The same as dutch speaking Belgains. First English is a course a school, second our movies are subtiteld and not dubbed. So it’s partly auto didact

In the 60s and 70s learning 3 foreign languages was mandatory. That meant 6 years of French and 4 years of English and German. At the end of the secondary school your final exam was having read 3 books in each of the languages and be able to answer questions about them in a fluent conversation with 2 examinators. If you flunked one of the languages you didn't pass the exam and had to repeat a year for everything, not only the languages. Of course we often went on vacation to other countries so we had a lot of oportunities to practice. All that has changed and not many Dutch can speak German or French anymore.

The Dutch speak all kinds of languages, but look down their noses on their own, including the regional languages.

I miss the relation between English, Dutch, Frisian and German language... it are sibling languages! with different influences but all originating from Old English, I understood. There are sentences that are completely identical in all 4 languages. The mixup is between notation and pronunciation that give difficulties. The word "warm" means the same in all 4 languages but is pronounced different. Other words are written different but are pronounced almost identical and have the same meaning.

????? Old english is a old germanic dialect just like old dutch. Scotish is also included the frisians and scots had a shared alphabet that was a extended version of fhurtak. That is a indo germanic language. Its all related. Even hindi is related. Latinizatiin drive it apart because the north held off the romans and devloped futher. Russian alphabet is most like futhark the alihabet we use is romanized.

Bijna alle zeevarende volkeren en kustbewoners spreken goed Engels, komt bij dat Engelse taal afkomsrig is van de Friese taal.

My English is pretty much perfect!
Better than most of the people in this video.
How I learned to speak perfect English?
    I'm a gamer!
And most games don't have the Dutch language option.
So there was no other option then to learn English.😂
And I also game online a lot.
So I had thousands of hours of practice.
Eventually it all clicks and I lost my Dutch English accent.
And with movies I watch them without subs during the day and with English subs during the evening and night.
Because I want the subs to be spot on and you don't get that with Dutch subtitles.
95% of all my activities are in English... American English.

The Germans had terrible voice over for movies but the kids 'program with the mouse' was great 😄

@@picobyteThey dubbed it, not a voice over. A voice over is like a narrator that tells what happens on screen
