- I'm so happy it works and now I can use this on all future television troubleshooting. This is a super solid piece of testing equipment and I'm glad it came from a very low hour environment. Looking forward to using this in future videos!

Diodes? Failures? BTDT.
When I worked in the regional service department of Sencore in the early-mid 1960s, we had major recalls of the PS163 Dual-Trace Oscilloscope.
It turned out that the high-voltage divider diodes for the CRT high voltage were the cause of the failures.
Once it was determined that the supplier had given an under-designed product from whatever, I could get my favorite scope working in fifteen minutes with a new replacement anywhere in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or New Jersey. Just give me a soldering iron!
Your cats seem fascinated by it.
They're fascinated in the packing peanuts, plastic, and new smells. They're my helpers.
Nice, I hope it keeps working! I am having problems with the power supply in mine. I would also love to find a schematic!
I know Shango066 has a ton of experience with either this or a very similar unit; he might have an idea or two as to the issue you had with the diode.
Hello Jack
Was the diode part of a 4 diode bridge rectifier? Just curious.
I'm not sure, I can't find a schematic of the set online anywhere.
@@televisionforever It's the only thing I can think of the diode being used for, but on the other hand, I would think that if it was and you removed it, the unit wouldn't have full wave rectification and wouldn't work properly
@@Rangerman9404 I agree, the last thing I expected was for it to work properly and it did!
@@televisionforever You don't need a schematic. You can easily trace the local wiring at that diode and figure out what it's for, and what's going on. You've got a short somewhere after that diode, and you can fix it probably quite easily.
