Great looking knife! Always liked the Canoe patterns!!
The Canoe is a pattern I very much enjoy, and this one is exceptionally well built. I just don't understand the price discrepancy with the Blue Mule being the same.
Simple, clean, and no swedges! I wish they would get rid of the swedges like they are trying to do with the R stamp bolsters
This is a Blue Mule remake with different covers. So all the good of the blue mule reproduced here including the blades without swedging. Thanks Steve.
Gorgeous!!!
Thank you Gruggs. I do like those RR canoes.
Subtle..yet attractive Red should be brighter
Not real flashy. It's a solid piece though. Thanks for having a look, Bruce.
I like the color a lot.
It's a little weird to me, but okay. Thanks Kelly.
If you look at these covers from a little bit of a distance it almost looks like wood grain. Pretty neat! Though I will admit I do like the looks of the blue mule a little more. Cheers, buddy!
Yes, they do have a bit of that look you describe. Thanks David.
I think this series will replace the blue mule, and the price increase is just the overall trend. I don’t mind the red/black color - the wasp is a bit bright for me, and the blue is a bit flat. Looks like a good, solid knife, like the blue mules have been. That said, I think I’d spend a few more bucks and get bone.
Solid logic, just don't think even with the prices up that it should go up 40% in cost. Inflation hasn't risen that darn much.
Thanks for showing. I'll probably add this one to the canoe collection.
Awesome, glad to have helped. It's well built, I only question why they are charging more.
Good point to know about. 🙂
Thanks Gizmo. No sense wasting money unless you really like this one.
RR are getting good a fit and finish some knifes (CASE) need to step it up a bit for the prices they ask.
I agree. Just because they are American made doesn’t mean they can charge more and the quality suffers
I'm gonna give Case time to rectify their situations, but they do need to improve
.
That is a beautiful Rough Ryder canoe. The music at the end of video makes me want to pull out my guitar play to it LOL
The music if you're interested is here th-cam.com/video/qvjIin8T0oY/w-d-xo.html
@@ThriftyKaniffy thank you TK! Music has always been my interest! Love knives too
Nice review TK. Wish they would do something different for the main blade, perhaps a clip point. They could keep with the vessel theme and call it a “Clipper.” Just a thought. If there is a clip point bladed canoe out there someone please enlighten me!
Not aware of one Matthew, off the top of my head.
I have always thought a canoe with a large spear blade but with a skinner clip instead of the small blade would make the perfect field knife. The spear for working wood and building shelters and the clip for skinning ‘critters’ caught/shot for my lunch.
Just got a rough Ryder reserve clasp knife excellent fit and finish , perfect
Still considering that one, and looking forward to the Wharncliffe RRR coming soon.
Don't have a canoe nice and snappy nice one to have with 2 blades ok 👌👍
The canoe is a terrific pattern. Check one out.
Nice knife , I agree about the scales , the color scheme is a bit subtle.
At $15 or so the quality in craftsmanship and materials is there. Case should
take a lesson and stop resting on their laurels .
Great review . Peace . Be Free .
Construction is fantastic, but this knife just reinforces how good a value the Blue Mule series is.
Besides the blade steel, this one has to be made in the same factory as the RRR.
There are some things that hint at that, aren't there. Thanks Alpine.
I wish RR did more bone handles
Seems they've gotten away from them in recent years, but historically speaking they've made a lot. Thanks Prop.
color of scales sort of imitates a dark wood, does not look bad on the video, not a bad price if they keep up the quality in build, thanks for showing it!
No not a bad price, just seems weird to charge 4 dollars more. Inflation surely hasn't risen by that amount since the Blue Mules were released. Good quality though.
I like mine a lot, but it's just a little heavy for a canoe. The RR2297RF that came out last month is a much better knife for the money.
I would probably favor the newer Fox series canoe as well. Thanks, wegomoe.
@@ThriftyKaniffy They are back in stock at SMKW.
Cool Canoe TK 👌
A traditional pattern I also like - nice, deep spear point too!
I'm gonna have to check that puppy out, for sure...
Agree with you on the coverings, however I love the blade's buddy 😍
Great video my friend,
Atb Gus 👍
I do as well just don't understand the price difference as mentioned. Thanks Gus.
Looks great
Love those clean bolsters, Rusty! Thanks buddy.
Is it just me, or does the main blade seem to sit rather high? With other canoes i have, the main blade doesn't sit as tall.
Perhaps a little higher than average I'd say Thanks, Todd.
The only knife I have from the Blue Mule line is the Sunfish but it's an excellent knife.
Great video👍
Yes, I agree I really like that sunfish too. This one is nice, just curious about the increased price.
Rough Ryder certainly make a good job of the Canoe pattern, nice to see bolsters with just a ring thank goodness no big R, the combination doesn't quite work as you say, shame black and red should have looked good together.
It's just okay, not sure if they wanted such a muted color to mimic a wood grain or that they just didn't get out of it what they were hoping for. Thanks Lewis.
Good music
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Randel.
Awesome colours and no shield - I can’t wait for it to become available in the UK 🇬🇧. By the way what is the music at the end? I want that too!
Glad you enjoyed the knife. Well built. Thanks Matthew

Reminds me of the “Mule” series and looks like it may have been machined in the same shop. I will purchase one just because I collect canoes but REALLY not impressed with this one. It was a big Miss. The way it’s put together leaves big gaps between the blades. Unnecessarily wide springs. Thanks for reviewing.
Not the tightest tolerances there in the spacing, but I tell you, I'd rather have that than blades rubbing. Thanks HAKD.
Nice knife, but I prefer the natural bone covers myself
Yes, I enjoy the natural materials as well. Solid build on this one, though.
It's a 9.00 knife.
Right? Blue Mule is the way to save.
No Big R win! 🛶 I agree about the color scheme.
Thanks Pietro.
