      Avocados are very high in fat. I feel like that's why it works so well in this soap. It blends right in with the other oils that get saponified.

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I’ve made soaps with raw egg yolks, milk, cream and food powder (almond pudding powder etc), as long as the oils that used to make the soap don’t go rancid, they last quite a long time. Like a year or two in a dark, dry and cool place. There’re different kinds of oils that could be used for soap. Soaps containing high % of grape seed oil, canola oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil do go rancid very quickly and animal fats like lard and tallow, jojoba oil, olive oil and macadamia nut oil lasts a long time.
      If the oil is saponified all most all of it without much super fat, the soap do last ages, like 2-3 years or more made with those long lasting oils (heat tolerant oils) and 6 months instead of 3-4 months with those short life oils.
      Using essential oils also prolong the shelf life of the soaps too, just as they do for oils.
      So it’s mostly oils and not really the optional additives actually.

      Not a great idea, the juice is too acid; makes the soap mushy.

That’s a censored translation, since my grandma used to say it with more... colorful words. She also used to throw pee to the kids that used to smoke weed under her balcony. She was an interesting lady, to say the least.
    Edit: the day of her funeral, the same weed smoking kids that she would throw the pee at gathered one last time under my grandma’s balcony, and cried together, saying how they would miss “that old crazy hag”.

    I love the idea of using avocado since it’s so nourishing. But I’m allergic to avocado topically and Internally. So I’d have to avoid.

    You can use dried herbs like rose petal and chamomile the same way as the green tea, if you want your speckles to be in different colors. So many herbs, actually. I love these more natural soaps you do, the simplicity is always so gorgeous! (But I Love all your soaps soooo).

    This soap is gorgeous!!! I love the way the tea looks in the bottom layer, and the smoothness of the avocado layer.

    This might be a "stupid" question but wouldn't it be easier to add avocado oil instead of mushing the avocados? or is that done with the purpose of getting the color as well? no hate, just curious :3

    • @7slaper
      @7slaper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes it would! 😁 No chance of mold either.
      The purpose of this soap was to use fresh fruit though.
      Almost all botanical colours fade away (cucumber peel e.g.) or turn brown. You need to add a mica or an oxide to get a green soap that stays green over time.

    Can I just say.. I stumbled across your channel and have been binge watching all your videos. I've never made soap before but have always had a curiosity and interested in learning. You make it so interesting and educational and I live it! And however small it may seem, the perfect timing for your "commercial break" just as the ad rolls, is actually refreshing for some reason. I dont feel like it was interrupted so much lol like ok she let us know it was coming and she will be right back. Seems so much better than a mid sentence cut off by an ad. Gah I just rambled on about the tiniest little thing but I just had to say I noticed and didnt know how much I appreciate that u til now hahah

    I'm feeling inspired to make a similar soap! I have some expired looseleaf green tea and green tea fragrance oil. I can throw in some fresh avocado and maybe swap avocado oil for almond oil. Well that's my project for tonight!
    Update: Okay, it took 3 days, but I did it! Modified Katie's recipe to include 15% avocado oil!
