A brilliant song by George! The younger generation is losing contact with the Beatles. They should allow more reviews. The crosswalk is on a street called Abbey Road, it's right near their EMI recording studio.

Although it is true that in the end George was John's and Paul's equal as a composer, he wasn't always . He even stated he wasn't and learned. His classic album, All Things Must Pass, should have had its debut (most of the songs) on Abbey Road. George turned out to be an all time composer.
@@TangoEliott Yeah, that's the usual story. Nobody talks about how accepting the rest of the band were (and whatever recording company suits had to sign off on it) in agreeing to have George's east Indian ragas on the albums. Interesting as they were, they weren't exactly commercial. Also, remember some of George's limited song quota was wasted on rather throwaway songs like 'Only a Northern Song'. Filler like that doesn't really argue for giving him more album slots. Also, was anything preventing George from recording a solo album before the Beatles dissolved? the beatles were rare in many ways including the fact that all 4 members were allowed to sing on each album. The album photo was taken on Abbey Road, in front of what was then known as EMI Studios, where The Beatles recorded virtually all their music, and since renamed Abbey Road Studios. It remains ax extremely popular and legendary recording facility. The zebra crossing itself was moved a few yards or so from its original location. I walked across it in the summer of 1981. 😊
Such a beautiful song. The mainstream really jumped on this one, the melody being so accessible to a myriad of artists. Booker T. & the M.G.'s, George Benson, Nina Simone, Richie Havens all took their shot at "Here Comes the Sun", also Jon Bon Jovi, and Cherie Currie after leaving The Runaways.

George had ducked out of England and away from the Beatles, to a friend's house in sunny California. Sitting outside on the deck, early one morning, it felt so good that the song just came out.
You can pull up the Abbey Road street-cam and see it live. Any time of the day you can see someone trying to recreate the cover. You might have to wait 5 minutes at the most.
From my first introduction to The Beatles, by my brother with the let It be album, George was always my favorite Beatle. As I grew up I grew to appreciate John's intelligence and lyric writing as well as Paul 's beautiful voice and lyrics. But still, George is the most spiritual and enlightened of The Beatles. And he proved his talent on his own after their breakup.
Abbey Road was their last real album. It was a must have in my senior year. Much of their stuff up to that point had been dark and ominous and cynical, at least some of John's songs. The Beatles realized that they were enormously influential and needed to record something that was upbeat and hopeful. Leave it to George. HCTS had that effect and it still does with me all these years later
The Beatles originally intended to name the LP 'Everest' and planned to have a photoshoot in front of Mount Everest for the album cover. Apparently, they were not too keen on traveling such a distance and eventually ran short on time. I believe it was Ringo who said, 'Screw it, let's just take a picture out front and call the album Abbey Road'. Fun fact: the studio was known simply as 'EMI Studios' during the entire recording career of The Beatles. In 1976, the name of the studio was changed in recognition of the album.
Living in the PNW, any and all songs about sun were enjoyed with much rejoicing. Our winters are filled with an abundance of rain, seemingly unending. Add The Beatles to the mix makes it all the sweeter. I somehow missed this reaction after your jam packed Saturday reactions, and was surprised by the fan appreciation at the end. Please know that the appreciation starts with you, and the time you devote to us. Blessings Shawn and all.
It's still called Abbey Road, like the name of the album. The zebra crossing is just up the road from the Abbey Road studios where most Beatles albums were recorded. It's a Mecca for Beatles fans. This is a great album, but might I suggest you react to tracks from Revolver which is top notch and starts with a song from George.
I watched an interview of Ringo where he explained that George was very proud of the rhythmic structure he had written into this song. Ringo admitted that he didn't really understand what George told him...he just knew how to play it, and pounded out on his knee the beat to demonstrate how HE counted it. And as you said here, Ringo played really well! He is a very natural drummer.
It still amazes me to think that in 1968, this song didn't exist. It's the same with all Beatles songs - they're so big a part of modern culture that the simple idea that there was a time when no-one had heard them seems impossible. This and "Something" are two George Harrison classics from this album. The street is still called Abbey Road (hence the album title), and the crossing is right outside the recording studio where the Beatles' albums were made - and it's a major attraction in London. For Ringo at his finest, try the Beatles song "Rain".
Ironically George is the only Beatle I have never seen live in concert, nor shall I sadly. I did get to see the Plastic Ono Band, McCartney several times and Ringo with his All Star Touring Band will all be memories I cherish
I saw George in Seattle in 1974 with Billy Preston and Ravi Shankar, Paul about four times, and Ringo about five times. Never ever saw John though. Lucky you. 😢

The name of the road is Abbey Road. A few meters away was a crowd of people, the police stopped the traffic and the technical staff for this shooting session. They crossed in diferent positions and choose this version. The Volkswagen on the picture got its license plate stolen so many times until had to sold the car 😊 take care ✌
Famous album cover with a hidden message this was back in the day when the rumor was out that Paul McCartney had died and they replaced him with a look alike if you notice John is dressed like a Minister Ringo is dressed like an undertaker and Paul is barefooted and holding the cigarette and his right Hand but everyone knows Paul is left-handed so he is barefooted and looks more like a corpse so one would assume his lookalike is right handed George is dressed like a grave digger and if you read the license plate on the Yellow VW it’s “28 if” Which would’ve been Paul’s age and the “if”is as if he were still alive the Beatles really loved playing with this rumor with hidden messages in their songs about Paul’s death they really had some fun with it
Around this time the Beatles were playing with us, saying Paul was dead(esp. in their lyrics). This photo shows a procession, John in front, dressed as a minister, next is Ringo, dressed as a mortician, then Paul, dressed as the deceased, with George last, dressed as a gravedigger. At least that's what I've heard
The entire Abbey Road album is a masterpiece from start to finish. This beautiful, optimistic song from the genius of George Harrison is a wonderful gem. Great reaction. 🌺✌️
I’m on the fence as to which Beatles album is their best work, is it Abbey Road or the White Album? No matter which 1 it is their volume's of music speaks for itself. Another Great Weekend of music Thanks to our host Shawn.
There's a great music video for this song that the band released just a few years back. I would heartily encourage you to check it out. It would be cool to see you do it on this channel, but if you can't, certainly do it for yourself. 😊
We don't know the why of why Paul is not wearing shoes. But the hot rumor that circulated back then and still does, says that it signifies that Paul is dead. You may or may not know that there is a rumor that Paul died and was replaced with someone who very closely resembled him. Conspiracy theory stuff. So that's how the conspiracists decided that Paul's bare feet meant signified his death. I can't remember which song it is, maybe revolution? Where the conspiracists say that if you play it backwards you will hear "Paul is dead." Your channel is one of my favorite music reaction channels. Thank you so much!
Shawn, awesome reaction. Suggest:...."Photograph" by Ringo Starr...."Blow away" by George Harrison....."#9 dream" by John Lennon......"Wanderlust" by Paul McCartney
Shawn, you should watch the movie Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. It is based on the music from the album and stars some of rocks greats who perform the albums songs (it's a musical). Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Billy Preston, Alice Cooper, Tina Turner, and Aerosmith all perform in it. George Burns, Steve Martin, Keith Carradine, Lied Garret, Connie Stevens, Wolfman Jack, Helen Reddy, Carol Channing, Peter Noone, Nona Hendrix, Steven Bishop, Peter Allen all make appearances.
Never knew of how it was made, so thank you thank you. I will, henceforth, think of George playing hookey from the aboriginal Apple corps. Your shows are poetry. And by that I refer to Horace, who around the time of Jesus, said that a good poet should delight or inform, and better yet both. The music and reaction delights, and the commentary informs. Poetry in music in motion.
Watch their film Magical Mystery Tour. It's deeply influenced by drugs. John sort of mispronounced George like "Geolge" in a funny scene. The film includes Strawberry Fields, I Am The Walrus and other goodies 🪄🧙♂️🔮
The man on the right his name is. Paul Cole, who died in 2008. He was on vacation in London with his wife. He was from Florida. The people on the other side are Derek. Seagrove, Steve millwood and Alan Flanagan they were on their lunch break. The blue car that they're standing next to is now owned by ventriloquist Jeff Dunham who bought it from the original owners family and restored it.
That's good knowledge. I was going to say the guy was an American tourist but you've got his name and address! The white Volkswagen Beetle (famously part of the "Paul Is Dead" conspiracy theory because of what the number plate is supposed to signify) is now in the VW museum in Wolfsburg, Germany, I believe.
Great photo art on its own merits, but many think it's the Beatles poking fun at the rumor/conspiracy theory that Paul McCartney died and was replaced by a look-alike. It can be looked at as a funeral procession with John, a clergyman/spiritual leader in white, Ringo in black as a funeral director, barefoot Paul as the corpse, and George in work clothes as the grave digger. Also the license plate on the VW bug in the background is 28if - the age he'd be if he had just died.
One of the few songs where I don't recommend the video. It has great visuals, but it uses the 2019 remix. That remix sounds a little too produced to me, especially at the bridge and after. I think the mix use here is from 2009, when sounds great!
don't be fooled. this song is actually about hate, destruction and greed disguised as a happy song about hope. just kidding. i prefer this song to george's over-hyped other contribution to "abbey road" "something." "something" is ok. its not a horrible song but "here comes the sun" just exudes joy and positivism. an excellent way to start off side 2 of the album. thanks for the video.
That Zebra crossing is now a big tourist attraction in London where fans are constantly going to recreate the Beatles iconic cover.

Hard to believe you hadn't heard this before. Better late than never as they say.
Shawn, awesome reaction. Suggest:...."Photograph" by Ringo Starr...."Blow away" by George Harrison....."#9 dream" by John Lennon......"Wanderlust" by Paul McCartney
❤❤❤
Thanks for the kind words! Hope you are doing well, friend!
@@ShawnSalvadori Very well, thank you kindly.
ABBEY ROAD!!! 😊OPENING SONG ( COME TOGETHER ) FYYYYYRRRRRR SHAWN! 👍
Ringo and John were 28. Paul had just turned 27
NO, IT'S ABBEY ROAD! LOL 😊
I love this song by the Beatles, but I think the best version of this song is by Richie Havens; it’s perfection.
A band where Harrison is the 3rd most talented shouldn't be possible. I don't like people who don't like the Beatles.
We need a ‘man’ counter.
😬 my bad haha
It is terrible the way the Beatles estate or record companies block. Self-defeating, and cheats their fans.
So wait, you never heard of Abbey Road?
Too much talking
