Really enjoyed this one. Dare I say slightly better than your regular shift pattern. This shift seemed more varied & unpredictable. Go on, you know you want to do another morning shift 😉
Used to work on the buses for years starting @ 0330 in the morning . Absolute killer setting the alarm for 0230 and eating a bowl of coco pops at 0230 after a shower.
You are an individual with great knowledge of London, patient, polite & excellent human being. You really impressed all viewers by waiving fare for lady you dropped off at hospital. Keep up good work & GOD bless TOM.
This is one of the best videos tom. Shows the importance of the KOL. So many circumstances that can knock time off a journey. Currently 1-0 up on 56s myself. Looking forward to joining you guys.
Thanks Tom Do more Tom as it’s nice to do different shifts as u meet different types of customer and go slightly different places You may meet someone and get a tv show out of it
Following the blue taxi made me laugh. I followed a colleague up the A3 to T5 this morning, we met planes landing after each other, and dropped the passengers off a few miles apart.
Haha yesss Tom - How about that last job to Heathrow T5, what an absolute beauty! You really deserved that for giving the nice lady a free ride to St Thomas's Hospital. Your shift videos are my fave. Superb, thanks for sharing with us.
Great vid Tom always good to see a shift video was interesting to see you bite the bullet and take your nemesis on, for me I still prefer the shift one but your other formats are great too appreciate all the time and effort you put in I can just imagine you shouting f*ck off at your alarm clock that morning lol
Great video Tom, it only takes a couple of train arrivals to absorb those mid morning lines of cabs at Padders. When you pulled off and didn't join I was saying stay there.😄👍
I love the energy, passion and dedication you put into these videos. Recounting your whole day with accuracy is a great feat, but then again, taxi drivers have to memorise all streets in London
This was a lovely video Tom! Really liked the look of the morning shifts, seems to start by going to stations and from there just mooch around! Wouldnt mind seeing another like this ;)
Absolutely love these shift video's. I do appreciate your feelings making and editing them, But for my part I don't see them as repetitieve. Love to see Londen. A city I lived for 10 year. Thank you Sir for this one.
Love the video Tom. I’ve been a taxi driver for 15yrs in County Durham, and this is exactly how I feel when I’ve done the odd night/evening shift. Think I’ve done less than 10 in all these years, it really is a completely different job days vs nights
Really enjoyed this one Tom! The things you do for us viewers - I think I would've sworn at the alarm, hit snooze multiple times and gone back to sleep! :D
I worked as a pushbike messenger '12-'14 coming into town from Stratford each morning and I can honestly say the cyclists were a force to be reckoned with en masse. It was like travelling in a strange sort of herd of cattle that always got to the front at a red light
I used to do taxis and I always tried to work the early morning because there's not many cars on the road and you can do airport runs. Clearly different to London of course. In addition, I went by the belief for most of my time that short fares lead to long fares and many times this worked out beautifully. You would take a short job and then get something that makes your day. What was even better was a long job then another long job straight away.
Yes, short jobs are key. Often they take you to places where you get another job because of the lack of taxis. It is all luck and evens out in the end!
I'm retired now and mostly worked the day shift on Liverpool hackney cabs.My night vision was so bad the only way I knew I'd been flagged was when the cab behind slammed on!I've stopped at lamposts with flowers tied to them, temporary bus-stops and alsorts. So I stuck to working an 8 hour day shift, mostly taken up with contract work-schools,social services, hospitals etc.Never made a fortune but enough to keep a roof over me head.People said 'You'll be bored when you retire' Ha! I sit here in armchair enterprise boldly going wherever netflix takes me and love it.I think driving a cab puts years on you if your not careful,I always opted for the safety of permanent school runs that guaranteed I'd earn enough for the diesel and cab payments and then anything else went straight in me pocket.
Quite often did 2am starts in my provincial Town and it was astonishing the amount of work that came my way as obviously I'd be the only cab on the system out.
Last three times picked up from Kings Cross station, wanting to go to Back Hill. It was a blank look from all three, I mention Clerkenwell Rd and the light goes on. Just an unusual place?
Yea must admit, reading that I was thinking "Back Hill?" Having the area really helps. Remember when the cabbie is given an obscure road or street, they are mentally roller dexing through the whole of London, so to aim at a specific area really cuts the thinking down! 😊
Hey Tom. I've been a courier for the past 7yrs. How's about a vlog idea where we both race across London and see who's better. Me as a courier with a pretty good knowledge of London or a black cab who's actually studied the London roads.
Had a funny experience with Black cab at the weekend. Never used one for years and took 2 over the weekend. I was at the Madness concert on Friday night at theO2 and couldn't stomach the bun fight for the bus on a cold dreary night. Jumped into a cab on the rank and was soon heading home. Driver was chatty and i said how well do you know Eltham? I know the high street was his reply. Great head there as we are just off the high street. As we were almost home i thought Id drop a bit of Tom lingo in. As you approach this roundabout "comply straight over" set of eyes peered at me in the mirror. I'm a fan of Taxi Tom on You tube was my reply laughing. He was also a subscriber and the last few hundred yards we were chatting on the vids.
Hi. You know those diesel black cabs. They have very nice and different horn. I quite like it and not sure what you call it. If it’s even possible to buy online or store and install it.
Early mornings, the EASIEST shift in the cab if you get right direction jobs, gotta be on apps/radio/phone,come in before 6am gone before 2pm,great shift in summer.
I’ve tried all shifts and evening/nights are so easy and stress free (if you avoid the weekend drunks)..all dependent on you sleeping pattern and home life.
I've watched a million of your videos and I love it. Thank you Tom. I've got to say, the weirdest thing for me as an American about your streets is how they change names even though they're the same thing. I guess it has to do with history of the place. But it's just so strange in my mind to go through a light without a turn signal and be on a different road.
ah..at 11;22 you pass Millbank. sheer history here mate. used to be an old prison there where prisoners were lead to ships on the river to be transported to Australia. thus Prisoners of Millbank or P.O.M. for short is the term still used by Australians today for English peoples ....POMS
Just found your channel and we love it! Coming into town for the first time next week - what is a reasonable cost assumption to get from the Savoy to Heathrow on a Saturday afternoon?
Great Video! Some of you might find this interesting, as a day time cabbie i did 50 trips to Heathrow last year, mostly from stations, some from streets and a very few from the app.
I used to work the early shift, it’s the worst. Once the morning rush has gone at around 10 am is ranking up. I done 15 years of midday to midnight, you could earn way more but kills the family’s.
Took a couple from Padders to the Clayton out past Chiswick business park. They’d taken the hex from T3. So £40 plus the train fares. No, I didn’t get it either 🤷♂️😂
great video, what are the app you use???? you should make a video about the best apps for taxi in London, also are you signing up to the uber app??? I heard uber will have black cabs from 2024.... thanks
Hi Tom,your skin is looking really good,as a psoriasis sufferer I know how it can affect you….are you taking meds or just a different skin routine??Great vid as always 👍
In your opinion - which intersection do you think trips up drivers (non-cabbies) the most? I go round Hammersmith regularly and there's always some poor soul cutting back on to the gyratory having got the lanes mixed up!
I feel like these logs would be far more interesting if you included the fare (or an approximate fare) for each job - eg that would give a lot more context to the situations where you get one job in an hour
In our case: You are solid if you start at 5am and start near hotels. There are enough pre-bookings to start. Alternatively: If you are also a designated driver on a school run, you are at least good for the first few hours.

Really enjoyed this one. Dare I say slightly better than your regular shift pattern. This shift seemed more varied & unpredictable. Go on, you know you want to do another morning shift 😉
Nice to give the Lady the freebee, cheer Pal!
Really enjoyed the video and the drive around London in the daylight. Nice one for giving the lady a free ride to the hospital.
Very kind of you to offer the lady with crutches a free cab over the bridge
Used to work on the buses for years starting @ 0330 in the morning . Absolute killer setting the alarm for 0230 and eating a bowl of coco pops at 0230 after a shower.
You are an individual with great knowledge of London, patient, polite & excellent human being. You really impressed all viewers by waiving fare for lady you dropped off at hospital. Keep up good work & GOD bless TOM.
yeah finally a normal shift video
Stop your moaning. If you want constant shift videos go do the knowledge and make them yourself
It’s not a normal taxi shift and certainly not the most rewarding
Lol u are mistaken
U call a naked man normal?
This is one of the best videos tom. Shows the importance of the KOL. So many circumstances that can knock time off a journey. Currently 1-0 up on 56s myself. Looking forward to joining you guys.
Be lucky 🍀 ✊🏻
Thanks Tom
Do more Tom as it’s nice to do different shifts as u meet different types of customer and go slightly different places

Great guy letting the lady off her fare!
Really enjoy your shift videos, mate. Can imagine they're a pain to make but keep them coming!
I love near the end of this video "Cabby Carma" I believe in this! Safe Driving!
Great vid Tom always good to see a shift video was interesting to see you bite the bullet and take your nemesis on, for me I still prefer the shift one but your other formats are great too appreciate all the time and effort you put in
I can just imagine you shouting f*ck off at your alarm clock that morning lol
Very nearly binned the idea of a the video because of the alarm clock haha!
@@TomtheTaxiDriver lol I bet!
Great video Tom, it only takes a couple of train arrivals to absorb those mid morning lines of cabs at Padders. When you pulled off and didn't join I was saying stay there.😄👍
Thank you tom the taxi driver for another years worth of great videos ,love from Australia 🐨🦘🕷
Stumbled across this video randomly and was mesmerised all the way through, couldn't stop watching! Awesome!
I love the energy, passion and dedication you put into these videos. Recounting your whole day with accuracy is a great feat, but then again, taxi drivers have to memorise all streets in London

Love the video Tom.

Another tom the taxi driver upload. Can’t wait for this one. Keep up the good work!
Love the normal day in the life videos x
Really enjoyed this one Tom! The things you do for us viewers - I think I would've sworn at the alarm, hit snooze multiple times and gone back to sleep! :D
Back in the cab showing us a morning shift in central London, great, keep it up.
I worked as a pushbike messenger '12-'14 coming into town from Stratford each morning and I can honestly say the cyclists were a force to be reckoned with en masse. It was like travelling in a strange sort of herd of cattle that always got to the front at a red light
Great video and would be happy for more daytime shifts, or other unusual shifts :)

Love the insight and spots to visit, as always. Went To Camisa I Son based on your sandwich video. I now know why you recommended the place
It was Nice to see you around Smithfield market next to the hospital…happy you had a good shift that day

Merry Christmas, and thanks for all the excellent videos through the year! 🙂🍻🎅🎄
Quite often did 2am starts in my provincial Town and it was astonishing the amount of work that came my way as obviously I'd be the only cab on the system out.
Great to see a shift video again 🙂
What a thoroughly decent bloke you are. Keep up the good work, and Merry Christmas
That's really nice of you man, to give that freebie. I bet that made her day!
Great video Tom, looking forward to your shift videos over the festive season 👍
I was not expecting that Heathrow job at the end, I had to rewatch that part a few times over, nice surprise.
love that you gave a shout out to iccos pizza! Went there a lot when i lived nearby in uni halls last year
Enjoyed this, new sub from Australia 🇦🇺
Would love to see you work early morning at Heathrow
Me too!! haha
Good to see you back Shane. Clearly you have a bit more recovery required. Get well.
19:19 I miss the old lad who used to run that hut. Prices have crept up but still cheaper than anything on ken high st when I'm working that way.
Ljuba who runs it now is also fantastic
Nice finish
What a kind guy to the lady on crutches
Been enjoying your videos all along. Happy Christmas Tom, for you and yours!
Ah great shift video again Tom i really love those!
Thanks for this, I really enjoy these vids!!
Brilliant video merry Christmas to you and your family Tom hope you have a good one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I know Gower St. I often used to stay in a B&B there, when I was working in London
Last three times picked up from Kings Cross station, wanting to go to Back Hill. It was a blank look from all three, I mention Clerkenwell Rd and the light goes on. Just an unusual place?
Yea must admit, reading that I was thinking "Back Hill?" Having the area really helps.

Love your videos man. Currently on the kol, can’t wait to drive.
What amazing knowledge and passion all round nice person
10:08 you gotta go through the barriers to drop off someone doing it before the roundabout is ticketable
Nice video Tom. That Heathrow job really made it all.
Hey Tom! Loved the day video, was interesting new see a new perspective. What North Face jacket are you wearing?
T5 to end - what a touch!
Hey Tom. I've been a courier for the past 7yrs. How's about a vlog idea where we both race across London and see who's better. Me as a courier with a pretty good knowledge of London or a black cab who's actually studied the London roads.
Brah you have 1 subscriber and it’s yourself 😂😂😂
I know a good one, Old Bailey (central criminal court) to Knightsbridge. No streets or roads...
15:30 you get to go up and down on yourself while on the job? Nice.
Best vlog in a while
went to London this weekend from Bristol, could not how many cycle taxis there was. They seemed very unsafe and very annoying
Can you do a video on the different apps the you are on/use and what there are like
Same I haven't worked many morning shifts at all , I don't like waking up early
I have always done 4am - 2pm 👌
Had a funny experience with Black cab at the weekend. Never used one for years and took 2 over the weekend. A40 west cross is my preferred just because it’s so quick. Leave apps on anywhere around Norland square very high ping rate there
Hi. You know those diesel black cabs. They have very nice and different horn. I quite like it and not sure what you call it. If it’s even possible to buy online or store and install it.

17:12 you put a picture of Paddington there instead of the V&A, presume you didn’t mean to do that. Great video, as always.
Ooops! Well spotted!
St Thomas drop off is free for everyone.. can't remember how many minutes but you should be safe.
Just found your channel and we love it! Coming into town for the first time next week - what is a reasonable cost assumption to get from the Savoy to Heathrow on a Saturday afternoon?
Thanks Tom for the upload ....That's why we use "Be lucky " among cabbies .
Great Video! Some of you might find this interesting, as a day time cabbie i did 50 trips to Heathrow last year, mostly from stations, some from streets and a very few from the app.
Love the video! Great of you to give a freebie too!
The journey to St Thomas's - you most likely made that lady's day. Nice one Paul. 🙂

This video makes it seem like the best job in the world
Because it is 😜
ICCO Pizza shout-out let's go
The BT tower used to be called the post office tower my mum took me up to the restaurant when i was a boy before the ira bombing.
Took a couple from Padders to the Clayton out past Chiswick business park. They’d taken the hex from T3. So £40 plus the train fares. No, I didn’t get it either 🤷♂️😂
Cracking upload Tom.
Tom, i took that Nanny lady from park square east back there the other day with the two kids. 😀

So good, I watched it twice!😂
Cool music, Tom.

route heading to Edition Hotel you stated you missed Newman St, what would you have done had you drove Newman
Hi Tom, Was wondering what dash cam or camera you use to record the outside footage.
Brilliant video as usual with lots of “wiggles”
A very timely video based on my search for an early morning cab ride to the airport earlier today 🙂
In our case: You are solid if you start at 5am and start near hotels. There are enough pre-bookings to start. Alternatively: If you are also a designated driver on a school run, you are at least good for the first few hours.
what a win, T5!
6am is not early🤣
Railway you're up at 3am starting 4am , that's a fresh start trust me.
Thoughts on uber offering black cabs chance to join ?
