Great video. A lot of the focus here is over my title which I understand. I mentioned it in a comment somewhere but the point of the title is to parody sunnyv2's dramatization and title formatting, i do not believe that he has ruined this genre, one of my final points in the video is that I think his way of covering things can be dangerous but there are still some great video essay channels that are doing very well :) but I understand how that could be misunderstood from the way I've presented things, will make sure to do a better job in the future

Honestly you could say the same about my video, how it could've been better structured and researched, and how halfway in, I just started restating everything you said about video essays, just with outer wilds music. Also, the parody of your title was completely lost on me lol.
I think your channel is an exceptional example of what makes video essay so great. Anyone, with enough time and effort, can put something together that is beautiful and awe inspiring. It's a sandbox where, really, you can do whatever you want.
There is a very blurry line between argumentative essays and long-form documentaries on TH-cam, and a lot of people aren't willing to admit what they categorize as essays are more succintly categorized as "independent documentary filmmaking".
I agree that it looks ugly as shit, but for brand recognition it great for him. All the Sunnyv2 clones all also copy that style in hopes they can trick people into clicking thinking it’s sunny.

man i love video essays, i've only watched a handful but i've never regretted watching them, i watched one five hour video essay about one piece and another three hour video essay about payday 2 lore, and this video reminded me why i love video essays so damn much.
I gotta praise you for using the Outer Wilds soundtrack and showing some of my favorite TH-camrs (Nexpo, Lemmino, and Emplemon. I'll check out the others as well) in your video. Me subscribing is definitely worth it.

It's easy to tell which videos you put more thought into, I've watched multiple videos of your channel and though the style is similar some just feel more polished, good job on this one
Hmm interesting video. While I do think that SunnyV2 is by far one of the most shallowest of TH-cam channels, I don’t think that he ruined video essays. But more so gave them a whole new level that’s almost becoming a new standard for TH-cam. But what makes the masters of channels like SunnyV2 almost an evil genius is that they don’t care how much controversy they stir up. Even if people are going to call them out for their BS, they know that when they apologize; that’s when they lose to cancel culture. But hey that’s just my opinion.

MAN I love your editing style! It feels so dynamic yet so still. You can focus on one subject then swiftly transition to another smoothly! The visuals are also not too strong but are complex and creative to keep my eyes on it without being distracting to lose atention to the voice over! i have seen the video and have likely missed it but what part of it exactly is transphobic? it seems a bit as if people are calling it transphobic just because its criticizing Chris. the video was average sunnyV2 video but i don't remember anything standing out as discriminatory in it
@@BigToro its transphobic in the sense that he views Kris and her transition as a poor business move instead of what it actually is, Mrbeasts friend deciding to live their life in the way they want. SunnyV2 makes it out to be this catastrophic change (similar to how he exaggerates the negatives in a lot of his other videos) and says it could damage or ruin the mrbeast brand, which obviously hasn't been the case, the biggest hit they've taken is on the beast reacts channel where the newest vids with Kris in them all are dislike bombed to hell and the comments are doing everything they can to insinuate their hate for Kris without actively saying it to keep their comments from getting removed. Definitely not the most transphobic video or take on Kris transitioning but treating a persons life and personal decisions as nothing more than a business move is pretty sad
He constantly frames Chris coming out as being harmful to jimmy and his family. How is that not transphobic? He isn't just being critical of Chris for things that they did, just the fact that they are now trans. The video is basically saying how bad of a friend and father chris is for being trans. If you don't see that I implore you to go back and watch it again because you clearly did not pay much attention. @@BigToro

I have no problem with video essays and even enjoy them myself, my issue with Sunnyv2 is that he slowly started to become more heartless and inhumane with his video subjects. (I.e) when he blamed Kris and said she was being a bad friend simply because she transitioned. That her transition was a bad thing for Mr. Beast. On a separate note he’s more forgiving and willing to chop up a man’s drama or issues as “hey man boys will be boys” and when it comes to women it’s “women are the worst and deserve the worst for their crimes” I made a comment on his video a year ago saying, “give it six months and this guy will be complaining about pronouns” and he lived up to that.
Does he really became any more heartless than before? I remenber some of his videos that are older that he basically talked shit about personal problems of people, not the "Having a children is bad for views" type of thing, more "This guy is pathetic in trying to do something good in his life and this will never change" type. But I stopped watching him eons ago and I don't remenber a lot because honestly his videos just blend together in my mind, so take that as you will.
I'd prefer the paper if I had depth in the subject. Making videos is slow and takes away time from research just to produce something visually appealing. I'm slowly realizing that I may not prefer video for the kind of detailed content I'd like to make.

I think his videos really resamble mc donalds. Its good once in a while, you know what to expect, nothing really surprises you nothing dissapoints you. Its just something to watch while eating.
What defines a video essay? I thought they were the extra long videos (like 40-50 mins) where a person talks about a topic in-depth as if presenting it to a class (hence, video essay) but I never considered SunnyV2 a part of that genre. If SunnyV2 is a part of it, then like 90% of TH-cam is too.
