- I am rebuilding a Puch ZA50 moped engine. Do dont need too many special tools but I do recomend a hand impact driver. I like this one since it has long bits - amzn.to/45uoRAF .

This was the video I needed a few months ago! Also my guess is 14 Gloves.
I got lucky taking my rollers out, but when I reinstalled them they shot all over my garage so I got to do that extra reassembly too.
That torch + blind hole bearing puller for the old outer races is the JAM!
Also A+ Ken Roff shoutout at 4:20.
haha, yeah I didnt realize I could just take them out before I took off that nut. Also shout out to Ken Roff.
Here for the Roffrences
There's a loop in the video at 7:00 & 7:20. None of the other commenters point this out.
Thanks for the content.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I didn't notice when I was making it somehow. TH-cam doesn't let you replace videos. It's really annoying.
Interesting little engine! I came here to try and understand how does it work but honestly I didn't comprehend it. Amazing disassembly and good video!!!
I have this exact bike and I been restoring it for some time now but know I finally can have an exact reference
That's awesome! How far along are you
Haven't even started the engine I have it completely disassembled I had to de rust the tank then epoxy it. Now I'm almost don't with the body work I sanded everything down and going to repaint
Just replaced my pucks a few months ago with success. Yes I had my rollers drop out as well. My stock crank is good and I am running it on a mild kit with a 20 and 37 gearing set up with flipped 2nd clutch. I will eventually rebuild the case, so I have enjoyed watching this.
Thats awesome! What pucks did you end up using? I will be flipping 2nd gear as well. Are you running any clutch springs?
Atomic pucks red ones. No on the springs it is a mild kit. shifts around 22 23 mph unless I bump it, running 0-20 synthetic oil shifts better than type f.@@Corn-ped
rad! I gotta replace my puchs as well.
Do you know around about how much oil it holds ? Or know of a puch technician manual floating around link me if so @philschaller7474
Thank you for all the great content CornPed! Love the channel and 8 gloves
haha. I used way more than that!
I've been waiting for this video!!!
Yeah! Me too!
great video. also shoutout to mr crank. the moped community is lucky to have both of you.
Yeah! I cant wait to get this thing back together! Hopefully the assembly video turns out!
@@Corn-ped is there any detailed video of exactly what he does ? and the purpose of boring the case is that to be able to use the normal roller bearings are the OEM puch dual bearings deal still available for replacement? i have a puch maxi sport ls i got as a freebie in a trade on some dirtbikes. doing a top end + pipe to start crank is nice and tight no play BUT pretty sure the bearing on the crank on the flywheel side is leaking being there was transmission oil leaking out the flywheel cover so i def need to replace likely both seals any links on where to find a complete bearing kit for za50? all i can seem to find for a complete bearing and seal kit is for the E50
I have never taken this type of Puch engine apart before. Interesting to watch.
Its sweet! But a lot more complicated.
Great video. Just did this myself about a month ago.
Awesome! How did it go? Did you use two part crank bearings or roller bearings?
@@Corn-ped It went well (I got it running two days ago). I am a cheap collage student, so I reused the old bearings (they looked pretty good) .
Should be fine. Youll know soon enough!
Awesome vid! Can't wait for the assembly vid! I took mine apart to replace pucks and am uncertain how to get it back together proper😅
Coming soon! I just gotta send the cases off for welding and boring!

I saw you replied to my thread about the ZA50 bearing conversion! Looking forward to seeing how it goes with the new bearings that were discovered. Nice video!
yeah man! That thread is what got me excited to even do a ZA. Did you still have to shim the crank?
Drill out some of the pegs in that board so you can use it to store different length bolts in the order amd orientation they came out of the part.
Yeah that would be great. But I have too many projects going on at once to have the space. Ill just watch the video backwards.
@Corn-ped fair lol. I just have my one hoopty. One day ill find all the parts that are missing off it and itll be nice and i can start a new project.
I used to work at a Puch Moped shop in the late 70's in LA, California. I owned one and rode it thousands of miles on the streets of LA. I have a chance to get a Puch Maxi za50 but I'm wondering if I'll be able to still buy parts for it - what do ya think sir?
Yes you can. Mopedarmy.com for used parts. Treatland.tv for new parts.
Wish I had a ZA50 on my Puch - 2-speed is awesome. I think you changed gloves 15 times?
OOOO 15! Getting closer!
What do you use in your parts washer? I feel somewhat confident it was 8 pairs of gloves... plus the yellow one you wore over top for a few frames.
I use this stuff! It is so good! Hands down my favorite. My harbor freight parts washer says dont use it with this pump. But I have been using it for 5 years and have never had a problem.

49 gloves
Good first choice
Your doctor needs to start ordering some thicker gloves what year are they living in?
no kidding. I am going to switch to a better DR.
Hi, can I find out more information about the battery for your electric bike?
its a 72V 36AH 200A continuious/300a peak battery using an Ant bms and uses 21700 Cells
25
I collect used hi torque cylinders! Mj only needed 1 glove
what are you doing with all those heads?
@@Corn-ped I build bike's
Is part 2 coming out soon?
Yes! I m waiting for my my buddy to machine my cases for a Gila.
this looks like a lot of work :(
also: 69 gloves
its usually an even number.
Can I buy ya a coffee for a longer 24?!
for sure! Lets GO!
My guess is 23 gloves + the 69 you add after you're done with this rebuild vid
lol. It was a lot!
