    Man your lucky no front license plate is needed. Keeps the front clean and that area free for mods.
    I’m thinking the refreshed can handle some 6-8” slim lights up in the new grille.

    Hey Don, great video. I was wondering how you connected the DRL to function separately from the actual light. Thanks

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The light bar has 3 leads. One for white DRL, Amber DRL and the Main Light. The harness has a switch and relays to select each light independently. I chopped of the switch and ran it to my auxbeam panel.

    if you had the silverado with the custom front, I would say add the grill amber lights. since you don't have that and already have glow emblem, I say you dont add it.

    Do you know if you can put that light bar on the 3.0 diesel. Really like the look of the new one. Good job as always.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technically it might, but you’d be blocking the airflow to the intercooler. In the Rough Country light bar install I explain I replaced my flat front panel with the 3.0 diesel one since the cut out is perfect for a light bar

  • @caseysathan

      Not in the slightest. The DRLs are no brighter than the factory headlight DRLs

      Hey I just got my new diesel version of the lower valance grille today for my light bar project, curious did you ever consider the curved strands siberia 22? The subtle curve seems like it would match up nicely but wondering if the mounting point would be affected.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did but chickened out since I knew the RC looked good and it was flat.
      For me I can rarely see these mods in person before making a decision, so I sometimes play it safe

    • @_____mh
      @_____mh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know, we're grateful you're the sacrificial lamb on these projects before we commit to them! I came back to this video to see where you mounted because the curved one would be slightly shorter length overall and not sure if it would reach so I'll prob chicken out myself and go straight.

  • @quintano20

    I was just wondering how did you install the DRL amber lights. I do have the 42 inch version of this and trying to figure out if I can just attach the amber DRL lights to the fuse box. I like the DRL light to auto turn on when I start my truck.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Run a fuse tap to the DRL fuse or tap the DRL wire with the Amber wire for the light bar.

      @@Donslife Thanks for the quick reply, I was thinking that too, did you just straight up connect the main led bar wire to the auxbeam switch panel? I do have the auxbeam 8 switch panel, and planning to connect it the 30 amp connector on the auxbeam.

    Is there a way to wire the light bar the the 8 gang panel and also have it come on with the high beams?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There certainly is. One way involves wire taps, a relay and a diode. A car audio install shop or vehicle modification shop should be able to do it.

  • @georgegarcia4805
    @georgegarcia4805 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Don, is each DRL on it’s own switch? Or If I dont have/use the aux beam would each drl require it’s own relay that runs to is own switch in the can? Essentially using 3 relays, one for the actual beam and then one for each drl color. Sorry I’m trying to be really clear but I don’t know if I was. Thanks

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว

      The way I have it is each DRL and the main flood on it’s own switch using the relays that are built into the auxbeam switch panel.
      When you go to purchase a strands light bar, they offer the proper harness/s as an add on with the relays and switches. I have another video with some cube lights from the same company that demonstrates an install with the optional harnesses. I will link it here : th-cam.com/video/SChkEK-RlUE/w-d-xo.html

    Nice install Don! How much did it improve your night time visibility?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Compared to the first light bar they are similar in output. There is a noticeable increase in light's flooding the area in front of the truck compared to the factory headlights (High and Low) which are also very good. Overall it improves nighttime visibility but it is only half the size of a the big 42" light bars.
