I try and make an oil filter inspection video every Friday on this TH-cam channel, Thank You!
Both are decent, but I think there are better choices out there.
Both are fairly good filters but i would knock the AC for sloppy glue and the Bosch for the baseplate "grooves" !
The Bosch Premium over 10 years old, made Nov. 2012 by Purolator. ACDelco is new production, hencho en Mexico, a "no bueno" for me. Bosch Premium slightly more media area, superior silicone adbv and made in US, so it is my choice here. Unfortunately, M&H has seen fit to move new Bosch Prem. production to Mexico too🙁and latest you have cut open have sloppy quality compared to US made. Thanks for vid.
You're Welcome faxmen09👍
Which one would be good to buy? I have to order from the US anyway since I am from Germany and I can not get those parts local
@@hakaluku If the Bosch Premium still made in the US, I would totally recommend it. But, seems production has been move to Mexico and some of those have looked sloppily built. Because of BP coo change, not really enthused by either here. I guess I would take the ACDelco here.
The AC Delco filter looks like the old standard STP filter made by Champ. The Bosch looks like the older Purolator filters. I would pick the Bosch mainly for the better filter material. They both look like they would do an OK job of filtering but there are better choices out there.
About what I come to expect anymore from USA made filters sadly. Sloppy mess inside with the glue. Bosch wasn't as bad but still had some mess. Thanks for the comparison video!
You're Welcome👍
Think that white stuff is corn starch or talc, which they bathe the rubber in to keep it from sticking to itself & the molds.
AC has too much glue. Hey Whip, I think that white on Bosch rubber is a substance to keep it from sticking to mold that made it.
Yep, that makes sense, Thanks!👍
@@WhipCityWrenchertalc or silicone powder or wax powder
Glad you took apart the AC Delco since I use AC Delco part number PF63 for my truck. Thank you for great video WhipCityWrencher keep up the great videos
You're Welcome WrenchingMafia👍
Thanks!
Happy weekend friend. Let see what you have today 👍
Hi Christina, Thanks!
Happy weekend to you as well!👍
Great job Pete
Thanks, Dwayne👍
I appreciate your research 👍
Thanks, Bo👍
The Bosch has the edge in features with a better media rating.
Loose glue is a deal-killer for me. Other oil filters don't have junk like that which might get sucked down the bypass valve (when a bypass valve is relevant, those models) during a very-cold start or cold-oil engine revving.
Good video Pete. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃
Hi John, Thanks!👍
Thanksgiving was great! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well!😊
Both the Mexican AC Delco & the Bosch got somewhat sloppy glue jobs ,both could & should be made cleaner
These look like two semi-wonderful filters. Your microscopic view of the Bosch filter media shows something different than what I am used to seeing. I don't know if this is good or bad.
I'm trying to locate other filters that are strictly cellulose (not a syn blend), that magically rate at 99% @ 20 .
Off hand, Bosch is the only one that I can think of.
@@WhipCityWrencher Exactly.. don't you think if cellulose-only could achieve that micron we would see the rating in SOME other cellulose filter??.. but they don't exist afaik.
@@memopadilla5931 I don't know, I can't think of any other cellulose filter media with that micron rating. I don't trust the micron ratings all that much anyway, because I've seen micron ratings that don't match what I see under a microscope. Some of the Wix filters with cellulose media have a micron rating of 95% at 20 microns, that's pretty close. The microscope pic of this Bosch filter media in this video does look like it would have a very good micron rating. On this Bosch filter, I think the micron rating matches what I see under the microscope. JMHO
A good vid. Very comprehensive comparison 👍🏽
Thank You!
I'm glad you liked it😊👍💯

Thanks Missy😊👍
Great info 👍
Thanks, Cassy👍
I thought both filters looked mediocre. I expect that out of AC but not Bosch.
I noticed that there is a hole on the bottom of the AC-Delco filter element only sealed by the metal spring. I would think that plenty of oil can pass unfilered, whereas the bottom of the Bosch filter element is sealed of completely by the metal cap.
Yep, I've done tests on similar bypass valves. th-cam.com/video/isgBoJdxP7I/w-d-xo.html
What is with all the glue? Neither looked great from that aspect.
The 2.8 in my S10 has the bypass valve in the oil filter housing to the best of my knowledge. By the way if you want the used filter off of that truck, I’d be happy to send it to you. The engine has over 500K miles on it so it would be interesting to see what’s in the filter.
Hi Eric,
Sure, do you still have my address?
@@WhipCityWrencher yeah I still have the email chain, I’ll probably be doing the oil change in the next week or so and will let you know all the information when I am ready to send it
@@TechTimeWithEric Great! Thanks!👍
Too much Glue on OEM ACDelco. Bosch Oil Filter better option.
BFD what do you expect comparing a premium filter to a OEM filter. Most Americans don't change their oil at regular intervals anyway. I have been using AC products for over 30 years and all of my Chevys have run well over 200k !
Yep, the Premium oil filter costs 18 cents more.
@@WhipCityWrencher 😁👍
The OEM (ACDelco) oil filter comes with your Chevy, Buick, or Caddy. That IS their "premium filter", since there is no factory option. The Bosch Premium is their "mid-grade" offering, and it has one of the best micron ratings in the bidness @ 20 microns, per test # 4548-12.
Yes, your ACDelco filter is "good enough" -- but the Bosch filter shown here is a much better option -- and it only costs a few pennies more. 😁
Pete's exclusive 100 x Magnification shows a more even distribution of the fibers, which MAY be the reason for the Bosch's excellent Micron Rating.
Ya gotta laugh at the peeps with FOREIGN CARS that DEMAND that their Oil Filters be made in the U.S.A. -- they often identify as "patriots". 😁
Nice Monte Carlo ,i probably keep it all GM & go with the AC Delco filter ......but look for NOS old school USA made AC Delco filters made around that time period thru the mid 2000's, they was really good made filters even back then & made in USA 🇺🇸
👍
bosch. They were supposedly pretty good.
That 87 Monte is sweet. That ACDelco filter; was the guy at the glue station hung over that day? Or did his dog piss on his lunch and he took it out on the poor filter? It's a nice filter but damn that glue all over the place drives me crazy. The Bosch is marginally better with the glue. Less the sloppy glue they are comparable. But man that glue.
100% agree. If you want a filter that is super clean, then check out Microgard. Also, the Denso-manufactured OEM Mazda and Toyota filters are impeccable. The standouts are all on Whip’s channel.
@@ChicagoRob2 I have, they are very impressive. I think Pete has opened up a couple of them here and they've all looked good, The Japanese sourced filters are always well made with good quality control.
The AC Delco has decent threads on the baseplate, the Bosch threads look skimpy in comparison. The Bosch threads look like they could strip if the filter is overtightened.
AC Delco filter looks bad. I don't like glue all over filter. Just for that. I wouldn't buy it.
Not a fan of filters with so few threads like the Bosch showen here.
5l engine and such small filters? 🤦♂️
It's gonna get ugly, folks.....
😊
