Chris Stuckmann reviews Dune: Part Two, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling. Directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The black and white scenes that everyone were worried about turned out to be some of the most iconic shit I have ever seen. Just incredible
Parts looked like Art Deco pre-WWII movies...it was a brilliant scene.
Especially when the sun turned the black dress white 💥💥💥
It was phenomenal
the overhead shot of the stadium was crazy
was whack
After hearing how great this film is I really want Denis to make Dune: Messiah and finish the trilogy.
He’s in the midst of making the script for dune Messiah now!
There's 6 parts it's not a trilogy
@@channelgeovanne they're talking about the films, Denis has stated that he'd like to do a trilogy, nothing beyond that.
@@newwwmoonI'm glad he's doing a trilogy and moving on. I'm sure he wants to do other stuff and not get locked into Dune for the next decade
I remember reading that he wanted to adapt Rendezvous with Rama as well. That'd be amazing!
As a huge fan of the book, it has been incredible to see Dune be adapted to such a high level of quality. I have not been this excited for a film since LotR.
This channel use to be a good channel until he stopped giving scores just so he keeps getting getting his film paid for and not upsetting anyone. Also giving late reviews. He even pronounces the directors name wrong

Dennis gave so much care to Blade Runner 2049, I had no doubt he would do the same for a book that was a formative story of his youth.
same!!!!
As a big lotr nerd that has not read the dune books: this is one the most well realized and engaging epics since the lotr trilogy.
This is the greatest cinema adaptation since Lord of the Rings. A perfect marathon material once the series are finished
Does the 2nd one have more action than the 1st one?

@@user-ve5ln5le9y I found the first one boring.
I just watched the film twice and honestly don’t get the hype
One of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen. From the seamless CGI to the cinematography, it feels real in a way that very few epics of this kind do.
The best news I've had in a long long time was when I heard Denis Villeneuve was set to direct a "Rendezvous with Rama" movie, it's my favorite book of all time and his visual style is basically the perfect fit for it. If anyone could make that movie work it's him.
I don't much care for any of the sequel books, so hopefully he'll just stick to the first one :)
Same here. With LotR and Dune now adapted so perfectly, Rama is probably the next book I would love to see adapted. It will be in good hands with Denis. Exciting times!
I’m reading the book for the first time now. I’ve just finished the “Dawn” chapter. It’s very good so far!
Years ago, there were rumors that David Fincher was going to adapt Rama, with Morgan Freeman playing a minor role. I always thought Fincher could have made a fantastic Dune movie.
But Rama is so boring….
Think ramas been in production purgatory for a while now
Given how much of the first film was exposition and table setting it's promising to think about what Part 2 has to offer.
Trust me, the books get better with Dune Messiah, I really fucking hope they adapt it to film, I hope the whole 4 book saga is adapted to the scale it deserves

Think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen...a must-see for this year. Villeneuve has managed to fluently condense a giant story and various plots into part 2, and not one casting seems out of place. The sound is (as expected) incredible, thanks to Hans Zimmer for going absolutely apeshit.

@TimmyJay-uk6nr that's not even what that video was about. That was 1 small part of it.
How lucky I am to have been born in 1965. Saw Star Wars 30 times when I was 12. Close Encounters the same year. Wept at the end of E.T. to start the 80s, then saw every film of note in that astounding decade, and there were so many that are now classic. Then a brilliant series with LOTR, Then the whole Marvel thing. Now the genius of a new generation of film makers where the universe is their cinematic playground, and it feels like things are taking off again. I'm so excited for this movie. Cannot wait for Villeneuve's Rendezvous With Rama and beyond.
I say we start a petition for Villeneuve to step in and rescue Star Wars. Seriously.
I think Star Wars just needs to be left alone. There's no need to keep rehashing the same property forever. There are plenty of variations of scifi fantasy to be had without beating the dead horse further. I say that having grown up as the biggest SW geek imaginable.
That's awesome you've been able to see the evolution of scifi and fantasy in cinema though. You may have lived the most desirable span of years in all of history, at least in the West.
I agree, Star Wars is just beating a dead horse now, along with all those other reboots of 80’s films. Let’s get some new blood in and develop some new ideas and concepts.
Villeneuve is already doing Star Wars. It's called Dune.
I'm obviously not implying that Dune is hyping off Star Wars. Stop your typing.
Star Wars doesn't need rescuing.
@@trevormoffat4054 Hyperion would be one hell of a piece to turn into a movie. The iconic Shrike, the incredibly weird mutated humans who cannot die, etc.
There was word going around that Dune 3 would be an adaptation of Dune Messiah and I think that would be a perfect cap to a (hopefully) perfect trilogy
Yea, Denis said in an interview he’d like to do it but that it would be his last Dune film if he did. I personally think it would be a great way to end the series. Chris was ahead of the curve in highlighting Denis Villeneuve early on such as the video exploring 'Enemy'.
He had already released Prisoners and Incendies. Thats like highlighting Quentin Tarantino for jackie brown after already directing reservoir dogs an pulp fiction

The first film was entertaining, but felt very much like a set up. This second film is pretty fantastic. There's not a lot of movies being made that feel as grand as this. I also have to give Chalamet some credit. He really stepped up in this movie. Fans of the novels may be put be off by some deviations. But to focus on that and ignore this movie is silly to me.

Gotta give props to Chris for turning me onto Villeneuve way back in like 2016 on this channel. To correct your intro; Paul doesn't prevent this "terrible future", he actually embraces it in order to survive, gain power and love.

He embraces the lisan al gieb prophecy but He does try and prevent the jihad. However, at a certain point, it becomes too late to stop.
This is the log line for the movie. The film studio marketing team wrote it.

These books are so underrated, Frank Herbert is a genius and a great storyteller. He leaves so much to our imagination while still building this incredible world of Arrakis. He even wrote the sequel, Dune Messiah because people were misinterpreting Dune. They get so weird but at the same time that’s what makes his books so unique and a filmmaker’s dream to produce. I personally think this should have been a tv series to get all the details in there but man do I love what Denis is giving us. Bless the Maker and his water!!
Dune is the biggest selling science fiction novel ever. Not exactly underrated.

So glad they did a reshowing of Pt. 1 near me, as I missed it in 2021. In fact, I never paid Dune much mind at all until I went through watching all of Villneuve’s filmography here recently. I’m hooked, feels like a modern day Star Wars saga, but with more weight. Could not be more excited for Pt. 2. Great review as always Chris 👏
Yeah, I used to be a huge Star Wars fan in my teens, now I feel like I've been given Star Wars for grown-ups, as some call it. Like SW it's epic, emotional, and totally immersive (you really feel like it's a different universe, although it technically isn't in this case), but more demanding, and with more complex philosophical and political ideas. Fingers crossed that the third one will be able to live up to this. Oh, and I have to start on the book.
One thing I love about Chris’s reviews, is how clear and well communicated his thoughts on the movies direction, cinematography, writing, acting etc etc are, but nothing is spoiled at all. I’m someone who doesn’t like trailers and I refuse to watch them if I can help it, but I can always count on watching a video from Chris and knowing what to expect from a film, w/o taking anything away from the movie.

Just watching this tonight. All I can say is WOW. This is nothing short of a sci-fi masterpiece. Actually though, masterpiece.
Few years ago during the promotion of "Arrival", Denis Villeneuve said that "Dune" is his dream in adapting novels but he would've had a hard time getting the rights so he didn't think he would've succeed it in getting it. Now that he did and fulfilling his dream made me so proud of him! 🙌
For all those people who haven't read the books; how come that nobody who praises this movie asked why were they fighting with knives 20 000 years in the future while at the same time mastering interstellar traveling (and who and how made that travelling possible, who are the GUILD NAVIGATORS, if mentioned at all)? Why weren't there any computers in that universe, any signs of technological progress apart from dragonfly choppers? Who the hell were those guys with black spots on their chins (Mentats), why do they exist? Wtf was wrong with that doctor in part I, how did he do all that, who was he? Who are all those side characters appearing for no reason, hiding behind big industry names, where is that universe, those 60 billion people who are going to be slaughtered in some sacred war, which war? Cliffhanger after a cliffhanger, ...NOTHING, no questions, everybody gets the gist? Has anyone asked any question after watching the movie about ANYTHING apart from ''wow, what a cinematic experience with magnificent special effects, IMAX rules blah, blah, blah'', where is the story, who are all these characters, where does the story end? Dennis made a glorious, pretty-looking, soulless empty shell of a movie which left viewers who haven't read the books baffled and in limbo, or frustrated for butchering the story. Those millions of dollars that they spent for marketing (great marketing campaign), and paid reviews will mean nothing in a couple of months, because nobody will remember this (just like Avatar 2 e.g) - it is simply a case of BAD WRITING with miserable editing and masterful effects and solid cinematography.

The background whispers you hear are Villeneuve's way of realising a major aspect of the books... interior dialogue. That's one of the interesting ways that Herbert tells his story... we "hear" the interior voice of many characters, allowing us to understand what they are actually thinking, even as they are saying out loud different things to other characters. A difficult trick to pull off without using overt voice-overs, but used subtly really gets to the heart of Herbert's writing.
Mr.Villenuve really understands both these books, and how to make compelling movies.

What really amazes me is that Villaneuve gets to make passion projects with large budgets, even though they don't always make money. His sequel to "Bladerunner" was stunning, and lost a ton of money. Meanwhile, he also made "Sicario" for $30 million, and it grossed almost triple that worldwide. How he gets to keep making these great movies, despite the relatively poor box office, tells me that there are still people in Hollywood who believe in quality. It gives me hope.

When I was watching this movie I had the thought, "is this how people felt when they saw Star Wars for the first time?" and I cried a little bit. Fucking LOVED LOVED LOVED THS MOVIE!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The fact that he's actually reviewing this movie tell us he liked it.
Facts. Lol
Go review a liberal girlboss movie, all your good at
Womp
PAID TH-camRS.... The movie is boring, it has horrible directing, terrible photography, bad acting... no idea what this people is taking about, dune part 2 is BAD. 👎
You must be a troll lol get a life seriously
We won't forget your terrible madame web video Chris
Im so happy that the biggest box office hits of the last year have been movies like Oppenheimer and Dune 2. Instead of shit like Transformers and whatever Jurassic Park has turned into. Gives me some faith in humanity.
Denis Villeneuve has yet to make a bad movie. Such a great filmmaker.
Dune 2 was the slowest and dullest turd of a movie I have seen in years. seriously flat and pointless. No chances taken at all. So conventional. bleahhhhh.
You think so??!
I thought it was pretty good but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't seen the first yet.
Our opinions seem to differ but I'm open to different perspectives of it, feel free to check out my own movie review! Thanks! 👍
@@StandStrong_MovieReviews yes, I think the movie was lacking in pacing and clarity about why things are under tension. Too much of the backstory that makes the story fun and interesting was left out, that some thing I put on the writers in the Director, my friend saw it, for example, and she was like wait you live in a future where there's lasers and spaceships and somehow atomic weapons are a big deal? Yes they are but none of this was explained… I think the movie zoomed past all of the things you need to know that make the story interesting
@@Cleveland_Rocks I completely agree
You don’t review movies. So just stop. You quit movies like you quit the Mormon church.
There is absolutely nothing I hate more when being able to tell the review from the face of the reviewer in the thumb nail.
I just blocked Jeremy Jahns channel because of this. He’s either grimacing or smiling in every damn review photo.
It’s obnoxious.
I quit you.
No one cares
Literally no one cares or will miss you.
When Chris gushes over how good a film is, I'm excited. Last time he gushes over 'Your Name', I had quite a set expectation on the theater. And you know what, they were met. Exceeded, even. This is why I trust Chris when it comes to this kinds content.
Ah yes, a movie reviewer who only reviews movies he likes. Lmfao Chris is pathetic.
Make sure you don't say anything negative about Hollywood.
I just saw it last night. It was incredible. To me, Dune 2 is to Scifi what Return of the King is to Fantasy.
Just imagine how incredibly hard it was to make this movie. I can not believe Chris has the guts to review it!
Ok the film was visual amazing..... Sound fantastic.... However I'm pissed they didn't keep the Alia scene in when she kills her grandfather and wtf was the spacing guild and navigators .... These are iconic scenes in both the book and adaptations... Why would you not include them.... Not happy 😢
I refuse to acknowledge how good it is because I don't know how this studio does things.
I'm 36 and I love when Chris is passionate about a new film. We have very similar views on movies and I can't wait to watch this!
similar views? so you dont criticize movies you dont like to and still call yourself a movie reviewer?
@@thejunk2045 he low-key criticizes movies all the time. If he doesn't say he loves the movie, it's probably not a good movie
It’s not a dating app ❤ lol😂
@@undefined7141 why you gotta make it weird? I'm married with two kids. Chill on me kiddo 😂
