This is how you make a knife/tool video. No stupid intros, no BS talk and no closed boxes! Straight to the point! Well done, and an another great SA knife. 👍
I've had one of these since they first came out. The reason the saw blade sticks out a little bit is so you can open it with one hand by placing that tip on something. Victoria was his mother's name and Inox is the Steal so the two of them together made the name. I carry mine on my ifak. Because the belt loop is so wide I can put the two Molly straps through it and secure it to the ifak in the back . The reason they have the saw blade is since 2018 a federal bylaw stipulates that all four sides of all cars have to have laminated shatterproof safety glass. And if you're going to punch a hole in the glass always go at the corner because if you hit the glass in the middle it will just bounce back.
Thank you for making the video. Very nice emergency tool to have around. However, the glow in the dark seems to me, is a marketing scheme. For the tool to glow. It needs to be kept out of its pouch and in a location that receives plenty of light. i.e. on top of the dashboard or near a window. That could present other problems. At work, we use glow in the dark flashlights. They are located in the outside wall of some cubicles that have a ceiling light overhead. The flashlights are perpetually in a (glow in the dark) charged state.
Since joining the Fire Dept I’ve bought the Letherman Raptor and Benchmade SOCP Rescue Tool. This Victorinox is very intriguing even compared to those great tools. Great review!
Great review mate ! You might reconsider mounting it somewhere visible in your Jeep. When crims look in to see what's there to steal, they'll see it and assume you've got a weapon/tools worth stealing too !! ☹️ Stealth for the Win 👍
This is a excellent tool well designed for its purpose. I used to keep one in my turnout gear I used it in training a couple of times. We have bigger and better tools on the fire truck. I have long moved it to my personal vehicle. The Leatherman Raptor is far more useful for me as a Firefighter/EMT. The SAK works well, they should have included a O2 wrench for the American market to open oxygen cylinders which could be punched out of the screwdriver. Overall I like the tool it is very specialized for a specific application. The Raptor is the more useful tool for First Responder's IMHO.
I was into Victorinox big time a few years ago and ended up getting several models, most of whose names I’ve forgotten. But I have one tool in red scales that has exactly this form factor, including the screwdriver and awl in back at 90 degrees, and the exact same larger locking screwdriver on the blade side. Differences are the locking blade is not serrated, and instead of the seatbelt cutter and window saw it has a wood saw and a metal file. Layout is the same otherwise. Oh, and of course it doesn’t have a glass breaker. As with all mine I replaced the toothpick with a Tortoise gear firefly ferro rod. I have an old car knife with a seatbelt cutter, but this is way more complete and their adding the quality pouch is a plus. Thanks for the first look, to me anyway. 😉
@@toolgear I’m looking now on SAKWiki; It’s a 111mm 4 layer tool. I did find the Jumpmaster which is very close to the Rescue Tool, also with a seatbelt cutter, but instead of the glass saw it has a regular wood saw, and it has no glass breaker, or pouch. It substitutes the small screwdriver / can opener in the slot taken by the Rescue glass breaker. By the way, the Wiki notes that the Rescue Tool also came in black scales starting in 2008 the year after it was introduced: “In 2008 Victorinox released a black-handled version, with the regular one-handed partially serrated blade. Note this version was supplied with a black sheath, not the regular yellow one.” The RT was also awarded the IWA International Knife Award Knife of the Year in 2007. I’m curious now and will keep looking… Found it, it’s the “Locksmith!” The other main difference other than the two blade types is that the Rescue Tool has the belt cutter open on the blade side, and the glass saw opens on the butt or large screwdriver side, while on the Locksmith both the wood saw and file open on the blade side. I forgot to mention it also has the standard small screwdriver and can opener on the blade side in place of the glass breaker. I bought it to have the thinnest tool I could find with a metal file. Comparing them all, the Jumpmaster is really the closest to the RT, but you’d have to spend at least $12 more to get an equivalent pouch, and no glass breaker. If you were in the woods more though the wood saw might be a better tool than the specialty glass saw. (?). Thanks again.
I've seen the Victorinox promo video that shows how to use all the tools (which you referred to). It seemed impressive. However, I don't see myself ever having to saw through a windshield so I have no reason for it. A nice gift for first responders, though. And I have a glow in the dark Climber and Classic SD and those are cool. :)
The toothpick may be useful sometimes for other than teeth, maybe there's debris in a wound that needs to be removed. Why does Victorinox not add a Firestarter [Firefly Stick] instead of a toothpick and Fireant Firestarter on the corkscrew? Especially with the Camper or Huntsman, for camping.
Probably due to cost on the fact that if they don’t have a specific machine that installs the implement, they have to do it by hand which significantly increases the cost of the tool to the consumer.
I think these are best suited to civilians to aid with self rescue. Firefighters are unlikely to use features like the glass saw we carry better purpose built tools on our trucks. The seatbelt cutter is certainly unique. If you’ve just crashed your car and are having a rubbish day do you really want someone coming near you with that? The hidden blade ones are more casualty friendly. Just my opinion.

Yeah, that’s a Fairpoint probably won’t be charged it deployed from the sheath but still kind of neat
I own the Hunter XL, had similar tools. As an emt I’ve used it many times.
really, good to know. Thank you
Great tool hacave a Comercial Truvk mm license may need to fight my way out some day carried it for ten years great tool !!!
Just found u bro from England 🏴,excellent channel n content, can't wait to see more, peace out...
thank you. Stay safe
I saw a video where a rescuer goes to town on a car breaking the glass and removing the windshield. The tool works perfectly for what it is designed.
really? Will have to look for that video
@toolgear I think it's just the product demo video made by Victorinox as others have commented.

Good idea on the concealment concept

Love it.
I've had this knife floating around in my truck for 5+ years and how in the hell did I miss that it glows in the dark?.....too funny.
I actually didn’t know that either for a few years

Had mine for years since I used to be a Rally marshal. Fortunate that I have never had to use it.

Does the belt loop on the case unsnap so that it can go into PALS/MOLLE webbing?

Amazon type in knafs - mat/mouse pad

Cork screw? For DWI😅
lol hopefully not but good for knot🪢

200 bucks with tax
