After replacing my pcv valve, I found that the hose leading from the pcv valve was so soft where it connected to the nipple on top of the engine, that the vacuum from that nipple was collapsing the hose in on itself and blocking the suction. Replaced the Honda hose with a 16" piece of pcv hose sold by the foot at an auto parts store. This was on a 2009 Honda civic with 220,000 miles. Thank you so much for your videos. I have been able to maintain my Civic and have learned a lot about cars because of you!

Nice clear video, good editing. My 2007 Honda Civic LX has around 170 thousand miles. I have owned it since new. I was recently told mine needs PVC replaced with $300 estimate. I have the factory Honda Service shop manuals that said to squeeze the tube to test the valve, but tube is so hard I couldn't squeeze it. I tried to order replacement PVC tube and was told no longer available. Not long ago I asked dealer to replace the transmission filter and was told my vehicle doesn't have a transmission filter, so I found it online and replaced it myself. The transmission filter was buried under the Throttle body and well mounted on a solid bracket. I recently replaced the throttle body myself finding the throttle body was affordable online. Thanks for doing this video.

Followed your instructions 100%. Except I took off the front cowl cover. This is my 1st attempt on PCV replacement. The original didnt come with the washer but i installed the newer oem pcv valve with a washer anyway. I was a bit worried when applying the specified torque because it was slipping a bit, then i realized its because of the washer lol. I stopped at 32. Thank you for this nice & clear video Danny. I swapped the pcv valve on my 2006 Civic at around 240k km (150k miles) purley as a preventative maintenance measure. There was no particular concern other than a bit of oil consumption. The oil consumption was unaffected by the new valve. Now the car has 395k km (246k miles) and it running great with the same replaced pcv valve. It consumes about 2 litres of oil per oil change interval, which is reasonable for its age IMO. I used a Honda oem part. Considering Honda has no service interval for PCV valves, my experience is that once or twice in the life of the car is plenty frequent enough as a preventative maintenance measure. At least for a Honda. I have a 2010 Odyssey that has its original PCV valve and has no issues other than, again, some age related oil consumption (about one litre per oil change interval). I'm replacing the valve preventatively now at 234k km (146k miles) with a Honda part, while the valve cover is off, and don't expect to do it again in the life of the vehicle barring any obvious issues with the part.

@@dannysdiygarage I've been into cars on an armature level since 1998. I'm only now researching just how important the pcv valve is. Especially, especially in modern cars. I had noticed my oil was getting black really fast, like within 300-400 miles. That was my first sign. I also noticed there was some hesitation on cold start in the morning. Then during warm up I could feel an ever slight sorta misfire. Even performance felt a bit off, and my MPG had dropped slightly. Over a week now with a new pcv valve, and fresh oil change and what a remarkable difference. I'll hit 60,000 miles by the end of the week, and she still feels like brand new. I realize 2019 isn't all that old, but I've been meticulous on maintaining the car. So I can tell when even the slightest thing isn't right. I'm now spreading the word to everyone I know to have their pcv valve changed. Especially if over 50,000 miles. With how inexpensive they are I don't see why not replacing them even once a year would be an issue. Especially on the honda L15B7 engines with DI and turbo charging, they're under a lot of stress. Personally I will be making this a once a year thing. I do a transmission drain and fill once a year, 2 air filters a year, plugs every 2 years, cabin air filter once a year, along with a bunch of intake valve cleanings before my oil change. I switched from factory oil filters to Baldwin, or Purolator boss ever since finding out fram makes the honda A02 blue filter. The company ' FULL ' makes a great oil filter as well. Keeping the throttle body clean, along with the MAF and MAP sensors is also part of my yearly maintenance program. My goal is to keep this car for 30+ years. So I've taken it on myself to give it the best. Just replaced my brakes finally, and while I was at it I changed my brake fluid. I changed out the factory DOT3 for a 70,000 mile DOT4. Which is completely fine to use. Just check your cap before changing the brake fluid. I've run nothing but castrol edge or castrol GTX full synthetic since new. As a castrol fanboy I hope it's helping to keep the internals clean and protected. I have extreme automotive OCD 😂, like underneath the car cleaning areas people will never see ocd. Or removing the inner fender liners, cleaning the inner fenders, spraying them with fluid film. Then cleaning both front and back of the liners, and using a quality plastic restorer before reinstalling. Any bolt, nut, or screw that's even remotely rusty or rusting I'll replace. Often with better quality where possible. I've detailed cars for over 20 years as well, so I keep my honda spotless and protected inside and out. Anyway, great channel sir, and keep up thr great work!!!
