    I just want to add in the spirit of just making things I did not use a ND filter or any extra stuff. Most of this is just a Lumix S9, Auto ISO, Color Profiles or LUTs and a cracked shutter to expose.
    Enjoy :)

    Great video, its a compelling camera. While it has limitations, I'd love something to throw in a bag, traveling light on my motorcycle, and this could be it. Cant afford one at the moment, unless I traded my S5ii for one and not sure on that. Hope the LUT updates come to the older S5ii cameras too, you got some great looks in camera! The 14-40mm too is looking like a fab travel lens! Just hope its nice and sharp!

      I do wish it had a mechanical but I’ve been using Synchro Scan on a quick button if lights did become a problem but they haven’t been this far. Any street photography that happens during the day will basically not even have this problem, nor pictures with a long shutter but I synchro scan if I must.

    I doubt the video processing is different of the S5II and S5IIX, the way how the sharpening and temporal noise reduction are applied just make the videos not natural. The image look like a burst of jpg files full of both sharpening and noise reduction. Can't wait to get better video processing on the future S1II, or at least internal BRAW or Proresraw because it seems Panasonic want to keep their bad L² processing to please smartphone users. The S1 and S1H don't need internal raw because the video quality is great, but the AF is most of the time inusable.

    When there is the S5 II this isn't much of an option for anyone buying this as a video camera and I went for the S5 IIx myself. For photographers it's a no no too because there is no hotshoe, no mechanical shutter and no option for an EVF. 10 years ago I used to shoot street on an Olympus E-PL3 MFT and the S9 camera would have been my dream camera if it had an EVF. I'll definitely look out for the S9 II when they (hopefully) fix all the shortcomings. My idea would be to slap some Leica M mount glass on there and that would be a really nice combo with small lenses. But then manual focusing without an EVF is a pain unless you shoot only stopped down.

    • @fatherofbirds
      @fatherofbirds  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This isn’t made for people looking to get into professional photography or video really.
      Though out door portraits or constant controlled light indoor portraits it can do easily.
      Professional video basically wouldn’t say go this either unless it was all short clips or in my case it’s easy to make this work for music videos.
      But if you want something small to run around with your friends or you are in the L mount and want a fractional piece of the S5II in your pocket this is a gem. 💎

      @@kuroexmachina Depends on the person, if you want a small camera in the L-Mount there really just weren’t many options. Now there is this and the sigma FP which are two totally different strengths and weaknesses.
      There aren’t many Full frame small cameras at this price point straight up it’s a valid option depending on your situation.

      The camera that outed the industry resulting in consumers unsubscribing from YT channels and never trusting another reviewer again. They just proved the infrastructure is good ole boy network pimping cameras and patting each other on the back. Its a paid sponsorship video via Japan trip. Over priced piece of gear in an opulent society of ticky takers...

    Canon R8 exists, why would anyone get this instead.
    Also 26mm manual F8 lens???? Really? You can get R8 and autofocus 28mm 2.8 pancake for about the same price as this.
    Even if someone wants that "Lumix" look, there are so many other options at market.
    Also camera body is ergonomically challenged.
    No offense, review is great, but the product itself... yuck

    • @fatherofbirds
      @fatherofbirds  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not for everyone but once again if you want 90% of a S5II in your pocket this is a pretty good choice. I’ve actually been wanting this and it’s gonna take the role my S5 has been doing now, as I said in the video if you need more head room because your going for professional clients than the S5II is a better choice and honestly so is the S5 if you don’t need perfect video autofocus and the S5 would be cheaper.
      Full Frame
      Open gate 6k 10bit
      Best stabilization in the game
      4K 48p and 60p 10bit DCI and UHD options
      While it has its cons if you’re comparing it to rest of what’s out there it also has some pros that those don’t and when you compare it to other full frames at its price it’s a lot cheaper.

  • @klarion

    all great, but that's what I call a sponsored infomercial... these companies used to pay hundreds of thousands of $$ to make these to sell their gear... now they just throw in a trip and free gear.. sad times.. sad times..

      I said what I don't like about the camera in this video.
      Also, Lumix always asks us for what we don't like about the cameras and invites the critisim.
      I don't feel obligated to say anything nice.
      I legit enjoy this camera from the shooting exsperience aside from the things I mentioned in the video.
      Most of the angry people you see are people judging this by a spec sheet and not a shooting exsperience of this niche camera.
      It's not for everyone and I'm not paid or encouraged to say anything nice about it.

  • @kuroexmachina

    this camera is so crippled and expensive. this is definitely not the best street camera by a long shot (L mount or not). hyperzoom and LUTs are gimmicks. 15mins recording max? do you hear yourself. no mechanical shutter means lot of banding over 1/1000s. 50 megabits video default looks horrible. for the price, why not just use your phone at this point? oh and i almost forgot, Panasonic is known to be very picky about who reviews their stuff and only choose those that would not absolutely destroy it with transparency. this video is just too rosy for my taste. sorry bud.

    • @PPLRRN
      @PPLRRN 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why dont you show us a camera that is:
      - smaller
      - Full frame or higher
      - 24 mp or more
      - cheaper
      - better IBIS
      - LUTs built in
      - hybrid zoom
      - 6k open gate
      And I dont mean 1 of each, it should have all these checked or better. No dumb answers please.

    • @slows728
      @slows728 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PPLRRN The IBIS is good yes, it is excellent for a full rame camera, much better than Sony, but the video IQ is not good.
      The S9 suffers from the same engine of the S5 II. Very bad resolution in 4K and insane detail filtering, the level of these processing is different between every profiles, but even V-log looks not good. Sure, you can use Open gate mode to get slightly better details (but still not as good as the old GEN), but try to walk with the camera with at 35mm or 50mm with this mode, Open gate has much worse IBIS than 4K, so even the advantage of the resolution has a drawback.
      These reviews never speaks about these issues, because since the S5II, most reviewers are just here to make promotional videos.
      I find very surprising we never get any image quality (fine details) comparison between the S5 II/S9 and the old GEN S1 or S5, also we never get a comparison of IBIS between Open Gate, 6K and 4K. Ah yes I found a video of Richard Wong about this for the G9II, but to make the statement that the IBIS is the same between Open Gate and 4K, he only used a 8mm lens ... Owning most of these cameras, I can say the test is really biased.

    • @PPLRRN
      @PPLRRN 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @slows728 this is how I felt about Sony when they started sending reviewers to trips. I think since the 6400 launch. But judging from the videos I've seen, even from S5 and S5ii, I prefer Panasonic's than Sony's. And I also see a lot of S5ii and x users, even S1H users preordering the S9. So that says a lot.
