It is NOT YET AVAILABLE to public, but will be available very soon. I will let you know when this happens, on this channel :)
This version was almost finished a few months ago, but due to certain circumstances and life problems I was unable to make the last touches until now.
This version provides a MUCH better CPU (processor) performance. The game will run much better on old PCs, if your GPU (graphics card) is decent, especially when there are many creatures or objects around. This will be especially important for servers. And there are also a few nice new features and many important changes, including the changes that many of you asked for. You may read about them here:

This looks awesome! The flying looks like it would be hard to get used to, but also so fun, and realistic too. Not many games let you turn so fluid-ly and actually go upside down like how real birds fly

Unfortunately my life was pretty shitty, and most of all, my mental state, and I basically didn't work on this project for about 7-8 months.
Will try to return.. I am not sure if I can fulfill the vision I had, in this new situation. And I am not sure if I should risk more time of my life on that.

It's not just about feeling shitty. I have all the symptoms of a depression. My dreams and ideals broke, and I can't let them go (and don't want to). A lot of shit happened with me and my family (parents) in the last year. Starting with Covid and health issues that followed it, getting worse with the beginning of war in Ukraine (I am from Russia).
Sanctions, awful news, mobilization, hysteria, and too much attention from me to all of those, destroyed the remains of my wellbeing.
I can't "legally" monetize this project anymore, like I planned, and the awful thing is, I basically didn't even begin. No advertisement in any form, no warming up the audience's interest, nothing. I dug deep in code to secure a good, strong foundation for the future of the project, and when I was more or less done with it, all this bullshit began to happen. I broke.

I don't see how I can continue it, I have nothing required for it and lost the little I had. I was in a growing state of depression before the war and sanctions hit, and they hit me hard, then other stuff happened and I broke. I am just wasting my life, not knowing what to do, since then.

Cool. But learning gamedev and working on this project turned my life into hell.
I want to return, but I have nothing, and don't see how and what for I can continue.
A lot of shit happened in my life in the last 3-4 years, I never was an especially strong man, and I broke. I was not prepared for this life, with all my perfectionism and naive kind expectations of society and people, of 21st century, with my weird "values".
War, sanctions, and then some other shit and then death of a parent were a finishing blow to me.
Cant wait to try this game!

havent heard about this in a while, and just read a few comments, just wanted to say that if you are still struggling you can take as much time as you need, id say just work on it whenever you can, but dont worry about updating the public, wait until all this war stuff and that blows over, even then prioritise your mental health over making the game and pleasing us

Time won't help me, I already wasted 1.5-2 years and made my health, mental and physical, worse, and only grew tired of this world and society. In short, was a naive "kind" and scared fool for my naive world view, and made so many mistakes out of "good intentions" and fears that I lost it all.
I can't return to the project. Want to, tried a few times, but just can't. It was too much work and struggle for nothing, when I was close to being ready for the next step, I was already depressed, then war and sanctions hit, some other shit too, then death of a parent. I never was an especially active person, but in moments when passion ignited in me, I was an unstoppable fool. Now nothing ignites me, I am just slowly fading for a long time, with worsening situation and no acheivable hopes.
@@alexeykulikov5661 i am so sorry to hear this, i think it's probably the worst thing you could ever hear from a person. i only hope it will get better for you.. maybe try to change life, change country, change everything, i know it's hard, but i believe in you and many people do as well, only one person is missing to the list and it's you! i wasn't feeling good either for the last weeks, even now im not sure about myself, but i went back to the origins, i discovered and visited back some of my childhood/last years memories/content and it was good. you need to start again, i know you can do it.
regarding the game, take your time, maybe find some other people to partecipate to the project too, but don't worry, you are the theme that matters first. everything will end up well

Although I need it.
I have people who helped/help me with certain aspects of the game, like making map(s) or models. But it all boils down to my own performance as a programmer, and it is falling recently, especially after the conflict with Ukraine began (I live in Russia, and fell into a huge depression).
I set a too ambitious goal when beginning development (was a total newbie), and then a too high quality bar when I got more or less good at it. Paying for it hard now, with time, nerve cells, and insecurity about the future ;/
I wanted to find some programmer to help, but didn't get to it. About 3-4 people suggested their help with programming, but they were total beginners like I was, in this field. I paid too high price for creating code systems when I didn't have the knowledge of right approaches, and absolutely don't want to repeat that, having a total newbie trying to help me. Sadly, it works like that.
Idk, I either survive and manage to make this project into something cool and a bit popular, or I just wasted ~3-5 years of my life (depending on what time I count as working on it).
With the current situation in Russia, perspectives for my skills outside of this project are getting grim, and I don't think I can migrate like that. Don't have a strong enough character, plus don't want to leave my grandparents.
Maybe its just my depression, but I wanted to pour my soul a bit. I am sorry. Thank you.
@@alexeykulikov5661 oh dude. I’m so sorry that’s happening to you. Living in Russia with all of this garbage going on must be so difficult and such an awful experience. The game is very fun to play and you should be very happy with the progress you have made.

I am fully aware that this is not the same thing but if it makes you feel any better. I am also struggling with life as I have recently (about a year) came out as transgender and am now having to deal with laws changing in England making conversion therapy of transgender people legal. There is a chance that my doctor could refer me to be brainwashed into being someone I’m not and it’s extremely stressful.

I am sorry to hear that. Yes, it was kind of my goal to make a good game for dragon fans out there :) I want to move away from HTTYD slowly though. Its a great frachnise, inspired me a lot during teen years, but it is very restricting in certain sense...

Thank you! It was just an occasional hobby for me back then, and I was a total beginner.
Then I began to work on it full-time. And overworked a lot. My skill grew. I had big plans.
Then the war and sanctions happened (I am from Russia). And here I am, in a depression (just began to treat it medically), health problems, and destroyed dreams and goals :D
I still would love to return to developing this project, but not sure if I can.

If people really care about this game, they will wait. They will wait for the new updates, there should be no rush. Development has slowed due to your current situation, and I understand fully. Dragons of The Edge has been a big comfort game for me for a long time. I used to have an issue with going to school due to depression, so every morning before school, I'd switch on my laptop and play a little bit of Dragons of The Edge before a teacher came to pick me up. It helped me calm down. Flying around a beautiful word as a powerful dragon with gorgeous flight mechanics... it's absolutely incredible what you've managed to achieve!
So keep up the great work! And most importantly- take your time and focus on your mental health. Don't let any impatient fans get to you!

Hey, i've read your more recent comments and i hope, i pray things get better for you. I know the situation right now is shitty, with the war, the sanctions and all that. I hope one day all of this is over, and you can recover from all the problems you're having right now. It's perfectly okay for you not to continue this project. If you'll ever find the strength to, we will be here, and if you never will, it's okay too. Stay strong and take care.
The biggest problem is not the sanctions, but me being completely mentally broken now. I gained suicidal thoughts, apathy, hatred for myself and people's stupidity. Everyone around me went so much further in life despite me investing so much effort into my own. I am just stupid, in terms of emotions and understanding of society, didn't understand how people and society work. Whole my life I was hiding from certain stuff and searching for another, and then a lot bullshit that I was hiding from/hidden from, caught up on me at once.
None of my former goals are achievable, even the silliest and smallest ones, some of the main goals that I had are somewhat outside of my scope, my situation, my abilities. Some are not as "good for the people" as I thought before.
And I didn't find any new "goals". Fuck people, fuck me.

I feel betrayed by people and myself, and at the same time betrayed many other people and myself.
It's not as bad as this comment may sound, maybe. To express the shit that is in my head would take a few thousand words at least, so, I have simplified a ton of stuff.

Я уже где-то 10 месяцев почти не работал над проектом. Сначала от суицида пытался удержаться, потом мобилизация подосрала моральному состоянию еще больше. Потом рак у родителя и смерть. А сейчас я ни во что не верю и ничего не жду, нахожусь на самом дне жизни и просто перематываю день за днем. Не знаю, чему еще я могу посвятить жизнь, что вообще мне интересно, и при этом я мог бы позволить себе еще годы, сука, учиться этому чему-то.
Несколько раз пытался вернуться к проекту. Но полное отсутствие видения перспектив, адски медленный ПК для разработки, депрессия средне-тяжелой степени (уже на лечении, надо было гораздо раньше начать, может, все пошло бы не так), ослабевшие интеллектуальные способности, 0 веры в себя, огромная обида на себя и разочарование в мире и обществе, и т.д. и т.п.
Обрушились все мечты, около 4-8-10 лет (смотря что считать) жизни, куча сил и нервов, потрачено не туда.
И я даже те крохи средств, которые успел "заработать" с этого проекта, не вывел со счета до начала санкций и всей этой херни. Все оттягивал монетизацию/рекламу, пока не подготовлю программную основу проекта к новому этапу разработки, набору команды и т.п.
И в геймдев мне теперь дороги наверное нет. Да и не хочу вроде больше. Просто тупо потратил кучу лет жизни и сил, перерабатывая, тратя кучу свободного времени, жертвуя общением и не только, ни на что. Только некоторых ютуберов-обзорщиков обогатил (заграничных), и (пытался) принести сколько-то ярких моментов потенциальным игрокам. Растерял, если её можно так назвать, "фан-базу", которая по сути и замотивировала меня когда-то (3 года назад) превратить проект из хобби в разработку на полный рабочий день (а я часов по 10-14 сидел, часто, часто бывало еще и без выходных. Компенсировал, сука, медленность ПК своим собственным временем и здоровьем. Ненавижу все это, какой же я идиот.)

I love the game. But there is something you could add. Maybe some other dragons for e.x. Nightmare, Zippleback, Deathsong, Changewing, Red Death, Bewilderbeast, Drimilion. you do not need to do all the dragons but I would love it if we had more options than just three. :)
Will the making friends mechanic work again in this update?
Not yet. I want to rework it in a better way than it was before.
But I think (don't remember for sure) you can make AI follow you via console commands (/setreputation).
Question, I'm planning on playing this game once I get my computer out of the shop and I was wondering.. when the game is getting an update or if it's already released, do you have to download the update or does your game automatically update itself?
You will have to download it manually.

Just found this and I have one question, how good is the flight mechanics as all I want is a game where wing dynamics actually work.
For example can you glide, dash, loop de loop, make tight turns, just fall to the ground before floating off? In short can you recreate where no one goes?
@@Kalion-mi1zc its not as detailed as you likely expect. I would say, its somewhere between "realistic" physics-based flight and arcade-ish, easy to control flight.
Rolls/Loops are possible, diving too. Fast turns too, but it depends on your speed and... how much you can move your mouse :)

@@SunsetEnvy not really. Let's say, I underestimated the scope of work needed before getting to working on her, and had to fight depression and health issues for a long time. Still have to.
There were more important things to work on, in this project.

You should make it avaible gor phones or maybe be able to play online with other peppol like they can create a map and if it is public you can join the map i think it would be a coll thing :) oh and this game haves a lot of potential keep up the good work! :)

I don't know anything anymore. This project is semi-abandoned due to huge life/health issues. Just re-color the night fury or draw/get a custom skin for it. For now.

Все таки жизней без проблем не бывает, и иногда в какой-то момент нужно подняться в вверх к успеху, ты это сможешь сделать! I would love to make them, but lack resources, plus, this game is not official.

@@alexeykulikov5661 understandable, you could have more of a chance about it through mobile, from what I've seen, the game is amazing, and the fact that the customization is so vast, its what's made me keep an eye of it for some years now

I went through a huge depression this year, since about the beginning of spring.
Personal/life/family problems, my own naiveness and the war that began (I am from Russia) were the main triggers.
I am, it feels like, climbing out of it, but I don't know what to do. No condifence in anything anymore.
Patreon is banned (VPN helps though), ways of withdrawing money are in grey area now, I have barely any way to pay for stuff I need, especially if it is abroad. The future I saw for myself before, since early University, is unlikely now.
I made a lot of sacrifices most likely in vain, and only hurt myself and not only myself, for nothing.
I mean, that's why there have been no updates for a year now. I was making an update that wastly optimized the game's code and made it more stable (and before that I spent about 1.5 years recoding and expanding it, since it was just a hobby project and was poorly coded before).
i'm so in love with this game, how can I download it?

No, there is no mobile version. It would be hard to port onto mobile, first I need to optimize it a lot more (requires a lot of time and I need a better development PC than what I have), and it would be hard to adapt controls to smartphones. It wasn't a priority before, and in the last year, with my life falling to the bottom of nowhere, I think I will never get to porting it. I am sorry.

Hello everyone, i have a question. My pc can support good graphis but for some reason when i use fire breath i crash, not only because of the fire, but sometimes i crash for no reason while playing, mostly while storm, i have everything on low and it drains fps like nothing, my resolution is also really low, the lowest it can go, but i only hope that it'll stop, i really enjoy the game and i always wanted to play it, just i can hardly see something with that resolution and the crashing is also annoying.

You likely have an old graphics card, that struggles to run Unreal Engine 4 and Dragons of the Edge.
@@alexeykulikov5661 Yeah thats probably that, i have googled it many times, i struggled with it, what should it look like? i see as i looked into it i found "Intel core i3"
i just hope that there will be more fire settings so that the fire will have less particles and less quality.
