- Marceline, Missouri. The boyhood hometown of Walt Disney! Home to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum, and the actual street that inspired the original "Main Street USA" in Disneyland. This is it! The REAL Main Street may have technically been named "Kansas Avenue" when Walt was living in the town limits, but today it's known as the real "Main Street USA" all across the world!
Of course, Disneyland's Main Street is not a 1-to-1 replica of Marceline's Kansas Avenue, but it was inspired not only by Walt's childhood memories, but actually physically inspired as well, since Walt came here as early as 1946 to prepare for what would eventually become Disneyland.
So join me (Justin) and Tyler Evans as we walk all over Marceline in the blazing summer heat! Oh! And make sure you check out
www.waltdisneym... -where you can donate or buy merchandise to help the museum stay open, as well as find visitor information if you're inspired to visit!~
And if you like what you see you can always get a Randomland T-shirt at www.livefastdie...
I grew up in Marceline, graduated high school there and still have a place there today. It's sad to see that the theater is still in such poor shape. We had friends who worked there and we would go in and watch DVDs on the big screen on weeknights when the theater wasn't open in high school. Such a good time.
Interesting video as always. This one makes me think of the small things that happen growing up that have a huge impact on your life. I can't help but believe Walt's being invited to ride with Buffalo Bill was one of them.
Great stuff! I love that Walt was so inspired by Marceline as a boy that it stuck with him for life. I will definitely be walking down Main Street with a whole new level of appreciation when I head to the park this week. I grew up going to Disney World, but I'm a true Disneyland convert these days because Walt's presence is so strong there. Thanks as always for putting in all the hard work! So much fun to watch.
Great video guys. One more fun fact for you when Disneyland was being planned there was a replica of the gazebo like the one in EP Ripley park planned for town square but it was moved nearer the hub before the park opened as it blocked the view of sleeping beauty castle. When they were planning Euro Disneyland the imagineers put the gazebo back at town square as a homage both to Marceline and the original Disneyland and it's still there today.
Didn't know that about Euro Disney! Thanks!
This was fun to watch. I opened Conversations and ran it for it’s first year. The farm auctions in the old roller rink were a great time! Loved their parades; they were so short they’d go around the block and run it again! Cartoon fest was wonderful every year. 😍
Thank you so much for this video really enjoyed it!! As a major part of my childhood I first seen Walt on TV every Saturday nite in the late 50's and then of coarse all of his early movies like Lady & the Tramp at the drive-in theater with my parents and siblings. My favorite on TV was Zorro ! Great video thanks again .
I love your videos they always revamp my love of Walt and all things Disney. Thank you for being you and doing what you love and always remember to keep moving forward.
Watching this for a class on the life of Walt and how he affected America! Thank you for the video!
Justin, thank you for going to Marceline, MO to show us Walt's boyhood hometown and the inspiration for Disneyland's Main Street, USA! I learned a lot of new information on Walt and his family, sister Ruth, and about his elementary school. That was awesome to show the connection that you have to Walt and his elementary school! You did a fantastic job on this video. Can't wait to see more new Disneyland videos from you!
I love how you showed how Marceline looked compared to Disneyland.
Marceline is a cool town when it comes to Walt Disney. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Missouri.
There is now no doubt that you are the BEST Disney blogger on TH-cam. No one can touch you. Thanks for all of your hard work. It is much appreciated.
Great visual commentary on how Walt Disney was inspired to build Main Street USA. You answered many questions that usually are not discussed about what Marceline was like in Walt Disney's time as a child there.
Tyler's Hank Hill impression is on fleek
great edit! Thanks for sharing.
You did a great job producing this video! The transitions between Marceline's Main Street and Disneyland's Main Street were very smooth.
Great video fellows, it's funny how I'm such a big Disney fan and didn't realize how Walt was such a big fan of the Santa Fe railroad and I work here in Santa Fe at the New Mexican.
Terrific! Being a big disney history buff myself, your videos are great to watch. I'll be getting my randomland shirt real soon.
Awesome!! Thanks for watching!!
Marceline is a great town!! I actually lived there for 5 years and went to the elementary and middle school!! The Walt Disney barn is also an amazing place you should visit!! You can see the dreaming tree and everything that Disney did... Its really neat!!
I lived here my whole life
Once again, you've outdone yourself! Randomland has now become a household word in our home. We eagerly await every new video you post. I feel like I know Disneyland and "what makes it tick" so much better thanks to you. In fact, you feel like part of the family. Many, many thanks for all your hard work. We love you.
Wow great video...great tour for those of us who might never make it out ourselves...thank you and Tyler!!
I came back to this video just to see Tyler do his dance.
Just went there today!
I know this video is a few years old, but I just wanted to shout out that my mom grew up in Marceline and my Dad grew up in Brookefield, the town right next to it. So we were in Marceline a lot. And as you were showing the video I was like "Oh! That's the Fourth Of July Carnival" or "Hey, my Uncle works there!"
It's just so cool that my family is from the hometown of Walt Disney, and this year we'll be visiting back there for Toonfest! Can't wait!
Probably one of your best, good sir. Well done! Glad you had a good time!
Wow, lots of similarities. You've always got the cool facts and background info. Thanks Justin!
That's so neat his childhood impacted what he did so much! It reminds me a little bit of my hometown in Kansas...Keep up the great work!! I always look forward to seeing your videos!! And I'll definitely have to pick up a t-shirt! :) thanks for sharing!
Wow! I like your tour of Marceline! I was also born in Whittier in 1953 and sort of grew up with the knowledge of Walt Disney. Some day soon I hope I will be going to Marceline.
This was so good.
Thanks!
Walt wanted a Main Street inspired by his home town but Collin Campbell actually designed some of the buildings directly off of some he remembered growing up in Fort Collins Colorado I believe
I barely found your videos today and have already sat and watched every video they are great!
Great video. I really like how you faded in a on out from the original main street to the one at Disneyland. Great work

Awesome as always Justin!!!!! Thank you for the insight on Walt Disney's early childhood. I need to take a trip there sometime...and being from Anaheim my best friend went to WDE and she lived down the street from the school (clearbrook ln) remember walking over there and she told me of the original artwork in the cafeteria. Beats the heck for going to Riverdale Elm (now closed! :( in east Anaheim )
Fantastic video! and thank you for the heads up video about why no videos had been posted i personally appreciated that. scared me lol.
2:41 if you look closely, you can see under Tilly’s name is Marceline, Missouri
I wonder if Tilly was the ticketmaster when walt lived there.
Love love love! This is fantastic!
Mine was Whitefish, MT
thanks for posting
Gott love the king of the hill reference
Great video!
It was fun to see your Walt Disney school history connected to the town history!
Was your school the first thing that got you interested in Disneyland?
No, I grew up right behind going to Disneyland hotel and watching Fireworks from my grandparents' front yard every night as a kid, so I loved Disneyland before I went to the school, but it was pretty cool getting Mickey, Donald, & etc coming to visit for an assembly every Christmas
LiveFastDiePoor That would be cool to have Mickey and Donald visiting your school for Christmas, for sure!
Seeing the Disneyland fireworks show from in front of your grandparents house sounds very cool to me!
The Marceline series is awesome! I hope that when you go back there the movie theater will be ready so you can go inside and look around, I really wanna see what's inside. I also love your Disneyland videos, I love Disney history and your videos are enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing this wonderful history! I would love to see you do videos in Disney World in Florida. Mind if I share your video on Facebook?
Justin..this has to be the best vid about Walt Disney on utube. Awesome job! I cant wait to see more! #Randomlandfanforlife
AWESOME!
On one of the next Randomlands, you should try to figure out how to recreate the water smell from Pirates of the Caribbean!
Very well done as usual!
Thanks Vito! :D
Tyler definitely has an awkward walk. Haha! Love you guys!
Ouch! But, thanks for the love all the same. :)
TylerRockJournalist haha no hard feelings Tyler... love all the videos and both of you guys are awesome

You're so awesome man. I love all your videos!
Another wonderful video.
Good job on the video! Love your zany antics too.
Thank you!!! Thanks for watching it!
It took me a viewing of one of your videos to realize your zany actions often show a huge love of Walt Disney! You must have a big heart of love for him!
You really got to do a video about Retlaw 1 (the original Disneyland train) I think that would be great!
I live less than two hours from Marceline, but I've never been. I must go soon!
You should! Definitely worth 2 hours. :)
Definitly. Walt is such an inspiration coming from a small town. Walt Disney has taught me that just because you are from a small town, doesn't mean you can't have a huge impact on the world
Great Video man!! :) keep up the great work... Hope i bump into you when i next go to Disneyland
:D
About time you uploaded.
Scares everyone when you fall off the face of the earth.
Haha it took awhile to sort through all the footage!

Thank you!
This was AWESOME dude
Wow, thanks Bryan! Appreciate it!
I'll totally get a randomland t-shirt
Went there just yesterday 11/29/2020. It was pretty interesting. I hope the Uptown Theatre gets the donations it needs to be refurbished
Hey Randomland, I just wanted u to know that u can get into the lily belle IF u go in the morning, ask a cast member if the car is running, and ask nicely if u can ride around in it. I just wanted u to know that cause I rly want to see an episode on it
Ahhhh I live in Missouri I think there should be a Disney world in Missouri 😂❤️
Me too. I actually live 10 minutes away from marceline
Great Video Friend! Wish You Could Of Been My History Teacher In High School,
Come To Disneyland On The 27th So I Can Meet Ya!! :D
Wow. I was there almost 15 years ago and I can say, not a whole lot has changed. At all. Good times. I'll have to find the picture of myself in that gazebo...
That's awesome! I love little towns like that. US-36 is dotted with them - amazing enclaves of lost America!
I hope you take another field trip the Walt Disney museum in San Francisco. It's the only Disney museum (outside of the ones that have been in the Anaheim parks) that I've been to since I'm less than an hour's drive south of SF. And for the sake of another Randomland video, stepping away from Disney momentarily, is the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose over here in my neck of the woods.
I love here
You sound like such a cool person to be around! :D
Thank you for making these videos, they are the best! ^~^
Thank YOU so much for watching them!
I bought walt's old toilet. It's really shitty but is packed with murky memories. You could truly smell the history.
If I ever get to Mar- HA! I live 10 minutes away from it.
I love your videos!! I will sit and watch them over and over. I live in utah and I only go once a year :(. You should do a video on pin trading. I LOVE pin trading and I'm sure other people will too if they know the ins and outs. Thanks Justin!!!
I love your videos, I will sit and watch them over and over. I'm in utah and can only go about once a year. You should do a video on pin trading. I LOVE pin trading and I think other people should learn it. Thanks!!!
