The reason you were having problems with the steel screws sticking in the aluminum was because of galvanic corrosion. This is an electrochemical process in which one type of metal corrodes another type of metal. Normally not a big issue unless there is an electrolyte present such as water which will exacerbate the problem. Since this was a food processing tool, it was probably cleaned thousands of times with soap and water.
You get the same thinh happen with aluminium car whhels , it will eventualy push the tyre away from the rim and you will have a slow leak that will get worse . Easy fix, take the tyre off , wire brush the rim and put back together times 4 . Easier to get a tyre repair place to do it though )))
I was thinking about this. Stainless steel wouldn't do this, but copper and normal steal and aluminum would... I think if you examine the periodic table you could find compatible metals that would not corrode each other. Aluminum and Copper are such two metals, as is Iron and Nickel.

This thing was not designed to be easily cleaned...so it wasn't cleaned at all. A shining example of how NOT to design food prep tools. Very nice job; now it can live the rest of its days as a conversation piece.
I agree. I love to see old equipment brought back from the dead, and as you said, nice conversation piece as it will never be used for it's intended purpose again, not when you can buy frozen chips for a fraction of the cost of making your own.
I saw a similar tool refurbished on another channel. The whole thing was easy to take apart by hand and wash... You could swap out the blades for a smaller grid or different shapes, etc.

I went to a local pub, not in the UK. They served supper thick crisps, instead of chips/fries with the fish. Fish and chips are so tasty, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be successful in Ukraine. Heck, Pizza is popular there. However only in Kiev can you get a pepperoni pizza. What I am saying, there is a business opportunity for you, to open a proper fish and chips shop in UA.... Call it Boaty McBoatface's Fish and Chips, and have not only fries but also sea salt crips, plus salt & vinegar too.
