Day 2 of our winter weekend tour of Switzerland starts with temperatures of 0 Degrees! We begin our motorcycle tour with a ride through the most scenic part of Switzerland - the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
Stopping for coffee at the best coffee shop in Lauterbrunnen we warm up before riding into Grindelwald to find the best view of the Swiss Alps in the Ski resort town of Grindelwald.

Hi, yeah they do a digital version of the card so anyone can join regardless of home country. Be sure to use the link as it’s literally half price for the 12 months. The website is also available in English which is handy. If you do get one just be sure you get a confirmation from the actual hotel (can take a few days after you request the booking through Hotelcard). We always put in the dates and filter 50%, hit map view to find where the best deals are. 😎👍🏻

Your photography skills and production techniques have evolved into an absolutely perfect blend of riders / pillions eye view, stunning scenery and informative commentary / banter whilst still maintaining that all important feeling of being present in the moment on the bike. The ambient sounds contribute so much to the finished video that the end result is as realistic as it could be made to feel without actually being there. The quick fire costs commentary as you go along also add benefit to folks looking to do similar. We are so looking forward to our Alps trip in June but hope it's not as damp as last year. You're very welcome, if you need more info on the Hotel card let us know -we tend to put in our dates and then filter 50% to get the best deals. Just be sure to reserve in advance so to give the hotel time to confirm (booking is not confirmed via the website but my the hotel via email) and use the like to get the half price membership. There are also hotels in Germany, Italy, Austria and France available .

Tip: Without entering a country, we first search our dates, then filter 50% reduction, click map view and see where we could stay -this way you get the maximum benefit. Just be sure that you get a confirmation from the actual hotel (and not just the request has been sent email).

The Swiss alps never disappoint! Thank you for this mini tour of this part of Switzerland. I stayed in Wengen for a week about 25 years ago and did the tourist thing, up the jungfraujoch, visited Murren and a few other places.

Stayed in Lauterbrunnen for a week around 17 or 18 years ago on a snowboarding trip. We arrived in the dark and I remember throwing the curtains back in the morning to be greeted with the spectacular view of those, nearly sheer, cliff faces. It blew me away and I've always wanted to go back. Maybe I need to plan it into a trip in the next year or two! Thanks for sharing this vid... really enjoyed it 😊😊
Wow that must have been a nice surprise! That might actually be the best way to experience it instead of gradually seeing it 😊. It’s a special place for sure and I dint think it’s changed much over the years (apart from the amazing new gondola in Grindelwald). You won’t regret visiting again that’s for sure 😎👍🏻

That ride into Lauterbrunnen is something special . I lead a group of 12 Harley’s on a tour in 22 and their faces when we arrived were a picture . We stayed at the Horner Pub near to the waterfall but normally I camp at the camping Jungfrau .
Amazing area that everyone should visit at least once in their lives .

Your ride brought back some fond memories of the times I have ridden (summer) in your beautiful country. I placed my Dad's ashes up on top of the Schilthorn (1995), along with a few other spots I thought he would like, as he loved Switzerland & the mountains. You are very lucky to live in such a place.

Spectacular scenery; really like your various camera positions, far preferable to the 360 degree cameras that many bikers use as I personally don’t like the distortion. 🇬🇧

Really beautiful the Swiss Mountains. In this region I was skiing ⛷️ when I was young. But now I can't imagine it's cold around me. 😂
Yeah the Swiss mountains are fantastic and always a treat to visit. It's actually our favourite resort to snowboard 😊. hehe I guess once you get used to the nice warm temperatures cold is hard to imagine 😂

Thanks -it was great to be out and about again. Maybe there will be a second winter freeze but at the moment the mountain looked more green than white 😳. Sad to see such little snow.

What an amazing episode. The goal for the summer is the Swiss mountain passes. Just got the t-shirt with the 16 mountain passes and a black beanie with the mail yesterday(the beanie was warm and comfy in the snow today). Nice ride....yet more places for me to visit,.....😊 if i ride down to Basel in Dec or Jan i have Gerbing heated jacket and gloves these last 3 years, did it without for many years couldn't believe why i didnt do it sooner

Probably wouldn’t recommend heading to switzerland in the winter as the weather can be unpredictable but sounds like you are well prepared for the cold. Yeah I did without a heated vest for many years unconvinced that they were necessary -within seconds of plugging my vest in I changed my mind instantly 😂😂.
I think we should look at heated gloves too.

Been to Switzerland many times in winter, my work arrangement gives me 5-6 weeks free in Dec/Jan so i come down to Basel for Xmas or New year, yeah sometimes its tricky but ok if you are careful, ....once i had the heated jacket the gloves were an easy next step, makes riding in lower temps much nicer
That's a great arrangement! Nice to able to a have a decent chunk of time off 🙂 Basel is a bit of a building site at the moment but it should look good when they are finished (sometime in 2026)

Hi, yeah one of our favourite places In Switzerland! No we don’t have winter tires but we waited for the sun to get highway before we left the hotel (good excuse for a lie-in 😁) yeah the areas in the shadow were a bit slippy so we took it easy and towards the end of the day it was getting skippy again -hence we jumped on the motorway again.

Morning from sunny Northumberland, we are heading to the same location in June ( 1 week down through Germany, 1 week in Switzerland and another week back up through Germany heading home ) so this was an interesting video, one thing I will mention though is the lack of insulation around your necks given all the other bits of winter gear you have on, a simple neck buff would have surely helped in those low temps ? all the best.

Funny thing is we had buffs with us but forgot to put them on! 🤪, although for most of the time we were only doing shorts trips on and off the bike so it was just the odd time in the shade when the cold hit us.
Perhaps you've already seen but we also have a Germany playlist that has some nice locations n the Black forest you might be interested in.

A great couple of Episodes Guys! Absolutely top drawer on the drone work. I went there in 2010 and it was as you say spectacular. Is it normal to be that green this early in the year?

No normally it’s not that green in January so perhaps we are looking at an early season this year, who knows maybe even the passes will open early.

Lovely part of the world but I’ll stick to Summer, last time I was in Switzerland I was passing through from Basel, aiming to ride the Routes de Grande Alpes on my GSA. Unfortunately it was so wet in late June 2019 I gave up due to poor visibility and had a lovely ride home via the Massif Central. Just a quick question, how do you share your lovely chit chat on the camera?😊

Hi Jim, which Mic did you buy the Mic1 or the Mic2?

Thank goodness for that, the Mic 2 is not working well. It really depends on what lavier mic you are using (if any).
Just adjust the microphones (transmitters) until you are not hitting the red. Start with -3 and keep going until you are happy with the audio. It’s very much trial and error as there are lots of influencing factors.

Why would you even want to try this? I have done Switzerland by car duriing Summer and Winter and one thing is for sure; I would never even try it on a bike in the winter. The fog, the wet slusch, the danger of an oncoming car sliding into you! Never!
We live here in Switzerland, so we can monitor the weather. Like we said there was a warmish spell and it hadn't snowed in a long time so we were able to have the weekend in this area. Like we also said in the video we don't suggest anyone journey here especially in the winter as the weather can change rapidly in days, but if you already live here one can take advantage of the nice weather.
