Do you agree with me? This card certainly isn't perfect, but I think it fulfills the needs of 99% of gamers and content creators. What do you think?
Ran into this one a couple of days ago, by far the next option when my current one dies!
Any idea when the pci version will come out?
I agree, nice specs
and it has RGB bro
@Senpai It would depend. My current capture card is the Elgato 4K60Pro. I do not use passthrough, because I have a 360Hz monitor and play shooters competitively. The Elgato isn’t quite built for giving me my full FPS (even in non-passthrough) and I have to change EDID settings back and forth until I can get close to 360FPS (it’s caps at 330, plus it’s very buggy). Elgato tech support will not make me a custom EDID and has not explained how my fps is possible because they say it shouldn’t go higher than 240. So, if this capture card lets me play competitive shooters at 360FPS, then I agree with you, and I will buy one. :)
I also feel that it would be a good idea to add a second input so you can have your camera attached to it also
I have been waiting for this! So excited that it is almost here!
What resolutions do you see in OBS? Note this is a much bigger list vs what the specs say. Thank you!
The timing for this video is scary! I was just looking up prices for capture cards and then boom, your video shows up as soon as I open TH-cam. Love your videos!
The power of the TH-cam algorithm
I got it via pre-order. I find it handles HDR content really well in OBS with the XRG setting and doesn't wash it out like my HD60X did.
Thanks.. i thought my hdr was wrong.. but thanks for confirm the wash-out.
Thanks for this comment man, I was just looking to buy HD60X but I should wait for this one since I struggle currently with HD60S+ with screen stutter. Main PC is 240hz and streaming PC is 60hz...
@@raqacsConsidering upgrading to this from my HD60X as well. I just really wanna take advantage of the 4K 120hz+ my monitor is capable of but haven’t been able to since the HD60X can only pass through 1440p of playing at 120fps.
Good to know the colors look better too
Hi man, I'm using HD60X since my monitor is 240h 1080p and so far it works great. But for higher resolutions this can be game changer but I beleive Elgato will come with new one soon. @@jordychinchin
Just gotta say: Your video's always touch on such applicable topics. I was literally just considering buying a better capture card
I actually use the 4K60S+, and I actually used it for 4K60 streaming on TH-cam, I personally wouldn't call it "useless" as I was able to use it quite well. I was aware of those shortcomings as well, but I was able to use it how I wanted to. I still utilize it for capturing gameplay for certain things I do on my channel. I had heard of this new piece of tech from another person on here, so nice to see your take on this also. Although I myself recently purchased an actual hardware encoder, it's really awesome. This is something that might be nice to keep in my arsenal of tech, per se. Keep up the awesomeness! Happy gaming! 🎮🖖😊Marcus
Hey Harris! I don't know if you know, but Genki has come out with a kickstarter project that introduces a capture card (the Shadowcast 2 Pro)! Seems to be able to outperform the Elgato HD60x, will you be looking at it when it comes out?
Thanks Harris... I have used Avermedia since they first came out back in the day. I almost went for an Elgato, but this card is pretty lit. Thanks!
Thank god for the 1440p240 passthrough update. I just got a monitor with those specs lol. But I do have a question: I play Valorant a good bit and usually leave my frames uncapped, which usually puts me somewhere in the 350-400 ish range (with broader peaks and valleys). Would that somehow behave differently going through this card as opposed to directly to my PC, especially since I use Display port, as well? Thank you for any advice
You said the live view in OBS is 66ml, does it have a Live View application like Elgato and would that have the same delay? OBS can make things appear to be more delayed once you start streaming with multiple sources. I only ask because I use a Elgato HD60 S+ and I don't have an extra monitor to play on another screen and Stream setup on another so I have to use the Elgato program. I only play games like Pokemon on the switch for example so delay isn't a huge issue at the moment.. I'm also looks for Elgato alternative because once they were acquired by Corsair they said they won't be raising prices, but everything is x4 or above more expensive..
Is this better than an internal PCIe card? Like the industry "standard" Elgato 4K60 Mk 2?
If it is gonna be better and only $50 more it sure would be a great option! I am on my 2nd capture device and now need a 4k pass through card. I am also done going the "cheap" route!
I recently purchased a 4k monitor for my Xbox and my current device is only 1080p passthrough. It would be nice to use it at the higher video resolution.
Unrelatable but I see you got your hands on the SM7DB 👀Are you just trying it out or is there a video coming soon about it?
So is this card a formidable upgrade if you already have the bolt, though ^_^
Also my Lenovo Windows Laptop and my Intel Mac mini 2018 have Thunderbolt3, so it can't really be That uncommon;
while I understand the frustration for people who don't have TB3 on your Motherboard -- it can still be useful to load a capture device when you don't have or want to use PCI slots for an Internal (Possible your PCI slots are already occupied by other capture cards or gaming devices).
One of my first capture cards was an Avermedia card, the game audio would always move out of sync, so I moved to Elgato, I've had my issues with Elgato too, particularly the 4k60 S+, which would stutter, both recording to PC and an SD Card, settled on the 4k60 Pro Mk2 and haven't had any issues.
Ok ok….but how do I get one of those Beacn mic arms? 🤔
I'm looking to buy a new capture card here in a couple months. Should I get this one or the Elgato HD 60X? Also, can I use this new AVerMedia card with a Mac?
Finally. 4k/120 passthrough!
I'd expect Elgato to bring their version in the coming months.
What about 0 latency preview ?
Would love to stop the audio delay when monitoring my sources etc.( 2 PC setup for example )
Any benefits for using it for Camera Capture in comparison to Elgato?
I was trying to buy this the other week and it wasn't available and then I found out I could capture using remote play on the ps5. It also took care of game chat issues. Is there any advantage of using this capture card over using remote play?
While I do not stream or catpure footage, I would love to be able to use this on my PC to connect a gaming console with out a need for another monitor or input switching. The preview delay of 60ms is stil too high, I wish they could find a way to do a 10ms when recording is disabled.
Harris I see that you're using the new Sm7DB? Will you be making a video? 👀
Interested in checking this out. The Elgato 4K60 Pro MkII has genuinely been a disappointment for me with how often it fails.
question, lets say i've a laptop and a gaming pc, could i in theory, stream my pc game with my laptop using this thing,
it might be extremely obvious but i wanna know just to be sure, im gonna eventually get a second gaming pc but if i could use a laptop in the meantime it would be nice as hell
I need to go out with display port 1.4 can I use a cable to convert it without loosing Gsync etc?
What's the point of the rgb light? How much cheaper would this have been if they didn't have that 🤔
Does using a capture card add any input delay or latency when playing the game itself?
how do/did you not have thunderbolt ? do you skimp on motherboards?
I play on PS3 a lot with HDMI, and it switches resolutions quite often. How does the capture card handle resolution switches? The HD60 S+ freezes and I have to refresh it so i'll buy it if I don't have to do this
i wish someone would just make a display port capture card, every limitation of capture cards being 4k 60 or 1440p at 144hz isn't necessarily a limitation of the card itself but of the bandwidth of hdmi. If they just used display port and threw in an hdmi to dp adapter for the console kids it would solve all of these problems.
Also, there are tons of 1440/1080p 360hz monitors now even by zowie who make THE pro league displays along with asus just releasing a 1080p 540hz monitor that's actually insanely good, these limitations are very impactful to the people who will notice it most. And to correct Herris, im nowhere near a top level player but there is a MASSIVE "perceived difference" after 144hz. Just because you cant feel it being a casual player doesn't make it non existent.
would this be an option for using my iphone 15 pro as a cam with clean HDMI out via usb-c?
still confused about these capture cards - is it only for consoles or if one's PC isnt powerful enough to really capture the quality, one could use this capture card to do the rendering while the PC manage the main gaming side of things?
i have a question guys and maybe you have the knowledge for that already.
With a 2 pc setup, which of those marked performance infos of this capture card at 02:21 ist important?
The pass through, or the capture?
My Capture card is in the streaming pc and captures my gaming monitor, or better said, it captures the gpu.
thx in advance guys 🤘
I love your personality ❤
So does the pcie version have less latency?
That's interesting. Definitely will probably get at some point
Does this card capture video from cable boxes via hdmi? If not, can you recommend one?
yeh it can, but hdcp needs to be tackled.
What is the benefits of the internal one they're bringing out vs this
Did Harris just leak a Beacn mic arm? Or is that just a sticker/
I’m so damn excited to tune into the zoom call he’s is of course going to be on in car with that beautiful green screen setup. 😆 🤘🏼
how dose it due on the desync front? my HD60X has to be reset almost every stream...it's ridiculous
thanks man...love you guys
-Sick
hey Harris, just so you know, when you use those characters in video titles, it makes it really difficult for a screen reader, user such as myself to understand what the video title actually is, because typically what a screen mirror will do is say something like, letter one D6.
What about monitors that put out more then 240 because 240 is kinda low now with 360 being the new norm and we even have 500 hurtz panels available
What would make me like these capture cards more is if they have Linux support, and it's not impossible to support, you just build drivers for the device itself and a system service daemon if you need it for certain things, and software updates through an app or something that lets you update over USB.
Just get windows bro
Always trust your Opinions Harris, this will be perfect for a lot of my younger friends.
I own 4k60 S+ as this is only device that can do both 4k and save without PC. I understand that most cards are designed for live streaming but option to have an external backup to SD or HDD seems like reasonable next step. We praise cameras for dual slot, but we handle our precious footage from capture card to single output which has to be powerful PC. For many cases requirement for another PC being connected all the time to just handle recording from capture card is just dumb.
See the thing is though having a PC with Thunderbolt alot of the Major Laptops have them aswell so it would be so easy to get a PC with it heck you can buy a newer Motherboard or a Prebuilt that has thunderbolt in it
Everyone always thinks the latest tech is the best we'll ever need or get. I remember when my grandparents upgraded our computer from a 512MB HDD to a 1GB HDD and everyone talking about how no person could ever need that much space... Well, here we are.
Is there going to be a HDMI 2.1b version of this with 1440p 360Hz pass-through? 240Hz just doesn't cut it in 2023. Also, does this card add any measurable input lag? How does it handle 4:3 stretched resolutions and switching between them and 16:9?
lmao
There's still a long way to go in terms of fidelity. Resolution of the player view aspect is one thing but a game running at 4k can still look jank thanks to player models, lighting, textures etc. Few engines are good enough to cope with 4k120 and high fidelity. This of course doesn't matter to the capture device, but to the console/pc pushing the game.
The only other thing I want from a capture card at this point is two inputs so I can ditch my camlink (although I just got a ZV E10 and USB streaming is a thing, just about)
The next major improvement isn’t lowering the cost, it’s adding more inputs so the card can have 4 inputs. Nothing is more irritating than having to shuffle cables constantly between 3 consoles and a pc. And there’s no way around that. HDMI switches and splitters literally can’t do that job without messing up the video signal every single last time. I’m tired of having to kneecap gameplay to keep everything neat, or having to have a huge inconvenience everytime I want to swap to a different machine.
Can’t find the Live gamer 4k 2.1 GC575 HELP
Does it work for mobile gaming capture ?
Eagerly awaiting Mac support from Avermedia on this. I've had this device for a few days now but can't capture 4K60 on my M1 Max Macbook Pro, which has Thunderbolt 4 ports (40gbps). 4K30 or 1440p60 are no problem. Finger crossed they update us soon!
i've been eying this up to get a dedicated streaming PC so i can make full use of my 3440x1440 monitor since going over 60fps on a single PC causes OBS to tank
When hasBeacn started making boom arms?
I use the nzxt capture card. It works great. OBS detects it with no issues and I have both models, but use the lower one for 1080p because for some reason it still allows 4k passthrough at 144hz with no issues. Not sure how I got it to work that way but well hey i have been streaming and it looks great haha!
I wonder if it applies to mobile capture as well. So many issues that plague the mobile gaming streaming.
If it doesn't, then NO it will not be the last capture card to end all capture cards.
Currently the hurdles to stream from a mobile phone is quite a headache.
AverMedia can develop the next big thing in capture cards, but they can't update their downloads page for 30 years?😂
I just saw you have the new Shure sm7b make a video pleas
I have learned in my 30 years of buying computer equipment and peripherals and justifying them to my wife, that I never say "I'll never need" something better. Like my 450MB hard drive I got for my 486DX2 66. Be careful how you justify your purchases. 😃
I honestly wish they made a few more external capture cards like the Elgato 4K60S+. I had to buy one used to record and it makes it easy for me to record and then pop the micro SD card in my PC to edit.
Can it do ultrawide resolutions?
What about impute delay?
Hey senpai does it work with stream labs?
It’s a UVC device, meaning it’s totally plug and play. Should work on StreamLabs no problem, but I’m saying that without testing.
Guess I'm pushing aside the 4K60 then lol Even with my system, desktop capture is a journey.
Google tells me:
Various USB standards, including USB 3.2 and USB4, also use the USB-C connector type, and these cables and ports are cross-compatible with Thunderbolt 4.
So maybe that thunderbolt capture card would have worked in usb3.2 10Gbps port if you had one at the time.
what's the micstand 👀
I'd like to se a DP capture card some time, for videocards/monitors that don't support HDMI 2.1
Do you need a capture card for streaming on pc ? Gaming and streaming on the same pc ? I canta find the answer !
No, just for console to pc, or maybe if you're using 2 pcs
Still waiting for a Displayport capture card from El Gato or Avermedia. it may be a smaller market but would make life a lot easier for all of the content creators that use a dual pc setup.
It’s funny cause I’ve actually got the live gamer ultra and it seems like this capture device is the way to go
Im not gonna lie, I want it. I was actually thinking about upgrading my internal card but im gonna wait but maybe ill pick up the external for now.
Happy Streaming Guys!
Picked up as a pre-order. It can be a bit wonky with loss of image, but its absolutely worth the struggle.
Proper 4k 144hz 1ms has essentially replaced my 1440p and allowed me to now produce 4k native content!
oh hi justin, didnt know you also watched senpai
@Kaiberus have been for years, since he was smaller than my channel!
How do you think I figured out what I know today? xP
well same way im figuring stuff out but actually succeeding, by basically f'in around and just finding out@@JustinPlaysTV
i remember your comment and i saw this video and i was like huh, yknow i'll take a look, need to wait till it releases in europe or something though cause its 400 including shipping to get it to the netherlands@@JustinPlaysTV
I think the atem mini or FEELWORLD LIVEPRO L1 is a better option for the price
1080 capture only on Atem… ouch
Can you capture pc free for mobile gamers? Not interested in live streaming it.
full dive gaming is what's next hopefully
Cant get it, my 1.5 y/o pc only has one USB C port which is being used by an external SSD.
The issue would be the lack of display port because most gpus have more display ports than hdmi. Msi rtx 4090 has 3 dp amd 1 hdmi.
Quick 10 bucks adapter? :)
Too bad it didn't come with an adapter for free.
OMG is that a Beacn Mic Arm?!
FINALLY I was just saying today I need a new capture card to come out that will let me play on my s90c at full quality
Next step be interactive on the capture card be voice commands where you can say capture that or built in upscaling with AI
no, cause then you will get latency. upscale after/later
Omg I bought an expensive capture card once and forgot until this rando vid popped in my feed. It’s just chillin in the box, lol! My adhd super hyper focus for 2 weeks and then drop it thing has hit again!
They can do 144Hz. So it's possible to do 240Hz?
I am gonna buy the internal card 😁 I already have the *Live Gamer 4k* (GC573) and it's pretty good. But I record at 60... Because I still use Premiere 😔
Always the same problem. Still no video capture that manages 360hz screens for dual PC without problem
Still waiting to pre-order GC575 internal PCIe capture card.
I believe the most significant advancement still to come for capture cards is the ability to capture 4K 120 w/ HDR. Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 captures at 4K60 which isn't anything new.
I'm still waiting for a capture card that can allow 360hz in pass-through. Because as a competitive FPS player who stream, i can't have the choice having dual PC there.
Cool
There's a low profile BEACN mic Arm.. 👀👀👀👀👀
So like did anyone else notice the BEACN mic arm it’s not even on their site
A capture card is not just only for gaming. what if you want to capture the highest output 4672 x 2628 (59.94p, 50p, 29.97p, 25p, 23.98p), 16bit from a Sony FX-30 it will cost more.
So that's why my audio is so fucked and there is a delay in my streams....I bought the 4K60 s+ on a huge sale....I thought it was just a sale I didn't know it was discontinued..
Foe another piece of electronic hardware that may be used half a dozen times, it's a must have
I play off my capture card half the time, I dont notice the delay most of the time.
waiting to see how elgato responds to this if they don't release one by next spring I am buying this avermedia
