    The polk 7 was actually a mistake. The passive radiator (aka fluid coupled subwoofer) was too heavy for the active driver. The Monitor 5 has a downsized PR and a great balance. They were a killer set of speakers, especially for the money. These speakers did 95% of what high end speakers did for a fraction of the cost. They really did compete with Kef and Vandersteen audio type sound.
    I got rid of my more costly speakers because the new reference series polk are better engineered for a fraction of the cost. Transparent, neutral but warm and very detailed. The ring radiator tweeter is world class.
