I love these old sharpeners 👍 brilliant job building the new clamp. I love the colour choice, you got that spot on. I also love the decision to polish up the handle instead of painting it, that was a stroke of genius. Fantastic work my friend.
When I first saw this I thought it is exactly the same as the one I have. This is in fact a Soviet copy of the original which is a German Staedtler pencil sharpener. Mine was made in the 1960's. There are slight differences including: 6 pencil gripping teeth instead of 3, a finer casting on the German one with less casting marks, better fitting sharpening spiral cylinder which does not need that washer you have in yours, orange tinted transparent plastic shavings catcher with Staedtler embossed onto the front. Also, the handle is a hard black plastic which had an oval profile. The original paint colour was a hammer finish metallic blue a bit lighter in shade than the one you used. I restored mine too. :) Good job.
Staedtler, That name is still going strong i think . The Soviets like the Japanese were great at copying things and sometimes improving them , the casting marks is typical Soviet , they did not worry about that sort of thing so much , it was the same with the T-34 tank , very rough but quantity mattered more than looks

Ohhh the memories! If a teacher had one of these bad boys in Infant or Junior school, they were Gods! I'm sure we used to have a "Pencil Monitor" in one class whose sole job was to sharpen pencils with one of these. I was never chosen...and it saddens me to this day! (It's a good 30 years lol)

A beautiful restoration. Love the colour. For some reason I found the 'pencil art' on the front plate quite attractive. I would have been tempted to leave it but then the mirror finish would not be there. Oh well.
Ms Queen Lucy is so Beautiful that she will keep you on your toes. I enjoyed how you did this pencil sharpener most kids now days don't even have clue as what this is let also what it does.

Kids today wouldn't have a clue what that is nor how to use it. In fact, many probably don't even know what a pencil is for that matter. Very nostalgic for those of us who remember them. 11/10

По сей день такой пользуюсь! Великолепная точилка, но не для всех типов карандашей... Отличная работа!
