Going barb for my first char. 16 years and havent started with a barb, or even made a good barb before. But after finding the singer barb build, all you need is frost burns, 2x spirit swords, insight, and a random 4 stack belt (preferably with mana) and you can run hell countess and pindle at ~ lvl 50. Run support/leap barb to help party by boosting stats and stunning the whole screen for 2 mana , then hell anya, and time to party after respec.
Secret AMAZING tip for barbs - trade for the "spellsteel" axe asap - 30 chargers of teleport/decrepify. Use it as swap when kiling trav - teleport in, decrep them, and fight. No one wants this item, but it literally makes trav 10x easier.
Since there is prob no update, I think playing Summon Necro will be decent, as you can multi task, like watching something while you play. And after all u can put one point into Amp/Decrepfy/Lower Resist and any party will be super happy.
I agree about a summon necro, you can wear crap gear in Hell, like all MF and get away with it. It isn't good for grinding one boss over and over, because summon, but it's a cheap way get through Hell.
This game will forever be awesome. While i dont play it all the time, i definitely have stints once a year where i start completely from scratch in single player and build up some gear. Awesome build selections phil
My personal recommendation is to use the thorns defensive act 2 Merc with a summoner necro during playthrough, reasoning is that any skeleton lost will do damage if they are killed by physical damage.
I'd like to add Trapsin to this list. Works on a budget and you get powerful lightning and fire traps so you can kill pretty much anything in the game NP. Immune to lightning? Np. Immune to fire? Np. And you also get corpse explosion with the death sentry trap. Put down 4 lightning traps, 1 death sentry for the corpse explosion and can throw fire traps. Trapsin good.
Also these "budget" builds always include enigma, infinity, etc. these are not budget items. That 4os gothic plate with ral, tal, thul, and ort for that 30res all is budget. Or 4 topaz armor for that 100mf is budget. Infinity is not budget
It’s called Leveling Build (you got to gain levels and progress through game first) buddy. Your end game builds are what you respec into. It’s rare but you can build other builds that aren’t meta but your mileage varies.
With fist of heavens paladin, you have plenty of skill points to spec into hammers as a secondary for things you can't kill with holy bolts. Hammers are so stupidly OP that it works.
Everyone loves the Mosaic Assassin these days, but i still love the classic Trapsin. She can absolutely wreck with minimal gear and once you get that higher end gear she can solo every single zone in the game
Whats the best build to magic find and have zero gear to survive ive played this game for a while but never seem to be able to find good gear always on the poverty scale just wondering whats the best build to start getting gear and can survive hell mode
That *really* depends on your skill level. A Blizz sorc in the hands of a skilled player is godlike; massive damage and with all the cold and freeze effects very durable as well. But if you aren't a good player Blizz sorc is squishy and hard to play. Bone or summon necro are much easier to play but much less effective than for example a Blizz sorc or Hammerdin when you're very skilled. If you want to "get rich", pick a class you're good at playing fast and farm Hate and/or Destruction keys with it. Summoner is much easier to kill than Nihlathak but also much harder to find, take your pick. If you don't know about the way to Nihlathak, it's always 1 of the same 3 maps so basically a free maphack to find him (look it up on youtube). H and D keys are in very high demand early in ladder. Farm them, trade them and reap the rewards. Sorc is obviously the "best" choice because you get teleport. Certainly the best for farming H keys, Summoner is never immune to any element. Also, for some reason, some people seem "allergic" to using mana potions. If you play a Blizz sorc, chug those mana potions and spam Glacial Spike and Static Field while killing mobs. If you are casting fewer spells because you go out of mana you're doing it wrong; refill your mana potions every run and drink them like no tomorrow.
Your best bet on finding the nice uniques / sets in the game is to go sorceress. You need to get to the Hell bosses (Andy / Meph) quickly and sorc is really your only option early on for that. You don't need a ton of gear to be safe on a sorc you just need to know how to play. Otherwise you could stack up a summon Necro with pretty much all MF gear and grind an area like the Pits over and over
I have to get on the Nova Sorc train, it will be my first. After playing with Casting Delay for Blizz and Meteor.. Nova just makes sense. And as GG as Blizz is, everytime i see a body shatter from a cold spell makes me wonder if im missing out on drops 🤔. Lol well sometimes that is..
I play hardcore and I’m not rocking any of these lol. Bone necro. White/spirit, lore, stealth, ryhme, insight merc, (hopefully good rare boots drop). If I played normal ladder I’d go with Java, needs no gear and can slaughter cows with fury
blizzard sorc, ES Nova sorc, hydra/meteor sorc (helpful to have dual elemental damage) trapsin (assassin lightning sentry and death sentry), lightning fury javazon, fist of heaven paladin, fire druid, summon necro, these are just a few of great ladder starters.
@@kraven4027 I heard summon necro can't really happen until nightmare at the earliest if you have okay gear and also Idk what the ES means but I heard the nova sorc has crazy mana trouble and tough ancients
@@charlesrodgers1161 are you looking for a build specifically to solo the whole game alone? Online party play you can get to hell difficulty completion on a full weekend of playing. Playing solo far longer. ES=Energy Shield Icy Veins has leveling guide for each class. For fastest and least amount of trouble leveling especially solo if thats your goal.
Sorry Phil but that beinng said, now U need to do 2nd video: „The easiest play throught characters in D2R“. Because new players will not understand and have some problems in late play throught game when immunities start appear in Hell difficulty.
I'm going to play a meme build this time around because the last few times I've gotten bored of the game too fast. It's either going to be a freezing arrow amazon or a dragon tail assassin this time. Also, I probably would have put javazon or trapsin in the video instead of mosaic assassin since those builds are actually playable after killing hell baal as per your own parameters. You're not going to have dual mosaics as soon as you start farming hell, that's halfway to calling dream paladin a ladder starter.
I got a good start i am farming hell meph day 2 so im good with my blizz sorc. Not racing to 99 just racing to get some of the ladder onlg runewords for mh n.l champs i made this past ladder
Paladin is probably the fastest to get torches because you can rerolle a smiter and do Ubers rigt away. Not the fastest to farm keys though. A Summon druid is also very easy and safe to get through the game, and it is way faster than summon Necromancer unfortunately.
FoH Paladin can farm Shenk better than you think. The holy bolt spam wipes him out quick and then the scripted bombardment wipes out everything around him.
I started with a Mosaic assassin this season. As traps untill i could get 2 claws with the runeword. The strain on the eyes is real. I wouldn't play one again.
no one loves it. it is just an easy character. Dont really have immunes, good life, high defense, max block, spirit shield with 40 all resist is easy to find.
Its a sorc it always has been always will be thats 1 of the problems with the game. Always sorc first to get gear for other char. Sucks but d2 is broken in that way
nah, I never use sorc to get gear for other char. I always use zealot pally as a first char to get gear for other char, because zealot pally is a class that didn't gear dependent at all
Probably the most common is due to nostalgia. What I don't understand is why people need to write comments under the video that they are not interested in. Isn't it just a waste of time? 🤡
basically with hammers all you need to rock is spirit sword and shield, a lore helmet, stealth armor and resist gear to really get going

All great suggestions.
I really like dual spec Firewall/Blizzard for the playthrough and initial farming until you can secure a sunder or infinity.

Yes FB ftw
Mete Orb is a lot of fun if you prefer BALLS to shards, lol

What do you recomend for necro leveling standard summoner with iron maiden will work?
My personal recommendation is to use the thorns defensive act 2 Merc with a summoner necro during playthrough, reasoning is that any skeleton lost will do damage if they are killed by physical damage.
In my opignon bone necro is the best char to end act. U have 3 type of dmg magic, phys and fire. U have access to white rune word. The best char early
Thank you so much for this great explanation of the starter and ladder builds

Detroit brother still out here reppin d2 !! Love it man. I just started a barb. My Druid slaps. Hopefully down the line my barb will 😁
Dragondin is my favorite. I could never stand trying to play a hammerdin and I could never get the gear for it.
So do I need to start a new character now that season 6 has started, then level up, beat the game, then I can do seasonal ladder stuff?
