- Some are calling a local store owner a guardian angel after he saves a stranger’s life after the teen was being chased by four people, one carrying a handgun. Surveillance footage shows the split-second decision the owner made just inches away from the life-saving encounter. fox2now.com/ne...
Operations manager and Crown Wash Express Store owner Jay Johnson say he is counting his blessings after a very scary situation on Friday.
Johnson says he was standing at the front door of his store located on Kingshighway in the City of St. Louis when he noticed five teens running toward his store, “I could not tell if they were just running normal, just until they got halfway across the lot,” said Johnson.
The incident was captured on his surveillance video as teens got closer to the door Johnson noticed one teen was being chased by four other teens and knew it was a cry for help, “The gentleman got closer to the front door, he looked at me debating if he wanted to run in the store or run and try and get away. I held the door open and let him in and lock the door from the other four guys that were chasing him. I was thinking I have my own son and I hate to see something happen to him,” said Johnson.
Once Johnson reviewed the video, he noticed one of the teens chasing the man had a gun in his hand and his finger on the trigger. Johnson says if he had to do it all over again, he would.
“I did not see the gun, but my decision was I had to stand firm, had I could not buckled with my decision. If I would have let them in the store, they would have done whatever they wanted to do, so I had to block that doorway. I just really did what any father would do. I was not looking to be a hero. I really was hoping to save someone life and that day I saved more than one life, the guy with the gun and the gentleman they were chasing.”

Honestly I been around lot of negative people this week and I'm so drained it's just nice to see this ya know as a reminder not everyone is as terrible as the people you're around. As a teenager I was chased in my car by bad kids and I ran in a store and hid in backroom as the clerk said I wasn't in there and called 911 for me.

But if you think that everybody would have done what he did, you're wrong. A lot of people would have pulled out their cell phones and recorded it from some safe place. It's sad but it's how it is now.

While I generally wholeheartedly agree, the criminals in this case were minors. Laws in a lot of places protect their identities and as it was probably an on-going case at the time of the news broadcast the judge had probably had restricted what info they were allowed to show. Today you could probably find out if you looked it up i imagine. Not to mention everyone in the neighbourhood more then likely knew who they were anyway.

3 people were chasing me down a minor hill that was near my school since I was on my way home. They caught me in the middle of the street after about 5 minutes of chasing me.
I was sure they would beat me up and stab me( 1 of them was that 1 violent kid in school that carries a knife 🔪 )
The buss driver for 1 of the private schools that were near our public school stepped the out of the bus and started screaming at them until they left.
I can't remember his face but I think about him 10 years later.
Thank you for saving me back then wherever you are.

While it may be that the video was insufficient to make an informed arrest, or whether they were picked up for the crime but it wasn’t published, the point I believe, was that the escapee was indeed in great danger from the pursuers. For all we know, they could be in a sanctuary city where crime like this is allowed to run rampant. Vote demoncrat and this is what future law abiding people’s lives will be like. Mad respect for you man, we need more people like you because this world is slowly started to accept the fact that gun violence is common and something usual, I hate how teens and even kids walk down the streets and just casually keep walking even when hearing shootings happening nearby. I've seen it myself, I was just walking passed a playground and you know kids were playing and doing everything kids do until I stopped when I heard a gunshot nearby, then followed many other gunshots and the kids all stopped ad said to each other "It must be a drive by or something..." "Yeah it might be?" And then they continue playing not realising the shooting might happen at the playground or the person shooting might come closer and put the kids in danger. It just melts my heart seeing that there are good people out there.
