The story in the Jackson's "100 Ways" MV is a sort of ancient Chinese Romeo and Juliet story. In the MV Jackson is an ancient Chinese soldier who has come back to life after being killed to find his lover and resurrect her so they can spend eternity buried together. So the backup dancers are his troops who are there to serve him and to pledge their loyalty to Jackson their leader, etc. That is why it looks like he is controlling and commanding them. The Kata hand movements are the spell they are using to bring everyone back to life.
The story in "100 Ways" is actually sort of connected to the story in "Jackson's MV for "Pretty Please ft. Galantis." You should watch "Pretty Please" next, and at the end of that MV (make sure to watch all the way to the end of the credits) you will get to hear him explain the concept behind the 2 MVs and what the stories are about.
Jackson Wang is one of the rappers in the Kpop group GOT7. He is Chinese, from Hong Kong. He grew up attending an international school in Hong Kong were the primary language spoken was English. So he is now fluent in English, and he speaks English almost better than his native Cantonese. So, when it comes to his solo work, most of his songs are in English or Mandarin. Jackson speaks 4 languages fluently: Cantonese, English, Korean and Mandarin.
As a soloist he is a global artist. He writes and composes and produces his own music and he is a music mogul -- he runs is own label/company with his crew called Team Wang. Because most of Jackson's songs are in English, and he is a fluent English speaker, he does a lot of promotional activities in the U.S. as well, and has collaborated with several famous U.S. artists.
Jackson is gaining a reputation as one of the biggest and most famous singer/songwriter/producer/dancer/artists in China, alongside Lay (Zhang Yixing) from EXO. They are both international powerhouses who dominate in all aspects of the Chinese entertainment industry and internationally.
Jackson has 100% control over all aspects of his solo work because he owns it all himself. It's all part of his company. However, "100 Ways" actually was choreographed and the MV was produced under the direction of the Kinjaz. The Kinjaz have done a lot of projects with Jackson and several of his projects are in collaboration with them. He was a Junior Olympian in Fencing and heavily involved in martial arts AND comes from Olympian parents. His skill is hard earned and deserves respect. Off camera he is so needy and goofy. Jackson Wang is a musical genius and an insane dancer (he has won dancing competitions in China, and is easily one of the best dancers in kpop). I get why you're surprised about the talents he's showing here because he hardly got to show them within got7. I'm so glad he has a (globally successful) solo career where he can do what he wants.
This song was on American radio charts and it broke records for a Chinese artist and a kpop solo artist. Ever since this song, all his subsequent solo songs have charted on American Top 40 radio. This is why you keep hearing his music at the gym!

You're right, they're a top tier dance crew dancing with him - they're The Kinjaz, who are one of the greatest dance crews in the world. Kinjaz and Jackson are very close friends and they have worked together on many projects.

I had the same reaction when I first saw this video. I believe she is the same lady from his Pretty Please video, Jackson is fantastic and I worried that he would not get back with Got7 because he is so damn FIRE!!!!
Yeah sometimes once artists go solo, it’s hard for them to go back but Got7 all love each other too much!
The crew is called Kinjaz, and they were on one of the last ABDCs. A few of the crew members have done other kpop songs as well, to many to list at the moment. Kinjaz have choreographed a few of Jackson Wang's songs, the most notable being Titanic - Jackson Wang ft Rich Brian, and also Pretty Please. Fun fact about Pretty Please, Kinjaz were in america and they taught him through video. Teaching overseas man haha

Thirdly, Jackson is a dancer. I can't think of the show but he was on 2 I believe Chinese dance crew shows. When you watch Titanic you will get more of those moves.

Facts!
GOT7 members are known to be probably the most versatile group. All the members can sing rappers included which is rare. They vocalists can also rap too. And they’re also all 7 of them good dancers like there’s no « weaker » members. Such a composition is non existing in Kpop as usually they have a very distinct role but with GOT7 it’s super confusing to know who’s doing what because of that and because their line distribution etc are super fair and equal
FYI the dancers in the 100 ways are the kinjaz ! If you’re a dancer or 90s baby you most certainly know them from America’s best dance crew. They were the most popular after the Jabbawokeez! Fun fact the Kinjaz and Jackson became super good friends and collaborated a lot on his songs ( titanic, and choreographed other of his songs) he’s also very often at their dojo where they train. They also choreographed GOT7 lullaby ! And Jackson also performed with the Jabbawokeez when they were in China !
