Ten, fifteen years ago, I usually did extremely well in the beginning of a season, then lost interest once the bots and dupers ruined the economy.
my first character is usually a sorc or a necro because a summon necro can do all content with no gear and a sorc can rush to bosses (usually i make pub games and make everyone else kill baal but i just teleport so i can be lazy)
Sorc or paladin here. Sorc for same reasons, and paladin for same reasons as your necro. Hammerdin with dual spirit can be geared in act 1 nightmare, and is virtually unstoppable until late hell. Necro better suited for longer games, but hammerdin has access to 1pt smite 1pt fanaticism ubers.
About selling items as fast as you can at new ladder start, white or event better 4 sox monarch in first hours can be easly sell for gul rune, many players get gul from hell forge and didnt realise that 2 gul's = vex, so if you lvl up champ who can relativle fast kill hell cows, Nova sorc for example, go and look for these shields. Online is quite fun, if you're into trading. You don't really need other people to play on "multiplayer", if you can trade whatever you find online. I know it increases the drop rate, but also increases the server lag for me (there are little to no South America servers), increases the chances of not getting an item because you're not fast enough to pick it up, and also increases the chances of getting PK'd by some stupid player.
I simulate trading when I play offline. For example: let’s say a HOTO is LO on traderie, then I just use hero editor to give me a hoto when I find a LO rune
#1 is a great point, I struggled to beat Hell with my poorly geared assassin because i wanted the sunder charm, only to farm Andy a bunch afterwards and dropped great stuff like Ravenfrost, TGods, Gores, that would have come in handy

I’m going to play some D2R tonight for sure if the LE issues are still present, at least for a break in between the 20 minute wait to travel between areas
With the terror zones added recently, I personally don't think it is such a good idea longer to not finish hell before you starting farming. You will miss out on great farming opportunity like Andariel, who has awesome drops.
Until you are level 81 it isn't better to farm Terror zones over the level 85 area's. ANd most characters/buils should easily be able to clear Baal/the game at that level.
@@scribbleingz Why punish 99% of the community over 1%? I agree with you that it'll make bots more broken, but there's always going to be bots regardless of what decisions happen in the game. Most people just use JSP and already have the ability to spend real $$ on items anyways.

Does D2 have individual loot dropping yet? Or some kind of dungeon reset? Because without at least one of these, I'm not going to play with other people.

Mosaic is insane. I think that alone is worth the ladder. I haven't played a martial arts assassin since....2002-2003...before ladders even existed! Lol. In fact I think that was the first D2 LOD character I ever rolled!
I wish it was easier to find people to mf with. There's tons of game where people claim an area separately but they are always in such a rush that it becomes a job. I like to casually play, not rush through straight to the end just to restart. For instance when I do countess runs if I happen to tele on an elite group on the way, I will stop and kill them especially if they are ghosts bc of their drop table.
I'm personally a fan of jumping into a baal game and using the 3 minutes of that run to go clear andarial, mephisto, and if i found them quickly enough. Jump into the run for the 4/5 waves and the baal kill itself for xp and loot
That's the problem, my 212mf javazon has crazy fast clear speeds but my 400mf sorc is slower, it depends on what I want to grind though. Javazon for charms, gems for rerolling GCS, hrs, etc, while the sorc will clear actual bosses for boss drops.
Unless they changed the Ladder only items and rune words to be available in offline mode then that is why I still only play Ladder and online. If I missed something, which is highly possible, then I will be moving to offline, but limiting my gear is just not a fun option to me.

Says he didn't beat the game, but is in a terror zone in hell ;) EDIT: The prices dropping thing can work the other way. If you find something like a 37life pally combat skiller, hold it for a while. No one can afford its real value for at least the first week. This especially goes for those of you knowledgeable enough to spot a good LLD (Low Level Dueling) item. Hold on to those for a month. Also, I believe the exploit still exist that you can hold off on completing act 3 quest 6 (kill meph) and just join baal runs, duel games etc. where no one has laid claim to that kill... and keep the quest open indefinitely. This will give you the "Andariel Bug" on every kill until your character completes the quest. (All items at least rare, no junk like bolts or potions. If you do find a magic item, it is guaranteed that there is no set version of that base). Also, get as far into the game as quick as you can. You will level faster with a group, and more stuff can drop. The way I do it on single player (stop at NM Andariel/Evil Countless and get OP until hell pindle) doesn't work very well online. Well... maybe on hardcore it still holds some truth. Also, make game names like "O frostburn N Sol rune" and the like. Always nice to stock up on popular craft ingredients, then either have the fun for yourself, or sell it off. Some people pay top dollar for bundles like 10ral 10pame 10jewel. You could take this down to single pgem level, and still probably worth it. Especially at the beginning of ladder. You can do this the other way, and make games like "O 3pgem N Magefist", which will give you some incentive to keep gems, and possibly a big boost in efficiency really early.

Ahh to bad you don't like fire traps, I like it pretty much I have one on non ladder.
Says he didn't beat the game, but is in a terror zone in hell ;)
EDIT: The prices dropping thing can work the other way.
O and N is offer and need?
You can only have 30 characters in Diablo 2 Offline mode. There is no unlimited :)

My first mistake was buying LE. Let's go b to D2R.
Imaging liking both games
Imagine PLAYING both games. LE servers are still down after 24+ hours.
Just join random games and play with others
I had so many gg items stolen playing with other players that it left a sour taste in my mouth so I pretty much stick to offline single player now
