I think you really nailed the nuance of the situation! We all know he is a talented player, but with the pressures of being the manager of united, how can Ole risk giving an inexperienced player a shot in the midfield. I mean, Ole is being criticized for benching Pogba and Ronaldo at times, so imagine benching Bruno! If he ever benched bruno and played Van De Beek, and we don't win, there will be chaos. Its a lose-lose for Ole and Van De beek. Fans put too much hope on players - think of Martial fc, Pereira fc, and Mkhitaryan fc and Fred fc. I think the best thing for Donny is a loan spell or to sell him if he can't get game time. There is no need to shoe-horn a good number 10 in Donny and make him defend - that would absolutely not be the best to utilize Donny. Donny reminds me of a younger and stronger Juan Mata, which is a great thing! Poor management by owners and Ole are to blame for the Pogba drama and Donny drama.
Very similar fall to Dele Alli, who played a similar role as the number 10 turned second striker who finished off chances- but their versatility ended up stagnating their careers as the style of play changed. Both of them need to move on from their current clubs immediately.

I was mostly focusing on the players from the academy in the intro, that's why I didn't mention other important players to that team such as Ziyech, Tadic, etc. But yes, Ziyech was an absolute magician at Ajax!
Man Us problem is that they have no defensive midfielder outside of a very old Matic. This has lead to them buying attacking midfielders with high work ethics and turning them into hatchet men 6. Look at Herrera at Bilboa and Fred at Shaktar, both were attacking creative players who happened to cover a lot of ground. They come to Man U and are forced out of position. Man U have failed at building a balanced midfield and are forced to compensate by "destroying" the creativity of players they do sign. They need a 6 which will allow the midfielders they do have to be played in their natural attacking roles. Unfortunately they are run by inexperienced football people and are managed by a man relegated with Cardiff
As a life long united fan I can’t fathom why Donny doesn’t get games. Especially over the alternative which is just hurting the club. All I can guess is it’s down to just pure ignorance and stubbornness from ole. Which unfortunately is another black mark against him as a manager.
Thank you so much for this. It was almost like I thought my eyes decieved me ever since I followed the amazing run of Ajax in 2019 and that the shills at the stretford paddock are calling people like me as a Donny cultists just because I thought he was a good player. Some people have gone so far as to say he is not a good player but a nice lad thats why he is getting so much sympathy
No matter who you support or not you gotta feel bad for donny, so much potential to sit on the bench behind fred and mctomminay, hopefuully he either goes somewhere where he plays or starts playing for united
Interesting video Adrian. Donny was never my favourite player while he was still at Ajax (Ziyech, De Ligt and Onana were during that period) but he has certainly been important for us. I completely agree Donny's strengths do not match the way Solskjaer wants to play. Donny and his agent are being too nice/naive and should just demand a transfer in January. Small note: Frenkie de Jong is NOT from the Ajax Academy, he played for Jong Ajax after he had already made his debut for another team called Willem II
The reason Donny doesn't feature is the same reason Pogba doesn't play well at United. They do not have a natural, sitting midfielder. If they had used the Ronaldo money and bought Soumare or Bissouma, they'd be a better team, with Donny and Pogba playing as 8s
Brilliant video Adrien. Such a shame that United didn’t know what kind of player they were getting and even worse that Ole hasn’t recognised this after working with him for more than a year
great work again can't help when you got a manager like Ole though I can't believe we still have people like conte on the market and they still trust him
People forget that the season before Donny came in, Man Utd crashed out of multiple competitions at the semi final stage and dwindled towards the end of the season due to fatigue. Plus Pogba had spent months injured. At the time Ole admitted he should've rotated more. It was clear Ole didn't trust his bench, therefore Donny sort of made sense to give Ole a quality rotation option. But it's just weird how things have gone since then, crazy.
I've always seen Van de Beek as being similar to Gini Wijnaldum. Before Man United got him I hoped Liverpool would, as I thought he had potential to be great for us.
I feel VDB at Utd has also been unlucky in a way, he came in when Ole was under pressure after starting the 2020/21 season badly and it was hard to get him in the team 2021/22 when he was promised to get more minutes coz the system was to be changed Utd failed to get a CDM and to add on that they signed Ronaldo meaning if Pogba plays as the LW then VDB gets no minutes The Young Boys game was one where he had a chance to get in the team like Fred vs PSG away when Ole was interim manager but then AWB got a red card and VDB had to be sacrificed for the team Now Fred won't play vs Leicester he may start but Ole prefers Matic, his combination with Matic is superb wish they both start since they haven't participated in the international games and they're fresh, that will give Utd an edge over Leicester since they're fresher
it is not pointless. OGS's ultimate brand new tactics and style of play - DD - or double decker - is to borrow Jose's bus last abandoned in north London and park his own on top of it. Making a double decker this way by putting two buses on top of each other is genius, ensuring there're lots of spare parts for free waiting around ready to be used at moments notice - Donny is just one of those parts in Ole's bus that might get used sometime in case of a major failure in Jose's bus like MacFred or Matic...
@@RabonaTV Good idea. The tempo in Portugal should suit DvB fine. In the PL he is just not good enough... You have a comment on his stats? th-cam.com/video/cvfJlzXsN1E/w-d-xo.html
Donny Van De Beek would have been a logical signing for us if Paul Pogba left us. We signed the right player at the wrong time. No way Donny is getting ahead of Bruno Fernandes and Pogba and Ole reliance on McFred will kill Donny's confidence. No question a great player but joined us at the wrong time. I won't be surprised if he leaves us to thrive elsewhere in January. Ole is doing the same mistakes that Mourinho did with De Bruyne during his time at Chelsea.
The problem is everybody seems to be convinced Donny is a 10 and thus can't displace Bruno, but everytime I watch him play, he seems far more suited to the 8 role, which, if Ole wants to persist with Pogba on the left-hand side, Donny would fit perfectly. Against West Ham - a game we lost, I know - Donny was getting stuck in, tackling, tracking, and playing some very neat and tidy passes. Why Ole doesn't play him is honestly baffled on me, and if I had a choice right now - with how disjointed and disorganised United look - between Ole and Donny, I'd take Donny. I think a great manager would utilise him. Pep would love him.
It kinda feels like a lot of the Ajax players have kinda been meh. A lot of these players looked like they would lead the next generation, but now they are either playing for average teams or not playing.
That title put the words in my mouth! VDB looking back was a pointless transfer (no disrespect to him.) We played with holding midfielders that Ole won't replace 90% of the time. Pogba is a better Box to Box midfielder. Bruno is our starting 10. Surely a player like VDB won't want to play 2nd string for long. He also wasn't really well known outside of Europe either, so I doubt he's a commercial signing. Utter foolishness coming from whoever was in charge of that transfer.
In a very roundabout way I feel like Grealish’s transfer is similar, except for the fact that he IS being forced into every game despite not really fitting when the likes of Foden and De Bruyne are also on the pitch
Not even close. In United De Veek gets benched and doesn't get the chances. In City, Grealish is being played so he can adapt and gain confidence, after all his role is mainly based on having the leadership to orchestrate the attack. There's nothing in similar between the two transfers, not even on their personal finality. Grealish knew he was going to be a star signing and Van de Beek getting benched was something everyone who knew about football had the foreshadow on mind.
Thing is, our squad lacks a player who's capable of playing the #6 behind two offensive #8/#10 hybrids. I think in a 4-3-3 formation like that, with a top-class anchorman in front of the defenders, Donny could play and shine alongside Bruno. Would be the perfect position for Pogba, too btw. So we could have vdB and Pogba sharing minutes and competing for starting next to Fernandes. Lingard could be another good option for those two cm/cam positions. At least it would fit him better than playing out on the wing. I really hope we gonna get this type of player we need soon enough, so Donny can get his chance at United. Sell Fred, keep Mc to have another more defensive midfield option.
As a united fan all I can say is I am absolutely disgusted in the treatment of DVB under ole it's makes me sick.. false promises and we are crying out for someone in that midfield and he isn't being given a chance!? None of us can understand it and we are absolutely outraged! I hope to see donny outlast ole with us and get his chance he's been so patient and respectful ole has completely destroyed the young man's career. Why he did not let him go when he wanted to is baffling.
The main attacking mid target for Ole was Grealish but due to the pandemic he was deemed expensive hence Utd got VDB who was cheaper. Does it mean Grealish too couldn't have got minutes too Or is this the reason Ole passed on signing a CDM this summer coz it's said Utd opted to go for their prime target and not their alternatives in the list coz with £40M Utd could have got Ruben Neves but they passed on that since Ole has always wanted Declan Rice but at £80M or more he was considered expensive especially after spending on Sancho and Varane
I like him more in the 8 role, you can see more quality from him in that position. On the 10 position he likes to play more off the ball and i don't like that from him.
The lads career is stagnating at Man U, Ole will tell every player they're part of 'the plan' just to try and please everybody.... and he's doing so much of that he's not actually pleasing many.
VDB by characteristics would resemble very much what in Italy they call "mezzala di inserimento" it translates to insertion half-winger. Basically is one of the two forward midfielders in a 4-3-3 which job is to insert himself in the box with late runs and opens up spaces. One player very famous for this was Bonaventura which had quality in his legs also but his main weapon was these runs that would bring 10+ goals a season. Ten Haag very smartly put him in the 10 role to be closer to the opposition goal while putting Ziyech as said in the video as a 10 which departed from the wing because he felt more comfortable starting from there. I personally don't think that in English football bar Liverpool and City there is a team that plays with that brand of player. As said in the video he should go to a team that plays with press and counter-press and a lot of movement. German clubs are first to come to mind where he could become a starter and the best team for him would be Liverpool. Most other teams would have him as a tactical option rather than starting every other game. I would see this even at Milan which plays a high pressing energetic game with the 4-2-3-1 formation as well. One of the main criteria of most of the 10s is to drop back and link-up play, something that VDB isn't the player you are looking for so it is very conditioning in that sense. But as i said above, in an energetic, possession, pressing 4-3-3 VDB can easily do the 3d of the midfield. For a Barcelona rebuild, he would make perfect sense in a midfield of Pedri and De Jong.
U look at Chelsea, Liverpool & City - Owner, Front Office Leader / Talent evaluator & Manager..... Then u look at Man Utd ---- Glazers, Woodward & Ole & it's no mystery why Man Utd no longer wins Silverware...... how can they possibly compete
I wanted him at United, but as I saw him playing further up the pitch at Ajax, I began to be a little more concerned. Fernandez is already there, and it wouldn't make sense to bench Bruno for Donny. My main issue is that god awful Fred gets to play day in and day out, when Donny would have been much better. Anyways, he's just another player United has wasted
I feel Donny would play more if Man Utd has a proper 6 and could play a 4-3-3, he would rotate more with Bruno and Pogba as one of the two 8s. He is partly a victim of the management prioritising other positions over a DM
Some man u signings smack of "oh, someone better has turned up, let's sign instead. Vdb/ fernandes, Cavani/Ronaldo. Also solsjaer doesn't know how to move on players. Lingard: keep him, we won't use him. Mata: keep him, won't use him. Matic: keep him won't use him. Phil Jones: keep him , can't use him (permanently injured). Still lots of deadwood, because solsjaer won't refresh squad. And he won't while pogba and Ronaldo are there.
from day one in august 2020 I said he had made a terrible move, it had di maria mark 2 all over it, a great player who would never play nor fit their system, fernandes is a every week player just as scholes was when veron was bought by united. Van De beek should have either stayed at ajax the extra year or gone or a ac milan or dortmund where he would have played most weeks in the 8 role.
You can't win without a team. Regardless the number of World Class players/Top Class players you have. You won't win anything specific, without having a balanced team. With balance, I mean to have all positions occupied atleast twice....
How's he a pointless transfer? If you want to challenge on all fronts you need to have a big squad. Imagine if Bruno and pogba got injured or were out of form. Then vdb has a clear role. Personally i think he was brought in as a replacement for pogba whose contract was running down. If pogba leaves, vdb has a natural role in the team but till then he's a squad player. He will get outings in the cups.
i remember manU fans saying they signed him for sQuAd DePtH, when its clear how unhappy he is and how ole ignores him and cant utilize him in his "system"
I think he is the spiritual successor of Thomas Müller. He should’ve went to Bayern. But, for right now, Donny needs to revolt. Tell Ole, “Hey if I’m going to be on the bench next game, don’t even bother putting me on the sub bench list.” Force an out because his talent are better utilized elsewhere.
Poor management forever trying to get a deal, address the teams needs, a CDM is needed, if you need to pay a little over the odds so be it, complete the team. VDB deserves a better chance but how is he to be fit it in with that attacking mid field.
The weak spot in the ManU squad is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, not van der Beek. As long as Solskjaer is at the helm ManU will never be a dominant force again. ManU might get close, but with Solskjaer it will only end in frustrating disappointment. Ole just isn’t good enough to manage a team at this level.

Not an Academy Product mate
@@RabonaTV got it ! thanks for the clarification .
If rivalry didn't existed, liverpool would have a look at vdb to replace gini
As a life long united fan I can’t fathom why Donny doesn’t get games. Especially over the alternative which is just hurting the club. All I can guess is it’s down to just pure ignorance and stubbornness from ole. Which unfortunately is another black mark against him as a manager.
Man, I really wish Liverpool would have sign Donny. He would be great in that midfield.
Waste of a very promising player's prime years.
Prime is 28-30
It's different player to player. Van de beek is either in or entering his prime years.

Ole is a below average manager at best. I can foresee Ronaldo's influence behind his sacking.
I’ll save you 18 minutes. It’s because McFred is more cultured on the ball and have a larger range of passing 😌 said no one ever
No matter who you support or not you gotta feel bad for donny, so much potential to sit on the bench behind fred and mctomminay, hopefuully he either goes somewhere where he plays or starts playing for united
keep up the good work, always amazing content!
Lyes and Adrain with the collab! My Friday has just been made 😁
Interesting video Adrian.
Right player, right club, wrong manager. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
"Hoarding." That summed it up it perfectly. That seems to be a problem with some young managers like Ole and Arteta (see the Saliba situation).
Brilliant video Adrien. Such a shame that United didn’t know what kind of player they were getting and even worse that Ole hasn’t recognised this after working with him for more than a year
great work again
can't help when you got a manager like Ole though
I can't believe we still have people like conte on the market and they still trust him
People forget that the season before Donny came in, Man Utd crashed out of multiple competitions at the semi final stage and dwindled towards the end of the season due to fatigue. Plus Pogba had spent months injured. At the time Ole admitted he should've rotated more. It was clear Ole didn't trust his bench, therefore Donny sort of made sense to give Ole a quality rotation option.
But it's just weird how things have gone since then, crazy.
Hopefully Donny can get out of United, they are wasting him and it almost seems intentional since they're trying to stop him from leaving
I've always seen Van de Beek as being similar to Gini Wijnaldum. Before Man United got him I hoped Liverpool would, as I thought he had potential to be great for us.
True professional, true gentleman, true Blue!
I feel VDB at Utd has also been unlucky in a way, he came in when Ole was under pressure after starting the 2020/21 season badly and it was hard to get him in the team
2021/22 when he was promised to get more minutes coz the system was to be changed Utd failed to get a CDM and to add on that they signed Ronaldo meaning if Pogba plays as the LW then VDB gets no minutes
The Young Boys game was one where he had a chance to get in the team like Fred vs PSG away when Ole was interim manager but then AWB got a red card and VDB had to be sacrificed for the team
Now Fred won't play vs Leicester he may start but Ole prefers Matic, his combination with Matic is superb wish they both start since they haven't participated in the international games and they're fresh, that will give Utd an edge over Leicester since they're fresher
why anyone would destroy their career by going to united is beyond me. Assuming they care about more than money.
it is not pointless.
Come to Benfica Donny. We'll treat you right.
I co-sign this statement.😏

I don't understand ollys plan if i was a man u fan i would be going ape but as a liverpool fan i want him to stay for years.
Lol same
Donny Van De Beek would have been a logical signing for us if Paul Pogba left us.
Pep would love him.
straight up, the most confusing move United for me
just use him once in a while if you buy him already
and Ole, he should be out for long time ago
It kinda feels like a lot of the Ajax players have kinda been meh. A lot of these players looked like they would lead the next generation, but now they are either playing for average teams or not playing.
Great video
Free Donny 🤞
That title put the words in my mouth! VDB looking back was a pointless transfer (no disrespect to him.) We played with holding midfielders that Ole won't replace 90% of the time. Pogba is a better Box to Box midfielder. Bruno is our starting 10. Surely a player like VDB won't want to play 2nd string for long. He also wasn't really well known outside of Europe either, so I doubt he's a commercial signing. Utter foolishness coming from whoever was in charge of that transfer.
Give Ole the GOAT and he will turn him ordinary player. No one should blame the lad
He should go on loan while Ole gets sacked 😂
What's the song in part 4, love the instrumental ❤️
he was probably signed to make the fans happy because we didnt get Sancho and didnt sign anyone exciting that transfer window
Does it mean Grealish too couldn't have got minutes too
Or is this the reason Ole passed on signing a CDM this summer coz it's said Utd opted to go for their prime target and not their alternatives in the list coz with £40M Utd could have got Ruben Neves but they passed on that since Ole has always wanted Declan Rice but at £80M or more he was considered expensive especially after spending on Sancho and Varane
Get that boy to Leeds is all I gotta say!
Hopefully Juve can get him in January. He'd surely flourish in Turin
Surley not
Not with allegri's play style
Amazing video as always
U look at Chelsea, Liverpool & City - Owner, Front Office Leader / Talent evaluator & Manager..... Then u look at Man Utd ---- Glazers, Woodward & Ole & it's no mystery why Man Utd no longer wins Silverware...... how can they possibly compete
that home game vs spurs actually left me in tears. it’s still upsetting to me
I wanted him at United, but as I saw him playing further up the pitch at Ajax, I began to be a little more concerned. Fernandez is already there, and it wouldn't make sense to bench Bruno for Donny.
My main issue is that god awful Fred gets to play day in and day out, when Donny would have been much better. Anyways, he's just another player United has wasted
Donny van de Beek in Midfield with Jude Bellingham would be very nice to have next season
Donny to juve.
It's the only way
We could really use Donnie at Milan
Wasn't Ziyech on that team also??
Why don’t they play him alongside pogba behind fernandes they would have such a fluid attack
You can't win without a team. Regardless the number of World Class players/Top Class players you have. You won't win anything specific, without having a balanced team. With balance, I mean to have all positions occupied atleast twice....
Come to Arsenal. A transfer written in the stars 😅.He is DB10 approved
After Blind and then Depay, he is the third player in recent memory to transfer from Ajax to Man United and not get going.
Blind was fine, he simply wasn't good enough defensively
Depay came from PSV, not Ajax
@@alex-cm9fd
And yet, he is still at Ajax being that wide CB so...
@@alohatigers1199 he is good, just not good enough for Premier league and Man Utd, hence he still plays at a high level, but in Ajax
As a man utd supporter, I hope Donny will outlast Ole and we can finally see him flourish
Quite honestly Van de Beek is a good signing. The problem is the manager. There is no squad rotation whatsoever.
Donny came from the fourth generation of Ajax talented young academic squad
Donny is the new Malcolm. I hope Donny finds a club that knows how to utilize his talent.
Players must consult with data scientists before deciding to make any transfer move.
Donny is a boss. Would pick him over pogba all the time!
*Replacing Fred from DONNIE IS BLOODY CRIME* #Oleaatthewheel
Great Video once again Adrian, keep it up
Poor management forever trying to get a deal, address the teams needs, a CDM is needed, if you need to pay a little over the odds so be it, complete the team. VDB deserves a better chance but how is he to be fit it in with that attacking mid field.
#FreeDonny till it’s backwards 🙏🏾
Am i the only one who's shocked that good ol' Zak isn't heavily featured in this? 😂😂
Not mentioning Ziyech at all, damn
