    WWF In Your House 14 "Revenge of the Taker" took place on April 20th 1997. Originally the event would include a Sycho Sid vs Bret Hart match but when Sid pulled out, Stone Cold Steve Austin was added as a replacement. In Your House 14 then features the third Bret Hart vs Steve Austin WWF pay per view match only this time, Bret Hart works as a full-blown heel.
    The Undertaker defends his WWF Championship on this PPV against Mankind, one of the Phenom's most formidable opponents. The Tag Team Championship Belts are also on the line when The Legion of Doom battle Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith, and Rocky Maivia defends the Intercontinental Championship against Savio Vega. The Honky Tonk Man's protege also gets revealed at this show, and the big reveal is met with silence.
    Every match from In Your House 14: Revenge of the Taker gets covered in this upload.

    I love every Foley / Undertaker storyline. They were just meant to battle each other. Taker was the (nearly) unstoppable force, until Mankind showed up and you could feel some sense of danger for the Undertaker for the first time.
    Finally someone who just wont stop, who could take all the beatings and JUST WONT STOP. Who throws all the blood, the tools, the fire, the broken glass at Taker. And only stops when he is an unconscious bloody pulp with a broken tooth sticking out of his nose,. aka their HIAT match.

  • @VulpiusFox
    @VulpiusFox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    An extremely 1997 PPV. You got some really good stuff with the Hart Foundation (including cheeky Brian Pillman), Austin being a badass as usual and an important step on the long road to Kane's debut. But then you also got pre-nation Rock, Flash Funk and Rockabilly.

    • @lutherheggs451

      And atleast it was before the smarks cried every single time Austin "buried" someone on his rise. Unlike now where it doesn't matter who it is, the smarks instantly start crying about "burying" people the instant they lose.

  • @GeoGuy388

    The Taker/Mankind match here is ridiculously underrated. I think it's my favorite non HiaC encounter between the two of these guys, just beating out the Boiler Room Brawl. Just a completely wild brawl with so many great high spots and tons of physicality.
    The Bret/Austin match is pretty good too, but it's (somewhat rightly) overshadowed by their previous encounters. I think the matched served its purpose pretty well, though, which was to keep fans interested in their rivalry and set up Austin's ultimate vengeance in a big payoff. It's such a shame we never got that payoff.

    Lots of good memories watching this show and still to this day, one of my favourite In Your House show which featured an excellent first world title defense for The Undertaker against Mankind, Bret Hart Vs Steve Austin was good but their Wrestlemania match was much better but I understand it was hard to top that.

    If it wasn't for Bret I don't know if Austin would have had the amazing career he went on to have.
    In a time where most of the big time superstars in the WWF did not want to Help out a Up and Comer like Austin, Bret did.
    Then bret pretty much demanded to put Steve over by doing the double heel turn and having him pass out in the sharpshooter And refusing to tap which gave Austin his reputation. And then he gave Austin a clean title win over him later on so in my opinion he helped make stone cold and he did so very unselfishly.

    • @dowhatiwantc7637
      @dowhatiwantc7637 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bret also helped with the rock as they wanted him to take the IC title as apparently Shawn Michaels didn’t like both of them and wanted kill two birds with one stone. Bret with IC title out of main event and wwf champ contention. Also removing the rock from any momentum he was building.

    Austin and Bret’s encounter was yup underrated as well, and enjoyed that too..
    man 1997 to early 2001, for me those where some of the best years in wrestling, and I relive it anytime I choose to.
    Thanks Bios as always man for these great uploads.

    Love the constant content. Its great to remember where I was in life each time you release a new video, brings up memories otherwise forgotten. Keep the videos coming, between you and what culture, I'm back into wrestling considering I haven't watched any wrestling since the pg era started. Much thanks

    Lol I love this channel and watch every week when I have down time at work. I literally laughed so hard at the commentary of Davey Boy clapping during Hawk's chin lock on Owen... Well done sir :-) Keep up the good work!

    WWF in 1997 was one of the best & most fun years to watch!! I could seriously watch Stone Cold vs Bret Hart/Hart Foundation feud over & over and never get sick of seeing it. 1998 & 1999 were good too, but 1997 was the start of one of the best Era's in wrestling!!!

    WOW!! This was the first live Wrestling event I ever saw, and my home-made banner made the PPV Pre-Show! (I have it somewhere on VHS but I dont think it made the digital replay edition on WWE Network)
    So pumped you did this one!

    Taker vs Mankind should have main evented, PPVs don’t feel right when the world title match is in the mid card IMO

    Awesome episode 💯 ... I enjoyed this PPV I remember renting this from the video store a few times back in 1997 lol the best matches on the card of course were Taker Vs Mankind & Austin Vs Bret it's fun to look back at these shows during this time just to see how the WWF was getting closer into the Attitude Era
