- OVERWATCH 2 WINSTON GUIDE! Winston has a whole new ability in Overwatch 2 plus some other changes! This guide explains what they are, how they change Winston's gameplay, and how you should play.

i only play winston, but I've noticed your gameplay is directly effected by if and when your team adapts to playing with winston... Some groups are stubborn AF!!! but in a decent group, I usually have 3-6k damage and 15-30k mitigation, I don't know if that's good or not, but I won every battle up until I hit silver, then I hit a wall... and fell back to bronze, and can't seem to get back to silver now... I know I'm terrible at using the punch, and I'm not too great with the long range zapper... but I've been practicing, but i seem to do better by just ignoring the secondary weapon and punch for the most part... but I go absolutely crazy sometimes... kiting and owning groups while my group is dead lol
played overwatch very casually in 2016/17 but been maining ow2 and having so much fun, today i tried winston for the first time after mainly playing dmg/sup and i fell in love with his playstyle. This video helped a lot and im already starting to carry quickplay games. just got enough wins to play competitive & this guide gave me the confidence to jump into ranked. thx bro.

I'm really enjoying your guides! I swapped mains from support to tank from OW1 to OW2 because more of my friends play and like to support. I used to be a super aggressive Dota2 position 5 player and loved the idea of taking the enemy focus away from my team and getting out alive, which tank actually allows me to do in OW2 so I've really been loving winston and ball. This is going to really help me refine that aspect if I can focus on improving it in game.

wasn't a big fan of winston back in ow 1 but in ow 2 he's one of my main tank really enjoyed his secondary fire for finishing off fleeing enemies

Learn aiming a little bit 😂 Gonna struggle when you’re forced off winston due to hard counters 😂 Happends way too often you dominate on monkey and they go hog reaper and mei lol
@@PereiraCJ020 I’ll have it in mind thanks xd, but for now I’ve been playing a lot of Moira(since nobody wants to play healers xd) and I think she quickly became my main. I don’t feel like I have to aim as much with her.

Hi Dunmuir! I was wondering if you could do a more advanced video on playing Winston in the winston reaper sojourn kiriko lucio mirror comp? I'm trying to learn Winston for my team's scrims / games and I struggle to get a lot of value compared to heroes like dva and zarya
I've played Overwatch since 2019, and in that time I never touched Winston, except for about an hour total.
Needless to say, this helped me realize how fun the Monke is. So, thanks for that

why i feel i cant do dmg with winston?

What do you do when you take so much damage that you can't ever seem to get close enough to deal any damage and jumping behind the tanks results in instant death? Is it a healer problem, do I switch heroes, or is there something I am doing wrong?
You need to drop onto the enemies from high grounds or come from angles the enemy doesn’t expect you. Don’t just expect to walk into the enemy and not tank a bunch of damage.
basically you have to remember that while Winston is a tank, he still benefits pretty heavily from flanking. The longer it takes the enemy to find your head, the better.
I was wondering why it works when you stand at the choke on Nepal and zap away? When I try to do the same, they simply walk through and melt me before I can jump away
He has good support teammates
Because I pay attention to how long I can stay there, when is a good time to engage on the enemy, and things like this. When you watch the video you can see I’m waiting til the enemy is trying to push through the choke to engage. Too early and they just shoot me

I feel like i can do the same with roadhog, hook target healers mostly, take MIT for the team etc. If ur good with hooks then its just as good
Winston does more for his team with the bubble and being able to dive without much consequence
I am struggling with my placements because my team does not move with me nor do they peel for me after I peel for them, what can I do to carry harder? I double kills and damage every match I kill supports every fight and we lose every match I am stumped on what I can do better to rank up. I would really appreciate some advice, my teammates feel much less experienced whilst the enemies all support one another.
Just focus on yourself and improving. There’s always things you can do to get better, and there will be just as bad teammates on the enemy team as your team if you play a lot of games

@@shock-1048 best thing is just to focus on why you die each time you do. Just think about what you could've done differently, like how you could've positioned differently or how you could've used your cooldowns differntyl

Cleave into multiple people with it, or solo out a squishy enemy, best choice are supports

Its hard for me to climb as a Damage, and i played winston my instincts is to jump on their backline and i enjoyed playing him compared to sojourn and soldier, im a new player btw currently at bronze but im enjoying OW compared to Valorant that i quit because games are too long and aiming need to be accurate and alot of try hards
Should you just switch if the enemy team immediately switches to zarya, reaper, bastion? Having that issue on console right now. It's easy to switch to zarya myself and just do the mirror but I'm finding zarya vs zarya everytime being boring.
Zarya isn’t a problem, reaper is difficult but you can play around it, bastion just isn’t worth playing into at all

OW2: good maps, good game modes, terrible balancing, permanent sustain meta, won’t be able to kill anything, and this will NEVER EVER change.
GUN EVO: scuffed maps, unenjoyable game modes, fundamental flaws in mobile suit interaction philosophies, imbalanced, but has the opportunity to improve
Very happy of this guide. But it seems too "simplified" for an advanced player (even if I'm plat 1 and sometimes diamond 5) who are your watchers imo.
I would have appreciated a ranked game (rather than qp) with more complex situations and maybe a whole game with explanations.
I really liked your guide on Ball when you gave explanations while playing. To be in your head is the more valuable for me.

Hmm.... you’ll get better by not swapping. But as long as you can consistently play away from where the reaper is then you’ll get enough value. And try and poke him out at range with the zap

I don't think I saw you successfully execute a 130dmg charge-jump-melee combo during this video. Do you actually think it's worthwhile to go for these? I think the risk/reward is just too unfavorable. Getting full damage means you must land right onto your enemy. You also have to land your charge shot, which is difficult especially if you have to land right on your enemy; if you overshoot, you'll need to do a 180 to hit the charge shot (for example, at 1:57, it looks like your charge shot hits the floor). I know people have trouble landing 180 primal swings after overshooting, let alone a charge shot. Also, after you execute your combo, there is a long delay before you can begin zapping again. To me, it seems more worthwhile to just zap on your way down for more consistent damage and a faster zap startup once you land. Would you agree? Or do you have tricks for landing the 130dmg combo more consistently?
So, I’d just changed my keybinds when I was making this video, so my mechanics were a bit off Lolol. If you can land on your target you should, and you should also use the zap a bit early unless you don’t need to bubble to block a cooldown. If you use your bubble it cancels your charged zap so you have to use it early in that case. As for how damage values work, landing with a punch and then using primary fire has about the same exact damage output as not punching and zapping as you’re coming in but it gives more burst damage and saves ammo
