The video is supposed to show how he defies death to go search for his lovers grave as they been seperated. He goes out to find her and when they reunite, they finally get to rest together. Jackson is from Hong Kong and so he took inspiration from ancient chinese stories and costumes for this music video. He did so to share a part of his culture. Doesn't really have anything to do with Anime as it's Japanese. You shoukd watch some historical chinese dramas, then you'll understand. These hand movements are very common there.
