My immediate reaction to your clearing out the cobwebs bare handed was a resounding NOPE-NOPE-NOPE! Time to grab the vacuum. The grill cleaner is a stroke of genius, though, and the bright red paint is gorgeous.
Fantastic restoration job you did on the old shoe polishing machine. I bet making two new polishing brushes was painstaking work. Anyway, it looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work

Was it beside the X-ray machine that showed your foot inside the shoe and had no radiation shields at all?? Kids used to play with them watching their toes wiggle .
Not at that store , but another about 4 blocks away...crazy to think about it now🤔
I have a 50 year old hotel shoe polish machine so I watched this episode with great pleasure.
I definitely remembered that shoe shining machine when i was a young boy. It sure would be nice to have one now..

I used to see these things in airports, train stations, and bowling alleys.
Those new brushes are a testiment to the dedication of getting the restoration done well. Fantastic job
i watch a lot of different channels who do restoration. i can see that your strength is creativity and a steady hand. you're like a painter the way you paint the chemicals on very neatly. you're very artistic in your approach, so the outcome isn't just accurate, or functional, but especially attractive to look at. you should lean into that in your advertising and sales bc it's what you do best, and it'll attract customers who appreciate your methods, talent, and dedication. You also have a really, really good grasp of household chemistry, as all the great painters of he past did. And finally, as a viewer, i like how you show us how all the little bits and bobbles on the machine work. That's just fun. :)

Had a similar old one at a hotel where I used to work. Two sides with two brushers, one for dark shoes and shoeshine and one for light shoes and shoeshine. Each side had a big felt-wheel to polish. Worked surprisingly well

@@bloodytusk9897 ты странный. Я карщик, у меня на каре нет ни то чтобы ключей гаечных, даже отвёртки нет! Но тем не менее, я работаю и иногда даже ремонтирую, потому что эта кара 1996 года выпуска и имеет скверную привычку ломаться в самым неподходящий момент.

I worked at a golf club in the 1980s. They had several shoe shinning machines to polish the golfers’ street shoes and golf shoes.
Very nice restoration. I'd guess from the hardware and construction this was made in the 90s or later.
Good job & well chosen, this machine is well made & it's condition beforehand was ripe for a restoration.

My barber has one in his shop right now.
In the U.S. in the sixty's there was one of these in every shoe store and department store. They had open brushes and a tall post with a switch on top. Seems you can still get them on Amazon.
Is it the same one or more modern?

The more modern ones use a handle that comes up from the base to about waist high and the button lives there. I kinda like this older one better.

yes, i've seen something like this used at the bowling alley to clean the rrental shoes. also sometimees tailors/dry cleaners/tux renters all had them to shine shoes worn with wedding clothes. just as a free service to get people in the door bc people go to those stores when they are planning fancy outfits

We had something like that at our curling club, but the brushes went underneath your shoe rather than on top so that you could clean your soles before you walked on the ice.
Wish we had some of that paint stripper here in the us. They took out the chemical that works and put in one that doesn’t. 😢 nice job.

They had one at the old mall in the 70s. For a quarter it would spin for about 5 minutes. You had to bring your own polish though

I don't get the two brushes.. are they different? Looks a bit redundant if not.
The ones I saw, like 30 years ago in New York hotels, one side was for brown shoe cream and the other for black. But this one only has one dispenser... so I am puzzled as well.

I used to see them commonly in the U.S. as a child, but by the 90's, with athletic shoes/sneakers being the predominant footwear, most of them were gone. Still available at higher-class locales, like botique hotels, and you can still buy one for home use if you do a bit of searching.
While scraping paint off, there was some rust that for a moment looked like Wood grain😅

I usually don’t comment on your videos but aren’t the brushes supposed to be made of some sort of animal hair? Won’t the nylon scratch the shoes?
Ботинки, в которых работают на стройке, нужно было покремить и отполировать, чтобы проверить двойную реставрацию. А так, машинка хорошая, старого, добротного качества и, что самое главное, ремонтопригодная. У кого руки есть, всегда может отремонтировать. Не китайское барахло.
Так она же двухсторонняя! А слабо одновременно два ботинка почистить? 😁
