Got this last week. 6ft2, 240lbs, 44 inch chest, lean, and XL is great fit. I’ve had several compliments on it, the colour and texture of this are eye catching for sure. It is very soft and feels good to wear. Happy with the purchase and this is definitely the colour to get or else classic black
I bought the hoodless half zip one a few years ago and the zip always got caught at the start of the neck. On inspection there was some slight tearing of the material that holds the zip. I never did anything about it but its always quite annoying. Otherwise an amazing top and I still love it.
I’ve been very close to purchasing the R1 Air but have been put off by reports by some owners that it got a bit shredded by backpack straps. I’m still searching for a similar, highly durable option.
I haven’t had that experience so far but have only used it with a pack a couple of times now. That is interesting feedback so thanks for mentioning it here. Has anyone else out there in the comments had issues with backpack straps deteriorating the R1 Air polyester material?
The Microdini fleece hoody is going to be a heavier weight material and comes in at 13.7 grams. The R1 is lightweight breathable and more of a technical fleece for high output activities. The Microdini would be great for around town and every day use whereas the R1 Air would be better suited for the mountains. Hope that helps!
@@JohnLaGuardia ah thanks! I have the microdini and it’s interesting you say it’s a heavier weight material as it’s pretty thin as is, meaning the R1 is even thinner, which is what I was curious about. Thanks for the info!
Here’s some info for ya’: The R1® Air Full-Zip Hoody is a lightweight, breathable and quick-drying technical fleece for high-exertion activities in cold conditions. The fabric is made of 100% recycled polyester and is structured for comfort during movement. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. Glad you love it! Thanks for sharing your experience here. ✌️
Thanks for the great review John. I too think that Zippers are a good indication of overall quality
Appreciate the confirmation, Patrick. It makes a world of difference for sure!

I could not decide between M and L,do you believe would it be disadvantageous for cold weathers if I choose L, looser fit?
Yes. From a warmth and functionality perspective, I would go with a tighter fit. 😀

My R1 Hoody is in great shape after some hiking
also use the arcteryx delta Hybrid hoody wich is similar for me its even better than the r1
For me, the big advantage to the Patagonia over the Arc’Teryx is the recycled polyester material.
You need to try a paramo hoodie my friend... You'll be impressed....
I will check them out and see if they will send me some samples for review
Hey! Curious, how does the Patagonia Microdini Fleece Hoody compare to the R1?

What do you have in the second “blu” pocket ?
Not sure what you mean or how that question is helpful for others here. Feel free to clarify. Thanks.
You’re awesome! Thanks John!!
You made my day. Thank you!
That’s an R1 Air, not an R1. I have both and much prefer the Air. So, good choice.
Yep. You are correct. Thanks for making that distinction. 👍
Patagonia calls this color 'Nouveau Green'. Am I color blind or is this clearly a shade of gray?
You are correct on the color name. It does have a hint of green tint to it in person. It can also look grey in certain light temperatures above 5000k.
@@JohnLaGuardiaThank you for that info and your quick response!
