Nothing better than waking up with a new lesson and a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning
Ha! Enjoy!
Wholeheartedly agree, especially a lesson from Corey!
Corey, you are a born teacher, an awesome guitar player and definitely a master of blues music. Thank you for making everything so clear and giving so much desire to play.
Agree, Corey is awesome Teacher and fantastic player!
FANTASTIC lesson. I made a breakthrough!!!
Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Frickin Awesome Corey! These voicings really add color and feel, thanks!
Glad it was helpful
Just what I need, thanks! Awesome. Wish you millions of subs.
Awesome thx!
It's great when you do these
Awesome coolness Cory, excellent instruction..
Sweet, I learned a lot in this one...thanks!
Thanks Corey. Great stuff.
Fabbydoo lesson as always. Thanks again.
Love a good fabbydoo from you!
Wow ! what a great explanation! you are an excellent teacher and I learned a lot (guitar and English !) Thanks a lot . Greetings from Paris.
You're very welcome!
Tks , you are the real blues guy 👍🏻😎🌿✨✨✨👏🏻✌🏻🙌🏻
Working on 9 and 6 chords dug around fun this brilliant lesson it has really helped in understanding them , loved the pdf and backing track , really cements the information down, thank you Corey I'm having some fun with the backing track with little bit improve , lol
Brilliant lesson cheers
Lord! my fingers feel like they know what they're doing now! you're awesome teacher Corey
That’s great! Thx!
Amazing teaching skills! Thx
Many thanks!
Man, your teaching is superb!
Thx so much!
Great lesson Corey! I know most all of this by ear but your explanation is Golden to me as I have an attention deficit of sorts; could just be laziness, I dunno but it’s also helped me to be able to play professionally since 1969. I do however understand enough theory to get the understanding of what you’re teaching. Thanks Sir!
Corey, I really like the way you teach. You keep it simple and engaging and don’t play so slow that you fall asleep. Great job and thank you!
Great lesson Corey...thanks!!
my pleasure
I have a hard time playing full chords because of my hand tremors. These 3 note chords using Key notes that identify the type of chords, are heck of a lot easier for me to play. I watched a couple of your other videos of you teaching these type of chords. Thanks for posting this! It makes playing a little easier for me.
Great Corey!! You're making me a better musician! Thank You so much! So clear, so clever, so useful!
Happy to help!
Thanks and I still have & use the bass preamp you sold me!
Chain Lighting ... it feels so good.
Thanks Corey!
Cool lesson. When I get frustrated trying to play hard stuff, I always go back to this type progression. Thanks
Great Lesson Corey! This was great timing with where I am in my learning and made a lot of sense to me. I will be able to apply this for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Fabulous stuff put so simple and to the point..
Subbed..
Many thx!!
Thanks Corey!
My pleasure
Corey, this is great revisit lesson- your explain is terrific. I know the chord patterns but used a stab/wild guess (which does get ”luckier” with time!) and just slide up or down to the right sounding place on the neck. Yea, it’s tentative… After this, I’ll be hitting these Chords with shocking certainty! Thanks.
get alot of different grooves playing around with these shapes, thanks/muchas gracias
Great! My pleasure.
Top tips, thank you very much.
Very welcome!
So fun. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly, cory.
Love it just as much on review!
Great lesson Corey! Really demonstrates how to get a jazzier Blues feel with chords that are very playable almost immediately with a few hours practice! Love your lessons, have learned so much!
CoreyCongilio,Thank you, thank you,thank you!
My pleasure!
6:03 When I first learned that the 5th was a bit superfluous I was really confused. Wasn't it an integral part of the triad? Then I started listening closely to the harmonies created by the intervals. Listen to the root and the 5th together. They really meld in such a way that the 5th doesn't add any color. It sort of adds thickness to the sound but not color (which is why it's so great in a power chord). But dropping the 5th doesn't change the quality of the sound so you don't need it. Then if the bass player is hammering on the root you could possible drop that too. That's why the 3rd and 7th are so important to jazz.
Hence a power chord, basically what youre not supposed to do in classical music.
Thank you, I was looking for an empty arms by SRV theory lesson, but I found this randomly. Its very similar
thank you Corey!
My pleasure
Very cool, nice feel
Thx!
That's jazzy blues accompaniment, great
very nice man and thanks 😘
Chain Lightning . ... It feels soooooooo goooood. Love that song.
Yes!
Fantastic lesson Corey. Thanks so much.
Oh boy, this is a good one...great approach, went from panic to , wtf 3 notes, oh thats why...great stuff thanks for the great break down..mahalo
Corey, you made me blow dust off my old Tele. Thank you.
Sounds like Chain Lightning by Steely Dan love it man0
So much gold on your channel! Thank you, these are amazing lessons. Had a few questions on dom7 chords on the tip of my brain for the last few days that are now answered. Thank you!
YES~! The right angle plug cable make an appearance. It's frees your right arm movement across the top, plus I'm not going crazy now. Thanks Corey~!
It was the one that was plugged in at the time lol
Thanks for explaining this so thoroughly. Now I can go get Chain Lightning by Steely Dan again. Donald Fagan was breaking it down on the keyboard for a jazz pianist friend on TH-cam. Then there is the Rick Derringer solo over the 6th 9th thing. Some king of minor pentatonic with a few other notes thrown in. Oh, you are a great player. Makes it really fun to watch your lessons. Top notch.
I love this stuff! Thanks for the lesson!🤘
My pleasure!
Thanx Corey. This lesson is really good. Easy to understand and for me, I was able to paly along with you almost right away.
Glad you think so
Now this was fun!! Thanks Corey!!
Oh good!
Thanks for the explain on the chords with the root removed. I have your course at Brett Pappa "Complete Blues 1&2" and both are great, but the idea of having chords without roots was kinda throwing me even though I've incorporated them into my playing (as my skill level at the moment allows) because they just sound so cool. I tend to over think so I came to the mental conclusion that the chord has such a strong suggestion, even without the root it works and sounds great and that's what counts. Thanks for the good work Corey.
Hey thx for the support with those! Happy to help!
Gold 😎 You're such a clear, concise conveyor of information
Thank you
Corey, great lesson. Awesome! Answered a lot of questions. Brilliant and simple! Thank you!👍
Glad it was helpful FJ!
Great lesson! Glad you talked about the “Why and What” of these chord shapes. My teacher is working with me on Fat Chord voicings...similar concept, just the bottom four strings, leaving the root note of the 1 in the bass. A la Freddie Green.
So many answers in Freddie Green stuff. I dig into that during the swing band days. Glad you enjoyed
GREAT COREY. I just love playing rhythm guitar, groovin' with band is where I got my yaya's. Tone'n'groove.
That's where it's at!
You have my thumb up👍 as always😉
Thank you kindly
Superb lesson! Clear and concise and so much fun to play! 😀👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for clarifying that the 9 11 and 13 are added to the dom 7
Corey, your golf swing might suck but your blues swing is always on par!
Haha, appreciate that!
Awesome Blues Tones 6th and 9th.
👍🎵🙏
Yes indeed!
Brilliant lesson Corey loved it well explained
Thx man!
Love learning this Steely Dan rhythm and blues style....
Haha, yup!
Corey just gave you all the building-blocks for Stevie Rays "Cold Shot". Go get it. The song, and the shot. :D
Wrong, it's empty arms there sparky.
Another great lesson Corey.. Cheers
Thanks Corey! This fits right in with the rhythm sections of your Complete Blues Vol 2 course. The way you explain the theory behind the chord shapes and formations is so very useful!!! Great lesson!!
Glad to help!
Love your videos, you are a great teacher
Thx so much!
I rarely post but this is awesome. Truly the best, most clear and useful explanation that I’ve seen. Explaining the theory -the relationship to the triad , forming the 6th, then showing the relationship to 9th was really great info. Awesome and then demonstrating technique. Immediately incorporated this into a jam and actually understand it !!!Thank you Corey -I also really dig your TrueFire stuff as well.
Hey thx so much for that
Thanks for another great lesson Corey! I love how you went to the second inversion set to change things up like that.
Glad you dug!
Fantastic thanks Corey
Great stuff for my upcoming gigs Corey. Never can learn enough. Thank you.
That’s awesome!
Great lesson Corey, with excellent theory
Appreciate that
Thanks Corey….excellent lesson once again…you da man!
My pleasure!
Great lesson man. About as good as free lessons get. When I heard the example I heard " You're gonna miss me little baby, the day that I'm gone" I love anything even remotely SRV
Haha thx! I like to think so 😉
Great lesson! Really appreciate it! Well done!
Thx!
Such valuable lessons! Thank you!
My pleasure
There is always cool info in your lessons Corey. Thank you🙏🙏🙏
I appreciate that!
Very clear and usful lesson Corey, like always I appreciate a lot your gifts, thank you so much!
My pleasure!
'Neck real estate' :-) You are a poet, mate.
Haha thx!!
You are a brilliant teacher. Very interesting stuff!
Thanks! 😃
Very nice, thx! Regards from Germany!
A really great lesson Corey. Thank you very very much. Could you play a little longer? I get inspiration that way. And delight. D
Maybe next time!
I have been looking for this kind of sliding riff..and you made it easy Corey!
Great!
Another really clearly explain lesson. I feel like I'm finally starting to understand how chords, melody and rhythm fit together. Theory is pitched at just the right level for me. I'm working through your Complete Blues Guitar Vol 1 lessons as well, so my brain is getting wired with all this great stuff!
Wow, thx! Hope you’re enjoying it!
Thank you Corey. Amazing how the same fingering of a chord can result in different chords "names" depending upon the context of the vamp and what the bass note is, whether you're playing it or not...
Totally!
Oh if six was nine, nice lesson with some chords getting closer to jazz, love it, thank you Corey another good job well done !
Nice!
I had no idea there were d chords without a d note. Who took the d? Thanks for these lessons. They've helped some. Still confused years later after beginning theory wayyy too late in my playing. Funny how I've used all the chords I'm learning about yet don't understand much at all
Great lesson..opened my eyes to loads of potential all over the fretboard
Great to hear!
I have to say that this was one of the best lessons I have tuned into anywhere....it looks quite simple but opens up loads of possibilities
Love that!
cool stuff, thanks from asia
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff as always. Love this one, too. You made my day, dude!
Love to hear that
another well presented lesson, wish I lived in Nashville, would meet your for lessons...lol
I wish more peeps would start their videos with the groove being taught.
Thanks for this one ! Excellent! Maybe a good start for another video with same chords but another tips or idea ? It woukd be nice
Great lesson Corey, I thought I was listening to Little Walter...Just need to include the harp...Thanks.
Oh yeah!!!!
Awesome stuff as usual. 😎
Thanks for the visit
Love ur lessons bro!
I appreciate that!
I always say not all great players are also great at teaching, but you sure are! Can you maybe explain how you vibrato chords? I find it difficult without muting adjacent strings, especially on the rootless 9th voicing.
