Thanks for explaining what this camera’s usp is, I’m a long time LUMIX user, but missed the point of this, you’ve explained the LUTs aspect perfectly. It’s a definite no for me without an evf for all the reasons you give, but I can now see its appeal. It’s very lovely in blue too! Loved your little fan club at the start, so sweet 😍

Yeah, it’ll be a tough option for a lot of people, but I actually don’t doubt that the majority of the target audience won’t even care that it doesn’t have an EVF to be honest 😅
I don’t mind the missing EVF since we can just use an external one, but seeing how it has a cold shoe and the ports are on the right side of the camera, i don’t think that’ll happen lol.
Yeah the ports on the right are a shame, plus it’s that horrible micro-HDMI so it’s definitely gonna get knocked out easily 😔 Best option is an analogue viewfinder, but may not be that great still
Great video! Looks like a really nice camera. I liked how you didn't get too technical and focused on real world use. Shame about the lack of EVF. I had the same feelings about Panasonic. Good cameras but they lack a bit of magic and heart that fujifilm has, due to the colour science mainly. The usability and interface is great. And I liked the LUT stuff on the S5ii but, ironically the UX for it was poor. This looks a big step up in their focus on LUTS and seems a smart move.

Yeah it’s a bit of a head scratcher camera! Yes, cool :) But the lack of a viewfinder and no rear thumb dial… I dunno… It could have been the ultimate street photography camera! Especially with those Luts… It just seems to be missing the essentials! Anyway, Great Review and Fabulous Photos Joe :)
Cheers! The buttons on the back are also a spinny dial as well as a directional selector, but yeah there’s no dial at the top on the back. That didn’t actually bother me as much as I thought given the ergonomics of how I gripped it.

I was kind of disappointed that it was a cold shoe and the banding in ES is kind of bad. I see this as a great challenger to ZV-E1 and I think this creates great value now. But at the same time for a couple hundred more I would just go with the S5II or X. I think the next generation of the S9 is going to be super crazy amazing after they get feedback from users.
No viewfinder is an immediate non-starter. I’m shortsighted in that I need glasses to read but my distance vision is good. With DSLRs and EVF mirrorless they all have a viewfinder adjustment so I can see the info on the viewfinder screen. But I can’t clearly read the rear screen. So I’m reliant on a viewfinder.
Yeah the diopters in EVFs are extremely useful. For me, I just love an EVF for the distraction-free focus it gives me when composing images. Glad it's not been a trend to remove them entirely off of most cameras

Yeah Fujifilm missed this opportunity. They should have made an X-App with recipies and a community years ago. They started it. But no, all they do is make a useless filmdial on the X-T50.
Kudos to panasonic for trying and giving us the s9 (open gate, LUTS, full frame) but for a 2024 camera i think there are more cons than pros. They should have hired enthusiasts to better make a better camera. Rolling shutter, no viewfinder, poor lens and more.

KaiZen is dead in Fuji. they don't even add new film simulations to their lower tier cameras.
They should make the camera screen bigger. It would appeal more to cellphone camera users and yould also be great for the on camera editing
