As a 6’3 dude, I’ve had a 91 Chevy, 95 Chevy, 09 Ram, a ‘12 Ford, a 19 ram (only 3500 I’ve had), and I’ve always had this problem. In literally every truck the steering wheel gets in the way of my gauges. In my experience this isn’t a Chevy issue - I think it’s across the board.

I was looking for a Trailboss or AT4 this summer but due to Covid and the assembly plants being shut down I went and test drove a 2020 Ram Rebel. I was so impressed with the interior, ride quality, and that hemi I bought it the next day. Ram is legit.

I’m an inspector at Ford; and I own a 2020 trail boss if that tells you anything. The complaints you have with the interior I noticed right off the bat, especially the noise from the door handle. But looking deeper into the build of it I understand why, if you take it apart you see the end clip that has to be inserted first before you snap the clips into place. The noise comes from the gaps but also is more durable in terms of vibrations and longevity. One thing you did miss that most people wouldn’t notice is the offset of the bed to body. Your passenger side looking back is flush, while the driver side looking back the bed sticks out about half and inch. But safety, performance, maintenance, and overall trail boss is killing anything else around same price point. All the extras like tie down holes in bed, LEDs, tailgate, lift and shocks. As well as on star are things that out Chevy ahead of others in the market. My family drives Ford of course and will spend 53k on a truck with less features. The leather interior is amazing, i ceramic coated my whole inside and even with 20k miles on the truck I have 0 creases or wear. Love mine

I love the interior of my 2021 Ram. The guage cluster, center consol, display, heated rear seats, the materials, etc. They really paid attention to every detail. The damn cup holders in the driver's door are lined with beer coozy foam and it really keeps your drink cold. However, I've always loved the exterior look of the Chevy. Looks damn good

    • @jparra
      @jparra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I would have preferred the new ram to this trailboss I got but having previous knob shifter problems on my 2014 ram I got my second choice. It’s been good to me so far, but we will see in time. My ram had the koozie cup holders too. Loved them and storage compartments in the back

@@gmrtg1414 These 19-20 New Chevrolet Silverados are garbage. My 2019 LTZ Z71 has had 2 rounds of rear window leaks that damaged the headliner and the 8 speed transmission is clunky and shudders. On top of all that, the suspension constantly pops and creaks and I've never even went off road yet. Unbelievably low quality though and after 1 year ownership and 19k I can honestly say after having 5 Silverados....these will be my last GM period.

Also needed no front spacer to clear caliper. 100% stock suspension Trail Boss with no plans of a leveling kit. Very happy now with the wheel setup as stock was too sunk in. I love my 21 Trail Boss. Your more about looks and being noticed than utility.
It does great pulling 6K+ camper, cattle trailer and all kinds of other trailers with hay and equipment and stuff. It’s not a pavement queen either. It does very well off road and I put a Steel Craft bumper and winch on it. I’m 5’11” and have zero issue seeing gauges but I’m looking at them very little while driving anyway. I’m watching the road. I did add Rigid flush mounts in the rear steps which tremendously help backing up at night. I’ve got 2 radios in the hump and the antenna are on the toolbox. I put a small lift crane on the passenger side bed that stays hidden and helps me load generators and things.
We do have the same drop down steps with short wife problems.

Beginning in 2022, all console shifters will be completely phased out on all Silverado’s/GMC’s and replaced with same button shifters they implemented in the 2021 Yukon/Tahoe’s. Yesterday I traded a 2020 Ford Explorer for a new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Black with ball out package. Drove a 2020 F-150 and liked it but loved the Silverado and got more for the money. I disagree about fenders and side profile. I love the look of the truck and always have since the new design. I am not and have never been a truck person but this truck is so fun to drive and look at. Don’t regret the trade at all and yes as one commenter said go with LineX. This one I bought already had a sprayed in bed from factory.

Awesome review! I loved how you highlighted the good and the bad! GM has been the household brand for years but Ram has given GM a good run for their money. If in the future you're ever wanting to try out another truck I'd give Ram a crack! Air ride suspension, panoramic sun roof on most models from Rebel to Limited, e-torque, ecodiesel, etc. So many options! Not to mention the multi function tailgate and HUD display and rotating headlamps on some of the higher trim models!

My car history starts with 2001 f150 supercrew which was my favorite, 2011 LT Camaro so v6 also good. 2014 Ram Laramie 5.7 hemi which I drove up to 68k miles and had multiple problems(knob shift) and had to trade before it got more expensive to fix, 2018 ecoboost mustang which was just OK but just missed being in a truck so I got this. Only issue I’ve had was the leaf springs suck and had to get them replaced in less than a year. Yes, I use weight distro hitch. Other than that, it’s sick looking and I feel like a BOSS!!

That’s why you can’t go wrong with a Squarebody or a Cateye I have a 83 Shortbed C10 and my dad has a 06 1500HD 4X4 and the cateyes are so comfy we owned a 09 crew cab 6.2 LT before and sold it because he liked the interior on a cateye better.

Very fair review. I purchased the RAM Limited 19 because of the look inside. Its not very aggressive but was amazing. Things you don't think about are quality and fun factor. RAM quality is horrible when it comes to dashboard material which have de-laminated on multiple dodge vehicles (current wait time for replacement is 12 - 18 months) also the cabs leaking still in the 5th generation. The tech is advanced but after awhile you miss the simple stuff. In the end, I purchased a raptor fun the fun factor. The simple design of the F-150 and Chevy is over looked. I hated the small looking wheels on the chevy. AT 4 was a monster but just couldn't bet the fun factor of a raptor!

Square fenders force you to use smaller tires than you could with rounded fenders so that’s probably a reason they did that, due to customer request and wanting to create some more off road worthy packages from the factory

Please start making some Window Decals of your LoneStar Hawaiian Crest. I have been watching for awhile now, would like to fly your flag on the Rear Window of my 2019 LTZ. I have put some Clear Wrap on top of my Door Sill entrance areas and Front and Rear Door edges to help with scratches and dings. These areas scratch easily, this Clear Wrap disappears after install and protects my entryway and very inexpensive. I installed a Auto Stop Eliminator almost 9 months ago, works like a dream ($89.00). I did take an idea from GMC Sierra on a Grab Handle for the Bed of the truck, the mounting hole are the same between Manufacturers and mounted the Folding Grab Handle on the Drivers side of the bed to assist in climbing in the Bed, bought a brand new handle on Internet for $100.00, folds away when not in use. The interior is very nice and vehicle and is quiet. I am 6'0" tall and haven't any issues seeing my Gauges at all. Thanks.

Custom offsets did a video on what wheels would fit this truck. Because of the lip they made on the brake caliper, certain wheel designs won’t fit without spacers. So double check that also.

My 2020 LTZ comes with stock 33x10 tires on 20 inch rims. I hate the look with no fender liners. You shouldve optioned for them or told the dealer to include them. The ltz includes metal interior door handles. The seat positioning you chose is also incorrect. There is a proper posture position and with the power controls on the seat and memory feature you should adjust for yourself and wife. If adjusted correctly the visual angle to the cluster guage will be correct. You have also chosen a trail boss with the 2 convience level packages also the z71. This is basically a rst with the rough country lift kit. Yes chevy uses rough country:( . The sd card is for the optional $480 navigation upgrade. I personally prefer the 8 speed transmission with the 2 speed rear end. The 10 speed transmission is still not proven to me and if im not mistaken its a belt drive transmission. You also do not have afm you have dfm with the 17 pattern cylinger deactivation. AFM only goes down to 4 cylinder and is found on the lt base and wt trucks.

While I agree with you on a lot, I do think you were reaching on some points. As far as dodge and Ford smoking gm on interior, true, but... I’ll take the truck that rides like a car, will start and go when you want it too, and not brake down anytime. Also! A company called STILLEN makes an insert that goes up by the grill to direct airflow into the intake(so it doesn’t have to compete with the radiator and cooling fan for air). I have one in my 2019 Silverado and it’s a perfect complement to a CAI.

Love the trucks hate the cheap finishes I have a 2010 gmc Nevada edition and the doors always squeak makes me think twice about wanting to purchase a new truck. Looking at the 2021 elevation and apparently there the same quality squeaky cheaply finishes. :( who wants to spend 70k on a new truck that sounds like it’s falling apart. I drive with my cousin to work and he drives a Ford lariat and it sounds great nice finishes no squeaky noises! Been a gmc guy for ever just wish gm would not cheap out on things. Maybe I should hold on the the old gal and wait to see what 2022. I hear there might be a new interior style coming out.

I mean ZERO offense... but I greatly dislike the new front end. I have a 2017 (SCA Apex edition), more traditional Silverado front end. Yes its boxy, but so is everything else, that it what sets Silverado apart from the other two big guys. Its the look I love. That said, the mods (big and small) you have done really make that beast a beauty. I just cant get past that new look on the front.
