Quick FYI - for those of you interested in buying this, there’s a bata test sale going on. When I spoke with Andrew he said there are about 25 units left to be sold at this price. $1399 USD which is about $600 off! SO confused... Just a digital input? .... Must detail how that works to power speakers. Almost every other amp has an Analogue stage for input. So, .. there is a DSP / DAC inside that accepts coax only ?.. Sound like a very niche / specific use case amp. GaN is awesome .. but this seems super limited.
@@MisterChibs It's not unusual for a power amp -- which is what this is -- to NOT have a DAC. Very few do. But digital music is made up of ones and zeros. At some point in the signal chain -- and this point is always before amplification -- those ones and zeros must be converted into an analog waveform, hence the need for a DAC. To say that it takes the digital signal from a streamer and sends it to the speakers is off base : the streamer must take the digital signal, convert it to analog via the internal DAC, send that signal to the amplifier then send it to the speakers. Because GaNFET has much greater electron flow than MOSFET, the sound should be more quick and nimble, but you would need a double blind test to actually prove that.
@@stevenholt5484TBH Steven, this aspect for me is the most confusing thing. I hope to understand it better myself so I can properly explain to you guys. Here’s a quote from Peachtree “The GaN 1 is also designed so that it does NOT even require a digital-to-analog-converter (DAC). The digital audio signal at the input directs the amplifier outputs to drive the speakers. Although DACs have continued to improve over the years, there is no DAC better than NO DAC! This concept is not a new one as similar devices often referred to as "Power DACs" made quite a splash in our industry years ago, but this time around, using the concept with GaN-FETs raises the bar to an entirely new level.” Music is definitely getting converted from digital, because I’m listening to sound coming out of my speakers. It’s just not the same way an external DAC does it🍻
@@MisterChibs OK, very good then. Do me a favor. When your review is finished, send the unit to Amir at ASR and let's see if this thing has balls. Myself, I've never heard of this thing called a 'power DAC' which PT claims. Manufacturers, they say the darndest things.
Interesting concept I guess. There will be no balance control though because there’s no balance control within the node. No balance control is a 👎🏼 for my needs.
No controls on the Gan 1. Everything must be done from device connected to it. Not sure if other digital streamers have balance controls. Actually this may be worth looking into for my review. Thx Aussie 🍻👍🏻
Lots of good reviews on the audiogon forum too. Noone that's heard it has anything negative to say about it. I belive one guy said it bested his $8000 system. I might upgrade the fuse inside it to a purple fuse to see if it improves it even further.

wow this is SUPER interesting!! Really really looking forward for your review bro!! 👏
Thanks man 🍻
Looking forward to your thoughts on the sound
Thank you Olen! 🍻

Yes! I'll definitely get into this in the review. No need for a separate DAC. It takes the digital signal from a streamer and sends it to speakers. 🍻

I just responded to your other comment. Basically, it works but Peachtree does not recommend it. Check out that pinned comment.
I got this amp a couple months ago. Blew my $4000 amp and dac out of the water
