- Steve, Tim and Bobbie’s ‘talkie bit part 2’ goes on for perhaps a LITTLE too long! He doesn’t even have time to play a song before going to the 3pm news sequence, but panics and hits the 4pm sequence instead??! Well-bluffed Wrighty, but we noticed!! (Love the show, serious recoverin’ - absolutely no g)

RIP to the best radio DJ that ever lived. Now in my 40’s, steve wright has been present on the radio my whole life and I can remember his voice from a very early age. So sad rest easy silly boy Serious Resting no G (if you know you know)

Thank God for Wrighty! The man (somehow) convinced the controller of Radio 2 when he joined in 1996 - Jim Moir - that 'AJ Music Productions' should return to compose and produce the jingles for SWITA on Radio 2, as they had done for SW on Radio 1. Moir agreed. So in the beginning, Radio 2 had their house JAM jingles as well as Wrighty's AJ ones. Time went by and Radio 2 dropped JAM for GrooveWorx, and then dropped them for Wisebuddah in 2013, but AJ jingles have remained all throughout. Credit to AJ really, those jingles still sound as fresh today as they did when Steve played them the first time round in 1987/8 (and in fact some of those old jingles can still be heard on the air today!)
Radio 2 evidently knows this, and has since commissioned AJ to produce jingles for other Radio 2 shows, like Jonathan Ross, and even Ken Bruce!!

Didn't we all? And don't we all? A national treasure. Millions will miss him. I'm still in a state of shock.
I don’t mind Steve Wright. He does have a habit of playing an older song which was a ‘wow moment’ of a tune you hadn’t heard in a long time, then at the end goes off on a tangent and forgets to tell you the artist etc. That’s annoying.
But he is still light years ahead of Mills.
More box ticking with the bbc. Standard stuff really.
And it is unacceptable. The BBC should be ashamed.
I dig Steve Wright and his sandals , but he does have a nasty habit of regularly playing one of the most annoying songs EVER committed to tape . . . Ed bleedin' Sheeran's god-awful 'Galway Girl ' AAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! Does my f***kin' head in!

I completely agree too about Taylor Swift and Adele, two more that are played far too often on daytime R2.

As mess ups go this is a doozy because it's an epic jingle, sadly missed.

Wrighty is the only presenter left on R2 worth listening to. Once he goes, that's the end of R2 for me too.

No more talking over every song, singing badly, non stop oldies that actually do stop, constant plugging on Serious Knobbin, time checks every 10 minutes and fake messages that people "love the show".
I can't believe people are so upset. He's been producing the same rubbish for nearly 25 years.
He's been absolutely awful for so many years.

At all other times there's simply no one who is gonna brighten up the aft'noon's , particularly in the colder months , than the tightrope-strutting visionary of consciousness Mr Steve Wright , 65 , of Budleigh Salterton.
Steve Wright - a bloke that has managed to get away with it for over forty years and with a massive over payment of tax payers money. Don't feel sorry for him. I wonder what Scott Mills is going to be taking from the public purse? Although better than Steve Wright, I would have thought a significant saving is on the cards, say about 75% compared to what Steve Wright was taking? Excellent result. All the savings and cost cutting still won't save the BBC though.
I doubt this is about cost-cutting. Mills still earns a lot at the BBC, as shown in their accounts last year. No doubt this move to Radio 2 will lead to a rise in earnings too. Wrighty is irreplaceable, he is a national treasure, a part of millions and millions of people's lives, and now he's gone, what do we do in the afternoons?

The real good news about Steve Wright leaving is two fold one gets rid of Wright second we won't get that prat Scott Mills seating in for Ken Bruce when he's on holiday so it's win win
