Imagine you're a check-in agent for Spirit Airlines on a normal work shift, and suddenly a random guy with an English accent comes along and wants to check in a sausage.
That's probably nothing compared to what those check-in agents go through on a daily basis. Some have said that the Spirit and Frontier check in desks are some of the most dangerous locations in a modern day airport.

I was a Spirit member for a number of years until I realized that you basically couldn't use your airmiles. Here's an example: I was flying from Detroit to Denver, the Spirit base price was $75 round trip. If I wanted to pay with airmiles for the same flight, it was 20,000 airmiles plus $55. So why would anyone use the airmiles option??
Weird. Maybe you selected something wrong, but with my spirit card (which came with 50,000 points), I've been able to use point for Nicaragua (8,000 round trip + $73 in fees for a $250 flight) and Ecuador (which was 10,000+$73 in fees for a $380 flight). One thing is, the point system is I think really hard to manage without the card. The points don't seem to add up from what they say on the free spirit benefits page, and the $50 redemption fee to us the points (which is why the fees were $55 for you and not only $5) makes it hard to justify, but that fee is waved with the card
I’ve said this for a long time! My girl asked why I fly first all the time. I said by the time you pay for everything else is about the same price but better, international flights excluded. Thanks, excellent video once again,!
Same. Once I pay for everything I'd need to be comfortable in economy (tall with some extra pounds), plus food in the airport, etc it's nearly always within "eh, might as well" range of first class anyway. I used to fly a route for work where it was almost always $99 more for first class vs economy. I needed to check 2 bags which at the time cost $100 round trip. They tried to balk at a peon like me booking first class, but I made the point that I was actually saving them $1 on the cost!

The truth is that Spirit is great for these kinds of sub 2 hours flights domestically for a short hop. If you just have a carryon then it can be fine and its even better if you simply don't have anything to take with you.
Not really. By the time you pick any seat its literally the exact same price as United/American. Once you factor in the 40$ carryon, even if you don't select a seat you are still at 115$ as opposed to the posted American Airlines flight of 106.
I just did a cost comparison of a Spirit flight from WAS to LAX, with all the addons, a one way fare on spirit from BWI to LAX was $413, however a one way first class ticket on United from IAD to LAX was $560, that’s a $147 difference. To be honest with that price difference I’d rather just do United
I’m gonna let this secret out as a frequent flyer from IAH. When it’s high demand or even normal travel, it’s significantly faster to go through terminal B security and transfer to your terminal through the sky train than to wait at the larger terminals’ longer security lines. During normal travel periods, terminal B security is almost waiting for you. During peak travel, my average wait in line (excluding going through scanners) was 5-10 minutes. The longest I have ever waiting at terminal B security line was 15 minutes and that was due to short staff.
4:30 "and look like a fool" I'd feel exponentially more foolish paying over $300 for a one way flight from Houston to Chicago on Spirit than be seen with a giant sausage stashed in my personal item. 😂
I will forever admire your confidence to film on a flight with people sitting next to you, and in some dangerous areas that I wouldn’t go let alone film.
With Spirit and a few other airlines, if you purchase your ticket at the ticket counter (at the airport) it will save you an additional 20 to 30%. I do it all of the time and usually get round-trip tickets (no extras) for dirt cheap. Best airline ticket hack ever!!!
Are you purchasing at the departing airport on the day of the flight or do you make a trip to the airport beforehand? Many airlines will jack prices way up rather than cut prices to sell any remaining seats
@bert23337 No, I have always purchased my tickets several weeks in advance directly from the airport counter. The shortest purchase was a last-minute trip (3 days in advance). I still saw a ridiculously significant saving.
I like Spirit and understand their business model of a la carte flying. I think they get a bad reputation from some of the low manners customers who otherwise would be stuck on a Greyhound bus. But the staff, planes and destinations work just fine. As recently demonstrated, the legacy carriers are not immune from problems (Delta).
I fly about 6 times per year between New Orleans and Raleigh-Durham to visit family. I normally will fly Breeze or Frontier. One thing I did to save a ton of money was to pay for a checked bag on one trip. I packed everything I needed for a 4-day weekend into that bag, then left it at the family home in RDU. Now when I book a ticket on an ultra-low-cost carrier, I simply book the cheapest possible flight and show up with only my personal item that I know is sized to meet any dimension restrictions any of the carriers may have. I can now take flights between the two cities round trip for between $50 and $100 and not care about luggage, or overhead bin space. It takes a ton of stress out of the travel experience.
Spirit on August 16th going forward until their demise whenever that happens, are implementing a “new cabin experience” with 4 tiers. Go, Go Savvy (includes one carry-on bag), Go Comfy (includes checked bag, carry-on, and snacks. Middle seat blocked), and Go Big (WiFi, snacks, two checked bags, priority boarding and the Big Front Seats). Buy a Big Front Seat before August 16th because they won’t be available ala carte after that.
Yeah. The timing of this video was unfortunate. Spirit is transitioning from an Ultra Low Cost Carrier to a Low Cost Carrier.......Rather remiss that he didn't include that info as a footnote.
Spirit internet is a provided by Thales. I flew Spirit from DFW to TPA to meet some mates and I only paid $5 for Internet. I also didn’t have to pay for carry on as they have a size for personal items such as a backpack . I was missing the safety information card from my seat but I let them know and they gave me a can of coke the crew were really nice better than RyanAir if you follow the rules.
The nice thing any Spirit is that you'll know you'll always be on an Airbus with better seat width. I've done the Big Front Seat before with just a small weekend bag and paid $100 to go from BOS to MIA. saved me a good $50 over the next closest legacy price with a regular economy seat. Like anything, know what you're getting and travel smart. I was flying down to transport a car back up to Boston. Those 3 comfy hours of sleep were a huge plus
Hey Noel! - I have noticed watching your videos that you enjoy a good sausage now and then. Since most American sausage basically sucks, let me turn you on to one of the few exceptions: There is a company in Milwaukee, WI that has been making almost every kind of old-world recipe sausage you can think of for the last 150 years called Usinger’s. They have a website you can order from (they ship to anywhere), but be warned - their shipping can cost as much as the order itself. If you wait until Christmas time, they lower their shipping prices dramatically. In my opinion, they make the best sausage in America. 😉
@@68Boca: I have had many flights with beer in checked baggage. It have never happened to me. (Buys local beer on holidays instead of souvenirs, tastes a lot better than souvenirs).
when I go visit me parents in Florida from RDU, a backpack spot and 2 hours in whatever seat the give me is fine. They also send you an email to "bid" for seat upgrades, the minimum for exit rows is usually only $3 so I put in for that and I've won it each time. The economy seats they have are fine for short hops, but yeah, anything over that'd i'd opt for Big front seat. They are a fine airline as long as you know what you're in for!
You should of added up the cost with some of the "full service"' carriers. A United Airlines basic fare doesn't include check-in or carry-on baggage, you can't choose your seat and an exit row is $70 extra.
I flew Spirit back in 08 before they were yellow when I went to Vegas and the plane was super nice and clean inside. They were way cleaner and nicer than the American Airline planes which still had the interior from we use to fly back in the 80s and 90s.
I have never found a budget airline that is cheap. With all the add ons like you showed they aren’t cheap or budget at all. Thanks for proving my theory. As always love your videos.
The point is, you don’t HAVE to pay $300, you CAN fly for $100, or whatever in between, if you so wish. Can that $300 price on United be reduced that much to get you from A to B?
Spirit was actually the only airline I flew when I was making frequent trips between Tampa and New Jersey. They have a monopoly on Atlantic City airport which was much closer to my family and avoids all the hassle and traffic of Newark. The staff has always been great, the planes are fine for a short hop, and I usually get a snack and a drink or two. They do usually have alcohol but maybe not on a morning flight. I even flew them from Baltimore to LA with a short stop in Houston and that only cost $90 round trip. The stopover was actually quite welcome as I wouldn't want to be in an A-320 for five hours straight. The only knock I have against them is that it's a small fleet so if a plane breaks down you'll be in for an eight hour delay. The only airline that gave me a consistently terrible experience and once stranded me in Philly while holding my bags hostage was US Air.
We've flown several times on Spirit and never once had a single complaint. We've always opted to get the "Big A$$ Seats" so we can be the first off and our booties kept comfortable. It's like GEICO - We saved a LOT of money by flying Spirit!
@@redeyedmongoose2963 We bring our entertainment and snacks. Big A$$ seats are the only thing we pay for. You would be surprised how much you can pack into a back pack and extra clothes you can wear! They're also great for those of us who do but like to save our cash! I have flown my family of four twice on spirit for less than $50/person each, round trip. Buy at the airport. Stuff backpacks, use the money saved to check one large bag.
@@FAtoCPA Exactly! With 3 kids, Spirit has allowed our family to take weekend getaways that would otherwise have been impossible. The rule is the family gets a single checked back to share. All this denigration of Sprit is unwarranted. Spirit serves a niche in the market.
We flew one way on Delta and flew home on Spirit. Spirit had extremely long lines, tiny boarding gate, old plane with elastic netting for the seat back pockets and trays smaller than an iPad. The wings also made a loud grinding noise when repositioned. We spent 30% more on spirit. The experience was horrible. On Delta we had carry ons included, internet included, seat back movies/shows and games, and they handed out ear buds, snacks and drinks with no extra costs. My 6 year old who had only flown on a plane for two round trip experiences, got off the spirit flight and said “mom, let’s never try that again”.
Exactly. But that's also the point because a lot of people think all the airlines charge more and separately for bags so they go with whatever the initial cheapest is.
I love how it started by blurring the guy next to you on the planes face at the beginning of the flight, but the next time he shows he’s not blurred at all 😂
As a travelnurse, I often take food with me with never any problems... Although they sometimes do open my bag to see what looks like a carcass but it's actually a Cajun rotisserie chicken. I've learned to stay away from Spirit and Frontier. My girlfriend was in hospice and I'd flown her kids out to Washington from Indiana to say goodbye. When it came time to fly her youngest daughter back, I booked her flight on Frontier but the final ticket came out with several errors, mixing up her first name and my middle name along with several other errors. I immediately called to fix it and they wanted over $500 so I lost my $130 or so dollars. Reading the reviews on Frontier I saw this is a common problem and I've heard several people say that spirit will screw you over if they get a chance as well. I learned to just stick with real airlines

you turned this into a 'carry on' film with your 'carry on sausage'. For entertainment's sake I reckon you should always try to board flights with a sausage!
I think the biggest thing you are missing here, is that the United fare is only that cheap because of the competition with spirit. Prior to spirit entering that market, I guarantee you United was charging double for that same ticket.
Sometimes you can find gems with airlines like Spirit. If you get a chance to fly long distance on Spirit in the big boy seats for cheaper or the same price as coach on another airline, take it. It's much more comfortable, you're first on and first off, and if there's two of you, you don't have to have an aisle mate.

@@davidowen1506 yeah for that example I agree but in general I have found that spirit has been better at least in the flights that I have flown.
@@davidowen1506you could just not pick a seat and they assign you one.
You don’t have to buy a seat lol they’ll assign you one for free
If you can pack your stuff in a backpack (which is a free personal item) spirit is the cheapest option by far
5:06 Noel you knew what you were doing there 💀
I just did a cost comparison of a Spirit flight from WAS to LAX, with all the addons, a one way fare on spirit from BWI to LAX was $413, however a one way first class ticket on United from IAD to LAX was $560, that’s a $147 difference.
Isnt B for international?
@ every airport is different. At IAH, it’s primarily United Express.
All this and they still filed bankruptcy? Unbelievable.
People got fed up with their Scam and Dodgy sales tactics!
4:30 "and look like a fool"
I'd feel exponentially more foolish paying over $300 for a one way flight from Houston to Chicago on Spirit than be seen with a giant sausage stashed in my personal item. 😂
Brooooooo
He must try a box of sausages 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ending up paying more than first class. That's the Spirit.
What I like about spirits is that they use Airbus planes instead of the defective Boeing planes . That makes me feel more secure when flying.
bro has a why files t-shirt WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!!
I really appreciate your humor, it makes your experiences very pleasant to watch!! Continue to educate, entertain and have fun!!
I will forever admire your confidence to film on a flight with people sitting next to you, and in some dangerous areas that I wouldn’t go let alone film.
If they had an addon fee to get rid of the screaming babies I'd pay whatever they ask.
I think that's called first class.
When flying it is always beneficial to have patience and a sense of humor.
Are you able to buy for someone else? I have a family member who works at the airport but it's too far for me to make the trip to just buy a ticket
7:10 Anyone notice the guy in the background bang his head😂
Think that was a she 😬
I like Spirit and understand their business model of a la carte flying. I think they get a bad reputation from some of the low manners customers who otherwise would be stuck on a Greyhound bus. But the staff, planes and destinations work just fine. As recently demonstrated, the legacy carriers are not immune from problems (Delta).
It's changing a bit soon. Don't tell anyone.
@@the48thhawk74which part is changing?
@@TheMysteryDriverit is
Personally I prefer the Greyhound bus. Comfy seat can carry whatever I want, checked bag & absolutely the best an outlet for my heating pad.
Your giant sausage is a deadly weapon… 😂😂 couldn’t stop laughing
The collective credit score on that flight was 460
Those WiFi speeds are insane! I think it’s about the same as my house 😂
Cheers Noel ,Word of the day “Spunk Muffin”😂😂👍
Nah it's Sausage
😁
5:33 that mans name is NOT Malinda 😂😂
Its probably his wife 😂
They probably thought the sausage was some sort of... "sausage bomb"🤣
Noell: ‘we have to buy everything we can’
Spirit: ‘hey, wanna buy the plane you’re on?’
That’s crazy the the Sprit internet is like 10 times faster than my house
I'm pretty sure your internet legally can't be slower than 25mbps in the US now😭
@ well it’s 12 mbps lol. I do live in the middle of nowhere though. We were looking into starlink but the trees make it hard.
The innuendos are top notch 😂😂😂 deadly weapon sausage and spunk muffin 😮😅 absolute class 👌
More double entendres than a Benny Hill show!
The best was his fight in Australia from Darwin to Adelaide.
and the sausage was double ended!!
@@benv5812 spunkmuffin can deal with that!!
Is that a sausage in your backpack, or are you just happy to see me?!
10:45 spunk muffin. Noel, the Easter eggs for twisted people you leave in your videos always crack me up. Excellent work as always 😂
Glad you like them!
Hi Noel, just wanted to say like many young ladies, I'm glad you enjoy a bit of spunk on your flights.
Those 3 comfy hours of sleep were a huge plus
being from the UK .... spunk muffin .... i fell of my chair laughing
aha and with his sausage! what cold go wrong?
You can check in a single can of beer on Qantas. Someone did that and it arrived at the belt ok.
Said beer can would most likely explode (or at least rupture) due to non pressurization of cargo hold. So, another urban myth, sad to say.
@@68BocaCargo holds on airliners are pressurised.
I have seen that. It causes a bag jam on my system, I'm looking for a bag but yet I found a beer.
@@68Boca Not true, I've frequently brought back craft beers in my check luggage, and they've always made it just fine.
@@68Boca: I have had many flights with beer in checked baggage. It have never happened to me. (Buys local beer on holidays instead of souvenirs, tastes a lot better than souvenirs).
It's a good time when the TSA gives you extra screening of your sausage 🤣
we need more of those mad train journeys that last forever in mad countries
Oops, you're doxing yourself at 2:38! The blur didn't move with your scroll.
came to say the same thing
The fields were empty
when I go visit me parents in Florida from RDU, a backpack spot and 2 hours in whatever seat the give me is fine.
I lost it at the sausage bits 😂 Noel, Noel, noel.... SMH absolutely love your content and humor, man
Glad you like them!
The spunk muffin was the perfect accompaniment to your sausage 😆
Thank you for your service 🖖. Also thoes spunk muffins are actually pretty good, used to have them at our work cafe.
Haha Noel’s sausage and a spunkmuffin….. not the video I was expecting 🤣🤣
This was such a funny video. Thank the algorithm for helping me find this channel 😅
A video that contains a spunkmuffin and Noel’s sausage, if I tried to explain that I watched this on TH-cam, no one would believe me 🤣
😂
I don’t see how, considering the numbers that he posted you must fly naked with no baggage in the back of the plane
@@redeyedmongoose2963 We bring our entertainment and snacks. Big A$$ seats are the only thing we pay for. You would be surprised how much you can pack into a back pack and extra clothes you can wear! Love the way you have a go at the odd and unusual…love the Spirit add ons. The whole thing was a fabulous and funny ep to watch. I love your work ❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Low-cost airlines are great for us who don't make a ton of cash. We just have to pack tight.
Got any sausage transport on a budget advice?
@@JeffBilkins show it off to the security guards, it is a nice sausage and maybe they will let you skip the line with it
They're also great for those of us who do but like to save our cash!
@@WalterEKurtz-cr6hm hell yeah my guy! Glad to see another travel hacker. Wife and I save our $$$ and points for the trips without kids.
People who fly Spirit go for,the low base fare and would never pay for all the extras - that defeats the purpose! Makes no sense.
Exactly. But that's also the point because a lot of people think all the airlines charge more and separately for bags so they go with whatever the initial cheapest is.
It’s for the vid 🤦♂️💀😭
I'm proud of your sausage. He made it to Chicago!
This reminds me of emails I get from a British friend, he starts out by saying, "Hello, Sausage!" I'm American and live in the USA, but I know what this means. :-)
"I HAVE A SAUSAGE AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO USE IT! TAKE US TO CUBA!" Luckily he wasn't carrying anything REALLY deadly, like pudding.

I think the biggest thing you are missing here, is that the United fare is only that cheap because of the competition with spirit. Prior to spirit entering that market, I guarantee you United was charging double for that same ticket.
will united make their tickets higher again?
Your previous search was for Helsinki. Interesting... : )

Sorry, Had to.
Hopefully someone could reserve another big front seat for the sausage next time.
