Until you have been on the inside of it and been terrified to within an inch of your life, I think the use of the word "sheeple" is ill considered and downright insulting. Most of the people having to endure this system have a real need to return to the UK and cannot afford to rock the boat. I am disabled, I was stuck in HMP Leonardo, Heathrow, in unsafe conditions and they had the power to keep detaining me, should a lateral flow test show a false positive (which they have a habit of doing). When you are threatened with detainment, denied external medical care and threatened with large fines and prison time, you tend to do as you are told. I had to fight and fight to get early release to isolate at home where I could look after myself properly. They eventually allowed me to leave on the eighth day after my health had deteriorated. I haven't been anywhere in the world as frightening as what I experienced on my arrival back in the UK, and no, I wasn't travelling for a holiday, I was returning to be with my dying father. Had I been detained further, I would not have escaped until it was too late. It is also very difficult to "storm the Bastille" from a wheelchair! Situations can get out of hand very quickly, as I know from my experience at HMP Leonardo a couple of months earlier. There are a great deal of armed police around Heathrow and the intimidation of UK citizens is very real. It's very easy to bandy words like "sheeple" from the comfort of your own home and keyboard. I hope you are never subjected to this kind of treatment, but if you are, please tell us all the story of how you "fought the system"! The rubbish food, lack of cleaning facilities, denial of basic human rights, health care and dignity is not something we have both enjoyed paying £1750 each for, only to benefit some faceless quango and profit those "in the know".

Hey AB, I’m a Uk resident living in Dubai. I need to come home to see my family and friends but the horror stories I’ve heard and read about, concerning these quarantine hotels has put me right off. Thank you for doing this vlog, I think an 11 night stay in an amber or green country is more preferable to this incarceration. As usual it’s being run by stupid people. I despair.

Hi AB, I watched this one with interest particularly as I am in a quarantine hotel myself at the moment. It is a very surreal experience and it does have the feeling of being a prison inmate. I was doing some consulting work in a red list country and when I travelled out there in April, I knew that there was a possibility that I would do this upon return. I consider to be an occupational "hazard". I have only been in for a couple of days and I have to say the security and hotel folks have been great. I have not met the security manager yet but if he (or she - it could a lady) spoke to me, any of my fellow guest or the security staff in such manner, I don't think I would be a polite as you were.

I have not met the security manager yet but if he (or she - it could a lady) spoke to me, any of my fellow guest or the security staff in such manner, I don't think I would be a polite as you were.
