If I started over on twitch, I would gear my livestream content to be used as youtube content. Meaning, I would come up with ideas for compelling youtube videos beforehand, prep whatever I need to do it live, then do it live. Which then that stream would be chopped up into the said video ideas. I'd then further edit them and create shorts.
Hey it’s my plan! lol I just did my first stream last night. Today after work ima chop it up and try atleast 1 TH-cam video outta it and some shorts for TH-cam and TikTok.
That ending message is the reason why I watch your TH-cam videos. Thank you so much for encouraging and empowering others to be positive in today's troubled world. Godspeed to you, Harris.
The bit about not being a degenerate was much appreciated. Shouldn't have to be said, but unfortunately it does. Great video, keep killin' it and enjoy Hawaii.
I started streaming about a year ago. Affiliated after 4 months, and just got over 200 followers. I still wait for videos like these so i can learn more on what i can do better
I've been fortunate with me streaming as a "bonus" on twitch, to my normal long form content on youtube. Might only average 40-50 viewers per stream, but the conversations we have are so much fun. And I make a little side-money doing it. I don't even know how to "plan" something that could turn into a clip or short. Wouldn't even know where to begin to think about that. Sometimes funny things happen. I clip them, turn them into vertical format and share them on all the other platforms. But I don't put a priority into it. Hope my strategy continues to work for a while :)
As a fairly new TH-camr/ Streamer I will wholeheartedly say that your videos give the best advice. When I first started back in March of this year I binged almost all of your suggestions, streaming, lighting etc. videos and it opened my eyes to the complexity of it all. I started with just an Xbox and with the help of friends and small sponsorships I have a pc. Thank you for all of the tips that got me where I am now :)
For the clip automation, the Twitch plugin has a clip function that will take a 30 second clip of your stream. I've usually been able to clip the moment I wanted to clip and even if the clip wasn't quite correct, I have the the ability to go from the clip right to the spot in my stream the moment happened and clip what I wanted from there.
Thank you for always trying to help the smaller creator Harris, I’ve already put into action some of what you’ve said in this video which makes me now think I’m on the right path :) I use to stream 3x times a week and try to be live for 4 hours each time on twitch but truth be told that wasn’t good for me, it just wasn’t possible with my daily routine sadly but since I moved over to TH-cam I’ve started streaming once a week for about 2 hours and have already noticed a positive difference + I have the time to create 3x long form videos each week on top of that. I’m going to see what 2x streams a week is like for me next on this platform and then start getting back into YT Shorts and recycle that content into TikToks :)
you make anime reaction content lol the easiest thing on the planet harris has done nothing but fail as a live streamer, why would you take his advice? All your youtube videos have outrageously low views lol you need to do something else with actual creative integrity besides watching anime.
FOR MAKING TWITCH CLIPS: No stream deck or similar periph? Dont want to download software onto your device? Can’t/don’t want to physically write down timestamps? Do this instead (tho I def recommend the stream deck): Bring up the alarm on your phone and open the Stopwatch option. Hit start the same time you go live. Every time you want to mark a “Clip Later” spot, hit the “Lap” button in the app. Voila! A list of all the timestamps you want to look at after stream. I’m pretty sure on the iPhone you can even make it a widget that will show on your Lock Screen, but I could be mistaken. Oh, and no need to worry about closing the app. The Stopwatch will continue running until you hit “Stop.”
This is very useful, I stop streaming after college and lately i've been trying to get back into it, but it harder now when my music career has taking a big spike!
As an indivdual that streams to literal no one and too lazy to try and make an effort to expand whatever it is I'm doing is honestly gonna stay that way cause of the way I am. But I'll take these tips with some salt, consideration and hopefully I'll attempt to apply them in the future. Much love & much respect to the streaming daddy!
I don't stream to anybody either no matter what tips I apply nothing works, but I do because it's fun. Somedays a little less fun than others because I feel crazy talking to myself but, the internet/streaming is like high school...a popularity contest so oh well.
Harris saying that bit at the end wins 2023. Something I have said while live, and in other content too many times to count and I love that someone with an actual platform finally said it. So thank you, because more people need to stop basing content on "If I get a million views who cares who gets hurt?" Love it, if we are ever in LA at the same time I'll buy you some Trejo's tacos, best food ever.
Just started streaming last month, after knowing that I’m no longer fit to work as per normal coz my spine got severely fractured. I spent almost $1k for streaming equipments. The reason I stream; I love gaming and I hope by streaming, I able to earn some money. I did those tips mentioned in this vid; Tips #1 ,#2 and , #4 but I still have 0 viewers everytime I stream in both Twitch and TikTok. I’m still learning how to improve myself on streaming. Gaining followers and viewers takes some time. I’ve read a guy streaming for more than 5 years but still with 0 viewers everytime he streams. I have finally know that making money by streaming ain’t that easy. PS: That last message almost got me teared up bruhh. Appreciate the advice :’)
I watched this specifically to see if he would mention the tactic i chose lol which is ofcourse multistreaming. i was very against it as well for a long time and i will admit not all viewers love the idea but it helps in growth . I am a content creator that technically has 2 communities and i was always stressing myself out on how much to do where and would feel bad when id leave people out cause i would be on the opposite platform. i made the change to multistreaming 2 years ago and its honestly really beneficial for a creator. especially if your like myself and do edited content plus stream content.
Yeah I've been thinking about going "stuff it" and multistreaming. It just seems too limiting staying just on Twitch now ayway. Gotta figure all that stuff out and working on doing clips better than I have since as it is, the only clips I do have are just old stream stuff thrown up that friends have clipped for me
Found my 2 platforms, TH-cam and TikTok 😊 I only stream 1 day a week on YT and do long from videos and chop them both up for shots and TikToks. I think I’m alright considering 😅 always appreciate your videos Harris, hope you enjoy Hawaii
@@krazielplays dope! 😊 I appreciate that! I currently stream simulation games every Monday nights at 9pm AEST (Sydney Australia time) I’m looking to add another day and time for my USA audience very soon 😊
Sizzle looks to only be for shooters, which is unfortunate, since I have a variety to content I play or stream. Would have been great to have a way to upload a YT playthrough video and find highlights this way. Oh well.
The ending was amazing in much needed in todays world where everything is a problem. Keep up your amazing videos i have been watching your videos for years!!
Good message. Solid video. I don't think I have it in me for streaming anymore these days but there's still opportunities out there for those that go about it the right way.
I've only been on the streaming scene a couple of months but from the start i made a key promise that my content would not just be gaming so its not - brought in my own creative stuff + hoping for more podcasts. I never just wanted to do gaming as my main focus is my works as an author so have a mix of youtube, twitch + other socials but yes trying to manage all of that is challenging so i did have to pull back on a couple. Honestly wish i found your channel sooner :).
That last point has been mentioned in the comments a lot already. But yeah, that's one that I totally resonate with. In a world filled with content that hurts others, in any way, being the light in someone's day is incredibly valuable. Thanks for the tips man!
Dude. Your last words of advice here are AMAZING. I loved the tips but just the notion of reminding people to bring value to those around them is really special and I couldn't agree more. My motivation as a streamer is to move people emotionally with music or comedy and I am happy that it matches your instruction.
This is the best Twitch on the internet. Especially the part of "Focus on Two Platforms". I used to try and put the same love into Twitch, TikTok, TH-cam, and Instagram but it quickly led to burn out and each platform suffering. Great video!
Dude, I've been watching your content for years now, and I have to say - nothing has made me value you and your content more than hearing Tip #5 today. Thanks for being awesome. In a world of click bait and bad behavior attention grabs, hearing #5 expressed verbally, directly, and with visuals identifying the problematic behavior you're speaking against, it makes me glad I've be been a fan of yours for so long. Keep crushing it.
Solid advice here! I've been very sporadic with trying to stream (not trying to become super popular but just create a space for people who are interested in watching me). I especially like the advice about focusing on TWO specific platforms only and the rest being automated and multi-streaming.
I find myself in a strange sort of limbo between streams on Twitch (where I get gifted subs, donation and tips) and TH-cam where I get views and steadier (albeit slow) growth. I still feel like discoverability on Twitch is the devil's dog's flea's butthole, but there is no denying the "kick your shoes off, and chill however" attitude the place has for content. On TH-cam I feel that everything, from community posts, to shorts, to streams has to be this deliberate marketing campaign geared for the sole purpose of panning for gold. There are times when I just want to do on YT what i do on Twitch... be relaxed.
I realized the whole streaming less thing and that’s been my biggest thing this year. I used to stream 3-4 times a week, but now it’s more like 1-2 so I can work in content. I think it’s overall helped my channel but I still have a long way to go
What would yoy suggest for me. So ive nearly tripled the follower goal required in under a year. But i really really struggle hitting consistent viewers. Ik i can make content creation full time purely because if in half a year i sucessfully reached over 100 followers both on yt and twitch that is already way ahead of most people starting out. But sometimes its hard when i cant reach that average. Sometimes though even if i have someone actively talking half the time their view isnt even counting. Im not focusing on who is watching as im streaming and being entertaining, only keeping my streams for as long as i know i can entertain for but it is hard sometimes.
i effin love this Harris.. your the true goat for continuing to provide us with better tactics and formulas' to better increase our brand awareness and growth.. honestly this is coming from a small content creator aka an artist trying to grow on large scale your knowledge is what keeps me still grinding even when i have under 100 followers across all platforms. i did the exact thing you said not to do which is post on every platform(facebook, instagram, tik tok, rarely on twitter but yes i was posting on all of them and that didnt do anything but make me feel like im going backwards rather than forward. keep up with the amazing work you do. but side note can you make a vod on how to grow with each platform or at least your suggestions.. i believe this type of vod will do alot of ppl justice and really give them a foundation to start off of..
I recently came across your channel as I'm starting a Twitch gaming channel where I chat about faith, life and related topics with my audience. It's a little intimidating but your videos give me the motivation and confidence to jump in. Thanks bro!✌
Focusing on "scripted" streaming content so I can re-use it for videos has been one of my quickest burnout strategies so far. It might not be for me. Right now however, I'm freer than ever. Streams are isolated from long form videos and I only take some really good parts (if even) as short form to esit for later. If I had a nice stream and during that stream I came up with a video idea, I take my time to record it offline with a better direction and planning. That last bit is something I'm on it right now. I'm not giving up yet. I've been streaming for 2.5 years by now and had some videos here and there. I gave up on tiktok content since it doesn't fit me. I'll keep going.
Wait you’re a genius I never thought of using my stream as content on TH-cam. I focus on TH-cam, Twitch and Twitter and recording with OBS while streaming then editing a hype clip afterwards with Davinci Resolve and using Affinity Photo 2 to make the thumbnail then share it on Twitter is a fantastic idea. Your advice is straight forward and fantastic man keep it up!
Thank you for the advice as always. I tend to stream to twitch but am thinking of expanding over to youtube as well. My fiancee and I have a blast playing together, so I hope that I can make others smile with my content.
Yeah I recently started streaming MORE but it's affected how often I can make shorts and really seems to have stalled my TH-cam growth from where it was a couple months ago. Paring it all back and doubling down on TH-cam seems to be the play. Thanks PAPA.
I just started streaming on twitch recently but not for money. Its a hobby of mine and i don't work with a schedule. So the streams are at random. Still figuring out how things work and still trying to improve my layout in OBS. However i already always set up the title for the next stream in advance so that viewers know what to expect including the category. Also english is my second language so its a challenge to speak english because i'm more used to typing in english. There is also another challenge for me because i'm still living with my parents and when they are home i barely can speak into my mic because they don't like loud noises when they are upstairs so i'm trying to stream when they aren't home or if they both are downstairs. And the third challenge is the fact that i'm shy and sometimes have difficulty with communicating but it slowly improves a bit. The first 2 streams were pokemon TCG cards unboxing, but the third stream i'm planning will be a romhack that i will be playing. I only got like 2 or 3 watchers during the my first or second stream but they were gone quickly. However after both streams stopped i noticed in the following days that i had more views quickly and the second stream which was like a hour and something long did get more views than the first video. The first stream was like 4 hours long. So for some reason my streaming videos are treated like what happens on youtube. Most of the time people only watch my videos after the stream has stopped.
Thank you for always reminding me to "Like" I always get so invested in the millions of thoughts you inspire that I often forget. (: Been doing the notebook trick for so long, but never heard anyone suggest it before!
This was really helpful, lately i struggle to keep up energy to stream after work so i reduced it to 2 days a week to have a more fun stream, while posting 3 shorts/tiktoks daily. Longer videos are something i need to work on as well. Next im going to look into multistreaming :)
All I wanna say is thank you, you're one of the people I watch that gives me inspiration and spark to make my dreams into reality. I hope to create an amazing community one day that is nothing but positive, and this is the push I needed to start. Hope to be able to play with you one day, stay awesome!
Just started streaming about 2 weeks ago. Trying to make as many improvements now as i can, apart from what i was already doing(twitch studio, live on twitch, archive on YT). Idk how but i have 15 followers and 3-5 are always coming back. But i just made the switch to OBS and im still learning it (youre vids are helping immensely), used my canon m50 i used for photography for my web cam. My original intention wasnt to make live streaming my job (maybe in the future if it happens) it is just fun, chatting with my audience, playing games they and I both like. Going to give sizzle a try though seems nothing short of amazing
Great advice man, and how cool you're (or were) in Hawaii !! I'm close to hitting 1K subs and I'm meticulously planning to go live when that happens, and your videos help a lot 🙌
Ive been wandering about streaming more and if it helps. Going to find times that I feel good about streaming and not just hitting that go live button. Thanks for the advice!❤
If I weren't already subscribed, I'd have definitely hit that subscribe button after that final tip. Love the positivity. Keep spreading that. Thank you for being awesome.
Tip 3 is probably the most important I think. If you care about money success makes total sense, but if you don't it does the same for your mental health. I mean, I don't think there is a problem with an occasional "go live" and enjoy the stream kind of mindset, but if you have a project (or other things going on in life), it is really important to prioritize when you go live, so you can be doing the other things you need and enjoy.
I’ve been streaming for 8 or so years, very close to quitting as get like 5 viewers or less average so hopefully once I’ve watched this video it’s some motivation!
@@NaudVanDalen I’ve always streamed because I enjoy interacting with viewers and playing the game, you’re not going to make a ton with low viewers like myself. The thing is I’m literally seeing no growth in like 8 years. I can’t remember exactly but I think I streamed for like 60 hours in last month or maybe it was July and made £30. Only saying that month as I remember checking. Some months I make a little more, some I make less. Depends on how many donations but what I will say is the majority come from like a few regular donators. Its expected not to make much with low viewers I just wish I’d grow as whilst I stream because I enjoy it as I’m getting older I realise doing something like daily and seeing no success is a sign of needing to change stuff or quit. Currently taking a few days off whilst deciding what to do.
I've been streaming for a while and found these tips to be just as helpful for me currently. Thanks for the knowledge! One thing I'd love to eventually see is an editor similar to Sizzle for music producers. (maybe there is one?) That would be really sick. I spend too much time editing my streams down for TH-cam content; if that could be automated in some way... woooooo boiiii that'd be amazing. lol
Two notable quotes: "In a world of increasing darkness, please choose to be a light." I vibe with that - though, it sure seems the almighty algorithm does not. This is a reflection of society, to an extent. There's only one way we can change that... STOP CLICKING EVIL STUFF "A father to child talk from your stream daddy." LOL I'm just gonna leave that one where it sits. Thank you for the advice, daddy. No, but really, I do appreciate when big names do stuff like this.
Thanks for using your platform and voice to spread positivity. This was heartfelt, additive, much needed, and highly appreciated. Good karma returns too!
Thanks for this! I was wondering about your the switch from Twitch to TH-cam you did but then saw you were back also on Twitch, so wasn't sure if something changed. Maybe I missed that video. Thanks for the end part man, like really. The whole idea of doing stupid crap or being absurd just to get views is what isn't just destroying social media, but society as a whole. Trying to get some good content out there for people :)
Thank you for a solid advice. I truly want to build a community where I can reach out to people who may be alone and in need of support if so, only through having a friend that listens and understands. I've been in many dark places in life and believe strongly in being supportive towards others due to the pain I know many go through in silence.
Tip No. 5 is absolutely correct! THANK YOU for bringing that to our attention. Those kinds of insights are SO import, yet SO lacking. Thank you Harris.
There's a script available for OBS that allows you to mark a timestamp and it records it to a CSV file. When I'm streaming, I'm recording my entire long-form stream while simultaneously running the replay buffer for the Aitum vertical plugin. This way, I can setup a multifunctional action in stream deck to both record the replay buffer footage (3 minutes in vertical) and timestamp that spot in the long-form recording so I can decide if it's worth editing into long-form content as well.
I tried multi streaming, but if you don't have a big upload speed, it will lag and buffer. My speed is only 22 mbps. I tried to stream to YT and Twitch at the same time and there was a huge delay and buffering issue. Thanks for the tips. I think Tip 3 stood out the most for me. I do stream long live streams. I don't have time to make videos. I just really go live for fun and don't really look at subs and all that. It's depressing. I just like to go live and chat and have a good time. Not trying to quit my day job here haha.
Tip #5 - Go for that. That’s the rocky path with more obstacles but be supportive and kind regardless of what you record/stream. It will be rewarding on the long run. Dark and crazy may bring you a 1 min fame… but it’s not valued. On the other hand being a good person will make you king - during your streams and also in life.
Love that last tip. My son grew up watching that era of “it’s just a joke man” humor where it’s funnier if it’s mean. :/ I really regret letting him watch those type of gamers and streamers.
Thank you for the great video. Confirmed to me that I'm on a good path starting my streaming journey. What's the genre or type of background music you used in this video? Although Streambeats has amazing options for soft/sweet type of beats, I have a hard time finding the more upbeat type like used in this video.
I have watched a few of your videos, you always have great information. I subscribed today because today, you may have given out the best information I have heard in a long time.. Thank you , way to stay positive, keep it up man.
Thanks for all of this, especially that last part. Darkness is prevalent in the universe, light is special and finite. Be the light, we need more light.
Harris, I've learned a lot from your videos, I appreciate you so much. One question I have is about safety. Do you use a VPN while livestreaming? I worry about latency issues, but I moreso worry about people being able to pinpoint my location.

There are times when I just want to do on YT what i do on Twitch... be relaxed.
Great video Harris, as always! Thank you for giving us hope and the knowledge to pursue our dreams. 🙏
how is it a great video? harris has done nothing but fail as a streamer lol
@@BodieMoto Sounds like you’re failing as a person. Harris has had a lot of success.
I realized the whole streaming less thing and that’s been my biggest thing this year. I used to stream 3-4 times a week, but now it’s more like 1-2 so I can work in content.
I think it’s overall helped my channel but I still have a long way to go
Hey I know you. 😉
@@Ducain_Plays hi!
Love your final segment there: "In a world of increasing darkness, please choose to be a light." Kudos, Harris. Happy we found your channel!
i effin love this Harris.. your the true goat for continuing to provide us with better tactics and formulas' to better increase our brand awareness and growth.. honestly this is coming from a small content creator aka an artist trying to grow on large scale your knowledge is what keeps me still grinding even when i have under 100 followers across all platforms. i did the exact thing you said not to do which is post on every platform(facebook, instagram, tik tok, rarely on twitter but yes i was posting on all of them and that didnt do anything but make me feel like im going backwards rather than forward.
keep up with the amazing work you do. but side note can you make a vod on how to grow with each platform or at least your suggestions.. i believe this type of vod will do alot of ppl justice and really give them a foundation to start off of..
Thank you, for all the hints!
This was an AMAZING video, particularly that last point. Thank you Senpai Gaming, you're one of the good ones ❤❤
Thank you for the final tip/plea!
Keep Shining! ❤
Thank you for the advice as always. I tend to stream to twitch but am thinking of expanding over to youtube as well. My fiancee and I have a blast playing together, so I hope that I can make others smile with my content.
Thank you Harris for all the advice you've given throughout the years, and all the music you've created. You're a treasure to the streaming world.
What was the song in the beginning of the video? Sounded like Bard music. A Bard stream beats album would be crazy if it doesn't already exist
Been doing the notebook trick for so long, but never heard anyone suggest it before!
This was really helpful, lately i struggle to keep up energy to stream after work so i reduced it to 2 days a week to have a more fun stream, while posting 3 shorts/tiktoks daily. Longer videos are something i need to work on as well. Next im going to look into multistreaming :)
Might wanna add a text card update to this video, since twitch allows multistreaming now. :D
All I wanna say is thank you, you're one of the people I watch that gives me inspiration and spark to make my dreams into reality. I hope to create an amazing community one day that is nothing but positive, and this is the push I needed to start. Hope to be able to play with you one day, stay awesome!
you will get there at some point! just don't give up ;))
thank you very much, I won't give up@@kleffies
That last bit of advice is the realest thing I've heard someone say on TH-cam. Thanks for the tips. 👍🏾👍🏾
Appreciate you, Harris! And the effort you put in to still have a quality shot while on vacation! :D
Even on holidays, bringing us the insights and light. Hope the rest of your trip is (was?) great
The last one was actually a really effing great tip. Thanks Harris!
Tip 3 is probably the most important I think. If you care about money success makes total sense, but if you don't it does the same for your mental health. I mean, I don't think there is a problem with an occasional "go live" and enjoy the stream kind of mindset, but if you have a project (or other things going on in life), it is really important to prioritize when you go live, so you can be doing the other things you need and enjoy.
ok the message at the end made me sub...youre a cool guy...the internet need more of you.
Thanks for being a positive influence! "Be a light." *thank you*
Great advice as always but that last tip 1000% words to live by ❤
I’ve been streaming for 8 or so years, very close to quitting as get like 5 viewers or less average so hopefully once I’ve watched this video it’s some motivation!
How much money have you earned in those 8 years? Is it viable at all?
What is your Twitch name?
@@ladycake1515mainly stream on TH-cam
My twitch is vipmandan though
I spend too much time editing my streams down for TH-cam content; if that could be automated in some way... woooooo boiiii that'd be amazing. lol
the end got me subscribed... what a wonderful person.. i wish you the best senpai.. you gave me so much courage to start streaming.. thank you!!
I love it. I use the vertical app every stream. Do you have any videos on how to multi stream using restream? Or how to stream to more than 2 at once?
Tip #5 was the best tip. I hope the aspiring young creators take it to heart.
Great video ❤
yooo Ali love your vids!
Two notable quotes:
"In a world of increasing darkness, please choose to be a light."
I vibe with that - though, it sure seems the almighty algorithm does not. This is a reflection of society, to an extent. There's only one way we can change that... STOP CLICKING EVIL STUFF
"A father to child talk from your stream daddy."
LOL I'm just gonna leave that one where it sits. Thank you for the advice, daddy. No, but really, I do appreciate when big names do stuff like this.
video starts at 2:40
Thanks for using your platform and voice to spread positivity.
I especially loved the message at the end! Stay blessed man! 🙌
Happy to call you stream daddy any day 😂 That last point is so crucial, thank you for all that you do!
Great vid, love the life life lesson/blurb at the end. Also, I love that animated channel ad banner
"please choose to be a light" - I loved your closing comments! Well said
I tried multi streaming, but if you don't have a big upload speed, it will lag and buffer.
Big props on that finish! We need more lights now more than ever.
I love the tips on this video. I’m excited to implement some of these tips. Thank you making this 🙏
Tip #5 - Go for that.
Thank you for the ending- you got a fan now... I was wavering towards it anyway, but now... let's F'n Go homie!
I have watched a few of your videos, you always have great information. I subscribed today because today, you may have given out the best information I have heard in a long time.. Thank you , way to stay positive, keep it up man.
Such a super wholesome ending. Once again, such a great video with excellent tips. Thank you so much.
Really helpful video, working on making my way back into the content creator and scene and this really taught me a lot🙏
I love this guy he is so Humble and IMO makes the best content. Keep up the good work man we love you and all the good words you say!
actual video starts at 2:41
Thanks for all of this, especially that last part.
Great call out about being a light and doing something useful with your content. Great vid.
lol sheeeeeesh why hit them with soooo much real info I appreciate you bro I've been watching for years now you've come a long way for sure
