I am a former R2 studio manager, working at Wogan House from 2006-2021, and at Broadcasting House for quite some years prior to 2006. Naturally, I love Radio 2, but sometimes, things don't go entirely to plan. I love a technical fault, me. Thanks to the invention of the BBC Sounds App (and we're constantly reminded that it exists EVERY HOUR just before the news jingle) I am able to record these hiccups as I listen to them, in the hope of sharing them with like-minded people who also love it when things go a little bit wrong.

Paddy O'Connell - desk breaks down
Paddy, although primarily a R4 presenter, of course drives the desk himself when he's presenting at R2. Something went wrong with the desk on Sunday though, nothing a quick reboot can't fix though! Excellently handled I thought.

Our Jo gets confused with her timings and goes to news exactly 3 minutes early. Fading up the newsroom (Studio 6D at Wogan House) she hears conversation and realises they're not ready!!! A great little outtake.

Tina's studio at Wogan House (Studio 6C) wasn't faded up correctly in Vernon's studio (6A), leading to this automation fail. * A very basic & brief overview - at midday, the output continues to come from 6A, before the feed is switched to come from 6C at a point during the news (you can sometimes hear an audible change, it was much more obvious during the Jeremy Vine-Steve Wright handover durin...

Note: Not a fail... just a place to share this montage Zoe Ball officially has the most number of Radio 2 (Wisebuddah sung) jingles - we counted 12. Maybe there are more - let us know? Pre-Covid, a new presenter would maybe get one or at the most two sung jingles commissioned specially for them over one of the standard Radio 2 jingles... often either '60s Pop', '80s Pop', '00s Pop' or '00s Rock...

Radio is not "live" as such. A few seconds of delay are added to allow for censoring. The producer / editor missed their chance. ;)
