Your excellent video is very timely. I just ordered my Holosun 507K for my Sig P365 XL. Question: When one is sighting-in their Holosun 507K at what distance does the process begin?
I believe it comes already zeroed for 25 yards so I’d start with that and move closer or further. I adjusted the wrong direction when zeroing and it took me 300 rounds to get it back to zero. Overall it’s an amazing optic for the size.

I tried to use the same kind of hex set you show in the video, a well as the one they include with the 365, but the dame screws are so tight the heads are striping out and they have not budged. I wish they would use something less prone to fail... but I guess that's asking to much for my $600.
I’ve heard that from a couple people. If it has any locktite on there heating it with a hair dryer will loosen it. I can’t remember if mine had it on there or not because I didn’t have that issue when I tried to take them out
If you have a soldering iron you can heat the screws by putting the tip of the soldering iron directly on each screw to break the bond of the loctite, that way you're not having to heat the entire slide and you're putting the heat exactly where it needs to be.
@@scottamy6496 good tip, but heat from a blow dryer won’t hurt anything in that slide and if it does, I’d rather find it that way than when I’m using it.

@@Matrim42 hope you don't mind my asking but what is the difference between the 407 vs 507? Thanks for any help. Getting ready to buy one and trying to make my mind up.
@@donniegombel370 The big difference is that the 407 has a 6 MOA dot while the 507 has a 2 MOA dot and a 32 MOA ring that can be used in tandem or individually. Otherwise they are the exact same. I prefer the 6 MOA dot for pistols, and the 407 is less expensive, so it was a no brainer for me. Some people really like having a ring reticle, so if that’s your thing it might be worth the extra $80 or so.

Went to Optics Planet to order the Holosun but said it was discontinued by the manufacturer. Do you know if there was a change in model or another red dot other than the plastic Romeo optic?
Do you have to sacrifice having backup irons when running this sight? I know the Romeo Zero is an inferior optic but if it allows for cowitness and this one doesn't that's a tough choice for me for a carry gun
Mine weren’t that tight. I did take them off once before to see how the Romeo Zero looked so maybe they were a little easier, but either way they were never that tight. Do yours have Loctite? If so heat it and it’ll be easier.
If you’re not looking to carry and don’t have to worry about concealing it something like a p320, Glock 19, or M&P sized handgun would be great because they’re a little easier to shoot. If you’re looking to carry it the Glock 43/43x, P365/365xl, M&P Shield. If the gym is a little bigger it helps to minimize recoil, but 9mm doesn’t have a lot of recoil either way. There’s so many good options for handguns and you can’t go wrong with a 364.
@@mike34744 I concur! As a brand new shooter, I made the mistake of trying to learn with a subcompact and really struggled. If shooting with iron sights, a 5" is going to be easier to to align than a 4" and the sights themselves can make a difference for some people. For example if you are cross eye dominant, you may prefer blacked out rears and a fiber optic or bright front as opposed to a white three dot. Most of my gains were made shooting a full sized m&p, and then once I started learning the fundamentals I was able to train to shoot a smaller (Shield 9mm and Glock 42 mainly) frame proficiently
@@justinofboulder i am fairly new (started around march/april) and I am having such a hard time with the G42, but am pretty good with the full size m&p and even the G48.. cant figure out what I'm doing wrong any tips? :(
@@edxlee hand size could be a factor? The G42 is fairly small (I have small hands so I can adapt). Also I use a pierce grip extension to enable my middle two fingers to grip the frame and I focus on a firm squeeze and a stiff wrist. That is probably the largest factor for new shooters (firing small handguns), keeping their wrist stuff while gently pulling the trigger. The other issues some have is overriding the slide lock and pinching their palm on reloads. There really isn't a perfect gun out there and everything is a compromise with CCW. Rarely can one shoot a smaller handgun better than a larger one, but most people don't want to carry a full sized pistol around all day.
You do think the holosun 507c would look good in the p365 xl? Or it would look to big for the gun? I’m going to put the 507k on it but it’s just a question…
What size Allan wrench did you use the one I got with the gun doesn't fit and I've tried some other ones but I feel like they stripped the screws I can't get mine outside
No it’s not from what I understand but never tried. You’ll want something like the Holosun 507C but even with that you might need an adapter plate. I have a 507c on one of my p320s but I don’t think it’s a direct fit on the M18. Only the pro cut slides. The Delta point pro and Sig Romeo Pro are direct fits though.
It’s not compatible, but who knows if someone makes something to make it fit. I have the 507C on my Glock 45 MOS and honestly I think it’ll be too big even if you were able to attach it.

I have both & the Holosun is way better. If you want to save money, get the 407k. That's the one I usually buy, because I don't care about the circle around the dot.
I took the plate off prior to test it, but they were never too tight by any means. Others have told me theirs were very tight too. Have your shot your XL yet? The heat loosens the Loctite from what I hear. Or use a blow dryer and it might help.

I really like the holosun and want to get this sight for my 365xl.... but is it worth the price tag?
If you’re going to get a red dot then my opinion this is the one to get. For my 100% worth it.
Very helpful video....thanks!
Thank you I appreciate it.
Just came across this video. I saw the armory's hat on your table and was curious if you were in central Florida area.... I go to the one in Oviedo
😂 yes I go to the Kissimmee location.
Nice video, easy to follow for step by step. 👍 What other pistols do you have that you use red dots with? Thanks.
Currently I have a Holosun on 507C on my Glock 45.
how do you go about zeroing the sight? thanks for the video btw.
Read the Manuel it came with or download it online. Basically a couple left or right clicks for wind age or elevation to zero it in. I’m horrible at Zeroing in and it took me a lot longer than it should’ve because I tried to do too many clicks the wrong way without reading the manual.
I can’t remember if mine had it on there or not because I didn’t have that issue when I tried to take them out
If the screws end up stripping, you can send it in to Sig and they'll remove the plate for free including free shipping.
@@benwalker6795 Yep I had to send it back to Sig!
That is awesome. I just bought this sight for my P365X. Did you have to zero in the sight?
I had to zero it slightly , but for the most part it was on target from the start.
@@mike34744 Awesome Thank You!
Did you use a plate? Or can you get away with not having a plate like you did?
It’s a direct fit you do not need a plate to mount it.
So are mounting plates not required to hold a zero? About to mount this on a Canik METE SFX
I’m not sure with the Canik, but on the P365 no mounting plate needed.
There is no need for an adapter plate, right?
No it fits perfectly.
@@mike34744 Thanks.
Which allen wrench size did you use?
Honestly I can’t remember what size it was.
Where did you order your optic from? I'm still waiting on mine I ordered from Optics Planet :(
I got mine from The Armories in central Florida.
@@mike34744 Opticsplanet keeps jerking me around. They've pushed the shipping date back four times already.
Hopefully they get more inventory soon. It sucks waiting.
Waiting on mine from Optics planet as well.... they aren't always the quickest, but I have ordered a ton from them and they have always been great on warranty and returns.
Optics Planet said 2-3 week backorder when I ordered it, now at 8 weeks and no sign of it, not even an update. Crickets from Optics Planet.... But think it'll be worth the wait.
Hi. No locktite on the new screws needed?
I didn’t need Loctite, but it might not hurt.
We’re did you order your 507K from?
The Armories Kissimmee. Google them. They still might have some in stock
Just to let folks know I used a H2.0 bit to remove the sight plate. I believe this is the same as a 2mm hexagon bit. If anybody knows please confirm. I used my Wheeler precision micro set.
When you switched to the 2 moa dot did it turn green? In the video the dot looked green.
No it is only red.
I think you were seeing the green front sight.
It definitely looked green there on my screen for some reason (and it was the dot not the front sight...but yes i know its only red
Thank you sir, this is exactly what I needed! Side note; does anyone know if it messes with the zero or damages the optic if you rack the slide by pushing back on the front of the red dot sight?
It hasn’t messed with mine, but I would imagine at some point you might have to re-zero it in.
I’ve got the 407K on my 365XL. I don’t make a habit of it, but I’ve done it now and again and it’s been fine so far. Most reviews I’ve seen say it’s been pretty stable. The 507K is every bit as sturdy.
I wouldn’t do it with something like the RomeoZero that’s made of polymer though. Holosuns are way more rugged.
@@Matrim42 thank you very much my friend. That's perfect. 507 for my son's .45 gift I'm putting together. Hope the best for you and your loved ones in these trying times.
Does the 365XL come with the mounting plates that work for the Holosun?
You don’t need a mounting plate.
what tool do i need to take off the plate on the XL?
Just a regular Allen wrench. I can’t remember the exact size.
The Armories? Huh I was just looking at their site to go buy this gun.
Buy it!
Went to Optics Planet to order the Holosun but said it was discontinued by the manufacturer. Do you know if there was a change in model or another red dot other than the plastic Romeo optic?
Yes they changed it because of a lawsuit I believe. I believe the new model is the 507k X2
@@mike34744 Thanks so much. That's going to be a good fit for the XL.
@ The perfect fit
How tight was the bolts when you first removed the plate did they have loctite
For me it wasn’t too bad. I’ve had a couple people commenting that it was really right for them.
Do you have to sacrifice having backup irons when running this sight? I know the Romeo Zero is an inferior optic but if it allows for cowitness and this one doesn't that's a tough choice for me for a carry gun
The Holosun has back up iron sights built into the optic
You lose the rear sight no matter what optic you put on the XL, but it dosen't matter because the optics have a rear sight cut into it.
Having trouble finding a holster for this combination. Need suggestions. Thank you.
Tier1 concealed 👍
I went with Vedder Holster and love them.
How did you get the screws off so easy
Mine weren’t that tight. I did take them off once before to see how the Romeo Zero looked so maybe they were a little easier, but either way they were never that tight. Do yours have Loctite? If so heat it and it’ll be easier.
Supermike I dunno I can’t get them off n I tried heating them up but now there stripped. So I don’t know what to do
Supermike I feel fucked I tried heating it up but now there really stripped
That’s horrible
I have been on the edge if I should get the sig p365 but want to know what the best gun for a beginner would be to start learning with?
J 100%
Rarely can one shoot a smaller handgun better than a larger one, but most people don't want to carry a full sized pistol around all day.
if i tun a red dot can i israel regular sight too in case something happens to the red dot i have another option ?
Yes there is a rear sight built into the 507k optic. You can use it as a back up just in case the red dot goes out.
Did you use a allen head bit or a star bit?
I used an Allen wrench to remove the plate and the Holosun tool with the star bit to install the red dot.
You do think the holosun 507c would look good in the p365 xl? Or it would look to big for the gun? I’m going to put the 507k on it but it’s just a question…
Way too big in my opinion. I have the 507C on my other full-size guns, for the 365XL I would definitely stick with the 507K/407k
@@mike34744 ok yes.thank you so much!!!
The 507c won't even fit.
It's a different footprint.
These will only fit K Series Holosuns.
@@pewpewTN thank you bro
@@JustplayingGames17 No problem man.
Hope you find the optic you're looking for.
Does this fit on p320?
As far as I’m aware not unless someone makes an adapter plate.
What size Allan wrench did you use the one I got with the gun doesn't fit and I've tried some other ones but I feel like they stripped the screws I can't get mine outside
Honestly I can’t remember what size.
@@mike34744 I got them out..... thanks though
This video was helpful
Is it a direct-install with the M-18?
No it’s not from what I understand but never tried. You’ll want something like the Holosun 507C but even with that you might need an adapter plate. I have a 507c on one of my p320s but I don’t think it’s a direct fit on the M18. Only the pro cut slides. The Delta point pro and Sig Romeo Pro are direct fits though.
@@mike34744 thanks!!
Thanks for the review
Thanks for watching 👍
Will this fit the canid elite tp9 sc?
I don’t believe it will without an adapter plate. Not 100% sure though.
Yes it will
Was box sealed?
It was new in the box. I can’t remember how it was sealed.
Any chance you would know if the holosun 507c v2 is compatible with the 365xl??
It’s not compatible, but who knows if someone makes something to make it fit. I have the 507C on my Glock 45 MOS and honestly I think it’ll be too big even if you were able to attach it.
Supermike awesome thanks! I went ahead and ordered the 507k instead of the 507c.
I wish I'd gotten a Holosun I don't really like the Romeo Zero.
I didn’t like the zero either.
Can u still use the sights with this optic?
No you have to remove the rear sights, but the optic has rear sights built in.
Gah where are these sights????? I’ve been waiting since shot show. Optics planet screwed me too many times so I’m waiting on Kenzie’s optics now. They say they’ll ship the beginning of August 🤷♂️
I heard they’re behind because of being produced in China and Covid slowed production. I don’t know if you gosh but even certain fishing poles are hard to find because everything comes from China nowadays.
they're getting updated to HS507K-X2. Probably due to the lawsuit. Looks like they're changing the button arrangements
ph00ny1 interesting, honestly the buttons seem just fine to me🤷♂️
@@williamthompson9262 Trijicon has the patent on buttons that go up on to the hood portion of red dots...so they sued holosun, holosun is having to change the button layout, But i guess they can still sell whats been made cause i just got one of these through Amazon (Botach was who sold and shipped it)
Ryan Peck yeah I’ve had two of the 507ks for a couple months now. I’m glad I did because they are fantastic. The bottoms work flawlessly and I like the layout I wonder how it will change after the lawsuit?
Mmmmm....I ordered mine from a very well regarded company. I am # 302, and they got 65 in. Bang my Head against the wall. So I emailed them and they are supposed to bet the balance in by the end of July here. I'm not holding my breath on that. I figure Sept. at the earliest.....Grrrrrrrumbling here !!!
Hopefully it ends up being the end of this month. I hate waiting for things too. It’s worth the wait from what I’ve experienced so far.
similar experience - showed in-stock but the day after I ordered from Optics Planet I got the "order update: backordered 24-33 days" email. Ugh.
how did it end up shooting?
Shot great. I went to the range to film it, but forgot my tripod and didn’t get any footage. Once I got it zeroed it was dead on.
Supermike great to hear, thanks for the update.
Get yourself an inch pound torque driver, them screws need to be at 15 inch pounds for a perfect zero
I’m going to order one today. Thankfully it’s held zero pretty good, but time will tell.
I’m undecided on the Romeo zero and this optic. For pricing and look I think I might go with Romeo zero, since i don’t like the engraved logo but I’ve heard from comments that the Romeo zero the lenses is plastic and cuts easily while this one is glass. Anyone have both or any recommendations?
507k is superior imo...
I’ve had both and Love the 507k. I didn’t like the Romeo Zero. Also I love having more reticle options with Holosun
I have both & the Holosun is way better.
If you want to save money, get the 407k.
That's the one I usually buy, because I don't care about the circle around the dot.
He says: "Hold this down?"
I ask: What is "this"?
the guy who said the sight hangs over more on one side prob had his slide milled incorrectly.
Thanks!
Man, my factory set screws are WAY tighter than what yours seemed to be. Did you preloosen them prior to this video?
I took the plate off prior to test it, but they were never too tight by any means. Others have told me theirs were very tight too. Have your shot your XL yet? The heat loosens the Loctite from what I hear. Or use a blow dryer and it might help.
@@mike34744 thanks for advice, I've only put a couple hundred through it. I did just pick up a screwdriver style allen set thay will hopefully give me the leverage I need. Also will probably try a couple shots of some wd40 I suppose.
Edit: actually, trying right after shooting is a really good idea... Not sure if it gets very hot under the plate but definitely worth a shot
so this is only for the new p365xl.. I have the first gen P365 and there's no screw underneath my slide..
The 365 XL is cut for this. If you have the original you’ll have to have your slide cut to put a red dot on it.
Now they have a P365 slide with the cutout on the Sig site
