China's Night Markets Have a BIG PROBLEM! (Too Much Food in Fuzhou)

- I went to Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, for one night to find some of the most unique Fujian cuisine I could get my hands on!
Even though I only had one night, lucky for me Fuzhou is one of China's many gourmet cities. So, I hit the first night market I could find and I was not disappointed. There was so much on offer, the main problem was it was too hard to choose what to buy. Don't worry though, I managed to find some amazing dishes that I've never seen outside of Fuzhou, including one that almost blew my head off (figuratively, not literally).

My childhood memory of Fuzhou goes back to the early 70's. There were a lot of farmlands, we ate the coorporate big wok rice, usually came with fried cabbage and a clear soup with tiny clams. Once in a while we might find some glutinous rice cake 云片糕, and was already a big deal. I don't remember any of the traditional food shown here. Maybe we were just too poor to eat out back then. Very happy and proud to see the advancement over the years. One of these days I will go back to visit.

That first jelly dessert you had, I haven't had it or seen it for ages around here. Seeing you eat it gave me back the taste I forgot. I can really feel the taste.
It's a very subtle taste though. Eating 马蹄糕 is more about the texture than the taste I always think.

I've lived in Fuzhou for 2,5 years (not there anymore), but i believe I haven't been to that night market. I don't even know where is it located. Great video, btw.

Do visit Xian, Hangzhou , Xinjiang and Beijing. I was in Xinjiang 4 years ago for 16 days, beautiful province especially northern part.

Oh, my goodness. I can't believe this. I mean all the Chinese takeout restaurants in America are owned by Fujianese, but they all give up their own good food when they come to America. Why can't they cook the night market food, like what is presented here, in America? It will be so much better.
