    • @lyzgeorge
      @lyzgeorge 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@BlondieinChina actually another reason is that my hometown is a very ancient city for thousands of years. When they dig underground they found a lot of ancient ruins under many stations, which they had to halt and call experts for help, months later to resume building the subway.

    • @peteregan3862
      @peteregan3862 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@lyzgeorge That makes sense. The shallower to the surface, the more useful a rail line. In Roma, Italia it takes forever to build a metro line for this reason. The build quick option is to build deep, but at stations a slow excavation is needed to recover historical artefacts - Fuzhou must have preserved much history by taking the time to do archaeology.

You may try some other Fuzhou foods, like rouyan(fuzhou wonton ), dingbianhu(rice patter), xianmianhu, which are all famous for their fresh and delicious soup with seafood and shrimp sauce . Fuzhouers were the earliest immigrants to SE Asia, and in NY city, there are tens of thousand Fuzhouers now.😃

I think the "thousand-year Chrismas tree" is the big Ficus microcarpa(榕树) in the Forest Park~ Fuzhou is famous for this kind of tree, and it's even called 榕城(the city of Ficus microcarpa). This paticular one in the Forest Park is more than one thousand years old, and it's so big that it looks like a hill. Don't miss it when you go to Fuzhou next time!

    Great timing for this video, I'm heading to Fuzhou in a few weeks time and I thought it was a shame you didn't have a video about it because there wasn't much to find on TH-cam - looking forward to watching this video 😁

    Sweet and sour. My favourite Fuzhou dishes. And the most I miss. Fish ball Potato ball sticky rice ball. And those nice things I miss from my hometown.

    By the way, even if you have proxy and you use Google Maps in mainland China, the info it provides isn't up-to-date. Apple Maps works well in mainland China, it uses Amap(高德地图)'s data.

    Thanks for this video. Some of the images made me so nastelgic. I was born in Fuzhou and came to Australia when I was 7 but don't recall the local food being spicy. I think it might be an effect of inter-provincial cultural exchange. In Melbourne you can buy the meat filled fishballs in Chinese supermarkets and these are made by a family friend! Also my extended family lives close to that bridge 6:58!

    1:06 Oh! my house is opposite. I should be playing EU4 at home
    8:00 This street is called Zhongting street. It's the commercial center of old Fuzhou, so there are many buildings of 20th century style. But now it's not as prosperous as before, but the street is still very busy

    When he said Fuzhou food being spicy...
    Just a little thing: if you're a foreigner, people don't really care about your table manners (they'll be impressed enough that you can actually use chopsticks ), so it's okay for you guys as long as you can have fun. However, if you want to deeply join the Chinese community, better to know it's a bit rude to point things with chopsticks like that.
