off your MFA sensor, and what the light is, is a engine code light, because the sensor was disconnected.
@MrFROOODO Check your MAF it could be bad. Why there connected I dunno, but it happened to a friend of mine. His light was on, and it was really the MAF sensor that was bad. Id suggest find a friend with a good one, test on your car, then buy one, there kindof expensive.

What if its on continually and never shut off?

snow is exactly the opposite when abs benefits you.
This is odd, I always assumed that MK4's that didn't have the button didn't have the system.
thanks man, how do you apply to 2001 s38l g202 fault-raw sensor?can i just disconnect/?
@syedkumail1

I believe it's just traction control that the button controls. You don't want to disable stability or ABS. Those might save you from a crash.
why your cars doesnt have a esp botton for the track off?

I think I have the ONLY MK4 with out a button. But this seems to work. It might work for other cars but I don't know for sure.

And then he drives away. And the light comes back on.
that just seems crazy for in my van, its a simple push of a button to shut it off

front wheel sensor
This is bs, what he unplugged was the air volumetric sensor😂
Got nothn to do with abs
unplugging a maf while cars running is a good way to lose a perfactly good maf
Did not work!
it's risky to unplug the maf while the car is on...you can damage that little 200$ sensor...
you wrong about no traction control so learn a bit
You are bad at grammar and punctuation, so learn a bit.
hahaha...smart! :D
