@@Fastminer07such a shame that after 31st March 2024, a month after Nijigasaki Season 4 Trilogy Movies Part 1, The Crew 1 no longer available forever...😢
Here's a small addition to my oddly specific tech issue with this game. The game did actually have a failsafe for a case like mine, where it tries to install the missing components itself. But of course this, like many other things in this game, did not work. So I had to fix it myself after some messing around. Truthfully, I would've never made a big deal out of this had it only been multiplayer related. But I couldn't even do some simple offline races. The fact I can pay up to 100 bucks for a game and it won't even let me past the title screen for uninstalling *an internet browser* is insane.
So you uninstalled something, that OS maker doesn't easily let you, then something breaks because you don't have that component, and you blame somebody else? If I did something like that, I'd keep in mind a possibility of something breaking and if something breaks - that's on me. Android's SystemWebView is also an internet browser and yet without it, things break. Delete the system32 folder in C:\Windows and see what happens.
Yeah, the value proposition for this game is a joke if you actually buy it. It's so cut back on content compaired to previous forza releases, but is simultaneously the most expensive one ever released. I think, ignoring the bugs, if microsoft had priced it fairly (maybe half what it is) it would not be as lambasted. It has the content level of a stripped back free-to-play forza release.
Tbh, this game can be a decent sandbox for messing around with a group of friends, if it wasn't for the aggressive price and the shenanigans with the edge browser (we all know the only function of edge, is to install chrome 😂)
@@martinleland3969 no, what I mean it's like a toybox, you can do whatever you want with your friends at whatever track you want, horizons doesn't have real life track
My biggest criticism is the career mode. It's unironically a cure for insomnia. No races for racing cars, the good idea but badly done upgrade system. I just don't build up a relationship with my cars because you can only ever use them for one championship with a maximum of 5-6 races and then leave them half upgraded and start all over again with a different car.
@@simonn2045 : Sounds like progression... Oh yeah, it is. Yeah, I didn't buy this new one. I've been playing FM3 because that's how it works. Start with class F and build your way up. There was never anything wrong with that.
The most depressing aspect of the game for me, is how easy anyone can come up with better solutions for problems with better ideas. Your proposed progression system is a perfect example.
It's actually kind of ironic in a way. It's only accessible to blind people because you'd have to be blind to not notice the absolute abysmal issues with the game.
Words cannot describe how disappointed I am with this game. I agree with all the points in the video. One addition I’ve noticed though is the ultra aggressive AI in offline mode, who will ram you off the track and generally treat you like you’re not there. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, the AI always plays bumper cars. Especially at the start and on the first lap when the field is still close together. And who gets the penalties at the end? The player, of course. I would much prefer a conventional AI. But unfortunately Microsoft is sticking to its Drivertar system. Even in Horizon.
Since Forza 2 I've been religiously buying the best version of the iterations. Mostly Collector's edition. I'm glad I don't have the Series X. Otherwise I would have bought this mistake. I might skip the whole generation. I was thinking of waiting till they build a more powerful version of the Series X at a mid-cicle model refresh. But I heard they want to make it a digital console only. That would be a no no for me.
@gobicroy7582 you mad?? Fm7 you could at least have a half decent multi class race. This one they haven't even programmed the AI. F1 cars will sit behind a civic the whole race and the civic will race the f1 cars. Its a mess
Sadly, I knew early on. After Forza 4 and the first Horizon had released, there was an interview with some of the programmers that were working on Forza5. They were asked about what they were doing about the sound for the new cars coming to the game. One programmer answered that they had enough sounds collected and could manipulate them to create new sounds. That was when I understood that these guys were just programmers and not motor sports enthusiasts. Sure enough, Forza5 was not as good as what was expected after the milestone that Forza4 was.
You're right. You could feel the passion of the devs in the first games. Now it feels like a product to be pushed out. The fact that FH5 looks better and has better sounds is unbelievable.
I hate how this game's UI feels like a mobile game. It couldn't have less personality even if it tried which is a shame as 6 and prior had distinct styles on their UI and overall presentation.
I genuinely feel like the state of the game's release came as the result of a poor decision made by management by either Microsoft or Turn 10 or both. Because I really believe that the game did get scrapped at some point and the developers trying to scramble of what was left to form a game that was playable enough with the time that they had left.
Forza Motorsport 8 for me looked like NASCAR 21 IGNITION due to how broken the game is overall while also putting career mode online like NEED FOR SPEED 2015.
not quite how it went down, but close enough to count. T10 management is an absolute fucking disaster and there will likely never be another good motorsport until senior leadership is removed. -- someone in the credits
@@celesyn If you're indeed someone in the credits, then thanks for verifying. It's pretty obvious that something is terribly wrong, and given that Microsoft is famously rather hands-off for the most part, I figured this was moreso a Turn10 problem, just as Halo Infinite was likewise very much a 343i problem. Microsoft gives the funding, gives over half a decade to get these games done, and frankly doesn't do enough hands-on meddling to ensure that teams as incompetently managed as 343i and T10 end up making a game worth a damn. This has gotten to be a HUGE flaw for Microsoft, because these aren't some new IPs or anything, but their absolute flagship brands that they are letting just fall apart and become obsolete. Microsoft does also need to cut out the 18-month contractor idiocy - they have the money to pay for employee benefits, pure and simple, and I think what they're saving in not having to pay for those benefits is costing them more elsewhere by simply not having long-term, efficient, knowledgeable teams.
Here's a suggestion for bonding a player to their car: 1st: Don't throw cars after them like cheap candy. 2nd: Let people unlock cars through events to make them feel earned. And I mean racing events, not this time limited stuff. 3rd: Provide awesome and challenging events in different categories. Can be divisions, but also combinations of drive trains, body styles and class restrictions. Once people have a good reason to use a car and success with it, it will be special to them.
Yeah like give me events where those different parts would really be important. Not just something acquired linearly and used linearly. Make me think about what I'm putting on my car. Me making choices is how I bond to a car. Not me mindlessly grinding for unlocks. Just baffling
True that, my only issue with Gran Turismo in that regard is that it doesn't unlock vehicles for purchase when you win them. So when you get a one time prize car you almost have to keep it.
I want to drive at least 400 cars of the 500 without grinding and unlocking them. This game is wasting my time with grinding. Give me cars like cheap candy that would be awesome!!!
@@vornamenachname4232 True. It's just a game, and you paid full price... so why should you not be allowed to enjoy the entire content without having to grind?
The Forza meat riders are insane in the online groups. “It’s a new game of course it’ll have bugs” “Don’t like it? Don’t play it.” “Make your own game” Like bro. 6 years of dev time 20 years experience 12 games of experience And they can’t fuckin get it right? Customization system is shit. I don’t need to spend hours learning to drive every car I want to upgrade. Especially when the PI system keeps you from max upgrading a car for every race anyway, like it always did. Clutch system is shit. Performance H pattern cars shift like a 30 year old pickup. And DCT, DSG, auto cars (mk5 Supra, ford gt, Lexus lfa) all shift with stock trans as if they’re H pattern cars. Missing 470 cars from FM7 Missing tracks Campaign is stupid. Why drip feed content? It’s not for retention cause FM7 had me still coming back to it years later. FM has me not playing it till more gets added cause I’ve already beat the main campaign. And since I can’t upgrade any cars I want, when I want, I don’t want to stay on the game grinding each car for hours just to make a drift/drag car Missing drag and drift features Missing open air field lobby Have to back out to main menu to change cars when in free play, while FM7 was instantly in the pre lobby) The literal only upgrade is the physics. Everything else is either the same as previous, or a downgrade. This game is a disappointment
"You can't do any better yourself" has always been the dumbest argument. I'm pretty sure it was Roger Ebert who said something along the lines of "I don't have to be a chef to know what bad food tastes like".
Forza started my xbox adventure, it has been my go to game for the last 15 years. I understood the reasons behind fm5 and have been happy with fm6 and still found thousands of hours of fun in fm7. I am genuinely disappointed to say that with fm8 my adventure has ended. Its so far removed from the previous games that i just cannot find the same sustained enjoyment anymore. It was fun while it lasted but i went back to gran turismo and i have to say , its bloody fantastic , feels more like im playing fm4 again.
Another thing that made me quit the forza franchise after having spend thousands of hours on the previous games, is that you cant even play the new motorsport casually. The little time i have during a week to play this game means that by the time i have my car fully upgraded thanks to the carpoint grind, a new week rolls around and i cant even use that car anymore…
I was one of the top vinyl makers on Forza I had to go underground after I made two of the moderators angry, they caught me sharing some of my vinyls that they thought were offensive. I shared so many vinyls and car designs on FH and FH2. I believe I was the main reason they took sharing vinyls and designs out of the game. I bet if you do any vinyl trading in those games to this day you'll run across something I've made, had some pretty funny Family guy vinyls and a lot of manufacturers stuff my redbull Lamborghini design was in the most downloaded for a while on FH that was until the guy who was sharing it got banned for a New York cop car I made, it had unit 420 on the car and they banned him for drug content. lol
Great video. As someone who has been playing Forza since 1 in 2005, it is such a tragic show watching one of the series i love turn to a mickey of itself in such a way that destroys hope on it getting better. I play it on Series X, and going through the events and it is a slog especially with the levelling system for cars. It is such a slog that even I am forcing myself to complete it just so I can do other events.
No the dog shit sound design is wayyyy worse than that. Sound is one of the most important aspects of cars and racing, and so car games. And it affects every aspect of the game. Bad penalty system can easily be improved and only affects PvP
Sound can be important but i often play racing games on mute or turned way down so i can chat w/ the bois. The penalty system on the otherhand effects most online games i play in fm. Having someone pitt me and not get penalized while i get a 6 second penalty for bouncing arond out of my control has made me put the game down for the day more than once.
How to avoid penalties: CUT -> LIFT -> BRAKE -> RAM -> LIFT -> BRAKE -> SMASH -> LIFT -> BRAKE. Just lift, brake, and carry on. The game is looking for your behaviour after the "event". There is no "evaluation" of the event itself.
@@Emira_75their sound really isn't bad if you play with headphones or a surround setup, definitely better sounds than base assetto corsa lmao. The only games I've played that has much better sound than forza is dr2 and the new ea wrc..never played iracing but I would hope they're better for the cost of that game.
Years ago Forza Motorsport offered stuff you couldn't get in gran turismo and vise versa, which is why I preferred Forza more with Motorsport and Horizon. But GT 7 just offers more now with tuning, custom Spoilers etc while FM looks shallow. Very unfortunate for a forza guy like me
I would give anything to have a new Forza thats as polished and complete as FM5 right now. (BTW, side by side FM5 looks better visually in just about every case under the same conditions.)
@@F7COASTERS Forza 6 was better than 5, but was still nothing compare to 2-4 where the dev actually engaged with players and how the game focused heavily on community contents (The best selling point of Forza vs GT at the time). It really felt like a closely tided community back then, the removal of lots of community features since 5 completely destroyed the series. You could say driving is the only thing matter in a racing game, but hell, Forza is a nobody if that's the only thing the series is all about.
@@purwantiallan5089definitely not. FM4 was the last good Forza, while FM7 was the one that tried to compensate what FM5 and FM6 was missing with at least giving players as much cars and tracks that FM4 had
I find that to be a problem with Forza Horizon 4. For me, after getting away with CheatEngine-ing both my CR and Influence to the maximum values, it's become a _depressed millionaire_ simulator.
One other thing not mentioned in the video is how little you can customise and build a car even compared to Horizon 5. No Anti-Lag, no track width adjustment, only 6-Speed race gearboxes... its not just the comparison to GT where its falling down, its the comparison to its sister game. (And let's be hoenst they could have taken every feature straight copy and paste from Horizon in terms of the cars and modifications and nobody would have batted an eye)
Finally deleted it yesterday after finding myself playing a whole 25 minutes after the 2.0 “update”. It really feels cobbled together in 2 years rather any other excuse and I’m glad you said it. Compared to how pretty GT7 is to look at as well as how fun it is to play in just how it feels, this game just feels like it needed another 2 years and a fresh slate. I wanted my socks blown off like fm4, and at least fm5 made me drool on my then new Xbox one.
oh yeah absolutely forza motorsport 5 was absolutely amazing when it came out, such beautiful visuals and we got some nice autovista backstories, in this new forza the garage looks very grey and non inspiring like what is up with that, it looks so dull and boring and in some cases in actual gameplay the ray tracing doesnt work right in xbox series X
Fm4 will never be surpassed, just like the first Forza horizon. Those games come from an long gone era when gameplay came first. Gran Turismo sadly has the same problem, beautiful to watch but hardly a game anymore.
At this point, they should just release Forza Motorsport 4 remastered. I heard somewhere that they might not have been willing to do so because of fear of future sales but now that this is a flop, they could do it to regain some of the lost income from this game
I don't mind seeing new games being remastered into modern hardware, but let's stop at it. You've seen GTA remastered. You've seen Twin Snake (or not), not all remasters are good. Asking for a remaster would not only increase the workload of the people working in, but also those same people might have no idea how it works for the original game and not the remaster. Then it's gonna be a flop again, "I asked this remaster for years and now it's a mess I miss the original game", the loop goes on.
As someone over 50 who’s played racing games since the mid/late 70s, there are certain stand-out moments of when the racing genre has created “wow” moments (Pole Position, Out Run, 3DO Need for Speed, and of course GT as some examples). I didn’t play Forza until #2, but when I did it felt simply like a GT clone. Forza improved for #3, and then truly became its own in Forza 4. Since then it’s been all downhill (I’m surprised you didn’t mention the severely flawed handling of #5, and not much improved in 6). Forza 7 was simply the worst of the GT/Forza games for a variety of reasons. While this new one scales back a bit, I disagree about the handling - I think it’s the one thing they got right. The cars (mostly FWD) that exhibit under steer should in fact have some understeer. However, there are so many other head-scratching decisions made (over 6 years) that truly fail to move the genre forward…the upgrades for one (really, there are zero new options for upgrades and tuning, and why can’t I change the wheel size now?), the system to upgrade the car (which, seems worst in Rivals mode, as I need to drive 100 laps before I get to test a new upgraded car to fully compete),the lack of embracing qualifying/pitstops, or a true race weekend feel for single player mode (see F1 series as an example), and lack of tracks (no Nordschleife? Is this the first simcade game in the last 20 years to not include it day one?). The graphics are such a mixed bag on Series S (I play in visual 30fps mode)… the replays are unbearable with blocky background trees, odd wheel lockups under hard braking. The interior views while driving somehow seem dim while looking out the windshield like it’s got tint on, and the hand/wheel animation is straight from 15 years ago. No changes made to the replay mechanics or photo mode (even in Forzavista). And I’m not the type to get into multiplayer, but decided to give it a go…what a waste of my time to go thru qualifying, building a safety score (highest rating) and waiting for a race to start only to get rammed from behind at the start). Forza 8 is truly a disappointment. Back to F123 now.
Completely agree, brother... I played all the generations of GT and Forza, and love the oddball/offbeat cars and play options in each... Things have clearly gone off the cliff since FM4, (peak automotive gaming imho), yet millions in disposable currency, and promises, later, nothing credible for someone who loves building wacky cars and racing them... Shame.
Once you lag past the car select menu, and load into a race, FM7 has the best on track physics in the whole series and gave me some of the best races i ever had in forza.. but the PI system is a fucking joke the cars are so unmatched if you want to win you have about 50 out of 700 to choose from most of the time.. the fucking menu lag is unacceptable, glitched weather since day one, grass that has more gravitational pull than a black hole, pathetic cosmetic upgrades, the worst AI in history, etc. The thing about 7 is every single aspect about the game is itter garbage except the on track physics.
I'll never understand racing fans who aren't into either iracing, ac, ams2, rfactor 2, or even acc if you're really into gt3. Most of them even have better feeling open wheelers than the F1 series
@@hansolo631 I can't stand online racing, and can't dedicate a ton of hours to video games - so I don't want to build a PC again, or invest tons of hours into iracing, rfactor, etc. ACC is so close to being good on xbox series s/x, but just needs more polish for those of us that want some "assists" (in other words, don't want to dump hours and hours into it - pitstops for one are a frustrating experience). That's where the F1 series has matured into something "racing fans" that are casual (i.e. under 10 hours a week - at most) game players now can fully embrace. In my opinion, it is accessible and captures the sport very well. Forza needs to grow up. The formula hasn't changed, and I'm shocked (not really) that it actually won some award at some video game awards (who votes on it??).
the most frustrating thing about the new forza for me is how it loads so often. Like if I go forward through a menu it will be fine, but if i go back it had to load to go back which is so odd to me.
First off, great video overall. My favorite part was the clown core breakdown. It could be a good start based on the physics (please someone release a complete game)... if they fix the rest. Hearing you say it could have been scraped 3 years in makes a lot of sense and it make me so sad at the same time. Same bugs, less content, and after all this time, they should have just waited again. Let the team actually make something that for racing that is well polished and put together. Teach people about racing as well, and I'm talking more than just cars and history. The older FM games (3 and 4? Maybe even 2?) used to have challenges where you had to dodge slower traffic on segments of track while still hitting a time. I remember those fondly because it taught me a lot of basics about moving through traffic on track and how to position your car to make safe corners or learn new ways to pass slower moving cars. It was like the Gran Turismo Circuit Experience part of the game but with traffic. They need something like that again. If they want to focus on the multiplayer, which has a good base and would be solid place to focus with success stories like GT Sport, they need to elevate how they teach people to participate on the track... They used to have those tools, but they seem to have gone missing since FM5... If they get another shot with the way this is going... hopefully they learn from FH5's turn around, and figure out how to steer the ship in the coming updates.
Ms really f*cked up last year...empty gamepass...this year they had almost nothing than starfield...which i think as a failure too...they had to scrap anything to sell gamepass.
The funny thing is people were speculating something similar about GT7 too, because it clearly was rushed in certain ways, even after the delay. Then Forza comes along and makes it look super-polished.
I really like his point saying that the "true game" might have been scrapped like 2-3 years into development. It makes so much sense to me now because I remember FM5 looking and playing like this game. It does not feel next-gen at all and I was very disappointed, and mislead from all the promotional material which looked awesome. I can say (and it pains me) that FM might be dead.
Times sure have changed.. Ive been a Forza and Battlefield player for a long time. But now, both my favorite games are in the worst state they have ever seen.
This newest one is one of the biggest “mailing it in” games I’ve ever played. From the overly aggressive AI in lap 1, to the horrendous rendering of car colors. I played it a bit hoping it would get better, and maybe fixed with patches, but it never did up until a few weeks ago when I gave up on it. One of the oddest things that I’ve noticed was that in more difficult settings, and being starting further back, I’d spend MOST of my race trying to catch P1, and when I finally passed them, it was like they were driving with the e-brake on.
Everyone please stop saying "it's a great platform they can patch". Releasing a bad game is bad. And if they can make such great patches, why was the game bad? Hint: a poorly managed project does not suddenly become better managed just because launch day happened. If they take years and millions of dollars to "fix" the game... That's just a new game. Make a good game the first time. Then there wouldn't be that awkward bad release phase.
Honestly the poor multi-threading has me really worried. If it's not "built from the ground up" with multi-threading in mind then the software engineers will have an absolute nightmare optimizing the game. When your code reaches a certain size, interdependencies will make rewriting it a lot more difficult.
Amazing video on FM8 and the franchise, I started with FM4 and became a regular on FM6 way past its cycle in circuit racing. Honestly I’d like to see hoppers come back to life and a lot more variety with multiplayer, where’s drift and drag? Where’s cat and mouse? Virus? Tag? I wanna see that again because that’s where the memories were made
FM4 I believe was made for folks who actually like Racing.. not just... Car's... When it was still newish... Anytime I let a friend play, who was super good at NFS... They either.. gave up.. or buckled down and focused on driving better... GT... With that.. since forever ago Controller, the ... Xbox Trigger.. was so much better.. You could actually blush the brakes.. more throttle control...
One funny thing is when you see a 60s f1 car with shifters like modern f1, or the mp4-4 with shifter up and down only. In gt7 you can see the driver putting the gears in a h pattern gearbox...
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And mine is that I’d take unlocking everything the game has to offer through traditional gameplay over micro transactions/pay to win mechanics ANY day.
excuse me bro... it's unbelievable to me that somebody actually likes the game in the state that it is in. Taking 4 hours of running in circles to finally be able to fully upgrade a car is just dumb. This is not content, this is obvious timegating to increase the player retention counter. There is simply nothing to encourage you to run with a single car for that long either. You buy a car for a certain cup, with practices and racing, you would leave the cup at like level 15. You can't do shit with 15 levels worth of car points. And then either your car is now above the event limitation or you want to buy another car, you don't have anywhere to go. You are forced to keep going back and forth the mulsanne straight down at la sarthe for fast points (people probably dont even know about this). This game is just boring and has no replaying value...
Forcing people to drive around needlessly in a car they don't want to drive as-is, to let them have the option to do what they want isn't great. When it's for *every* car, it's inexcusable.
I believe you're right about the game being half scrapped and rebuilt. I know one of the devs, and they mentioned that the campaign mode originally was going to be much more expansive with, iirc, some team management aspects to it, but that all got scrapped. Such a shame really, this game is a hot mess.
Since Forza 5, where they lost the player storefront, having less cars, parts and tracks, and barely any actual improvements on the livery system (and the fact that GT had it now), there was literally nothing left for this series.
Anyone can say anything about GT7, but man sure it displays the love and passion Kaz and Polyphony have for cars. Take out the stupid corporative decisions that Sony made them do (yes, cause I think Sony went to the shit after Jim Ryan take over) GT7 would have been one of the best GTs. Even with that, it's great and they are still making it better. I've played FMs since the 1st in the og Xbox, wich I loved. 4 was the peak for me, and after that it became colder and colder. FM23 it's colder than Walt Disney: you can't see love anywhere, just devs filling orders. And it's very sad, and a disappointment. I really wanted another great FM, but it seems those days are far gone. They even aren't being carefull with Horizon, wich at this rate, it could become another ice cube. Great video dude. Sad, but great.
I agree; in fact, Jim Ryan's resignation gives me hope that future Sony games (including the rumored GT8) will be noticeably better than this generation.
In terms of style and character, I would say FM2 was the best, purely due to the soundtrack. It was a good steer, it was fun to play. About the only good thing with FM3 was the intro music. The bright white menus made it feel bare bones. Removing custom public lobbies destroyed the multiplayer and the Audi S5 finished off what little enjoyment was left. Agreed, FM4 was the peak. Don't remember that having many bad points at all. Does the latest one have cat & mouse and football?! 😝 GT4 will always be the worst GT ever! I don't know why anyone liked it, the handling model was terrible. It also introduced the very sterile menu system and music, which I guess Forza tried to copy. Although it had a lot of content it just had this hollow atmosphere to me. The GT1 menus are memorable 25 years later because of the style and the music, FM23 will be long forgotten by 2050.
My friends and I have had several laughs while playing the new Forza Motorsport and saying "From the ground up" when one of its many flaws bubbled up to the surface. Though I must say, unlike FM7 and similar to GT Sport, I think Forza has done a good job visuals/physics wise that this is a great platform for them to keep improving the game with future content and general patch updates!
no it has not the graphics are still crap, and the car models are still crap, you cant say the game has good graphics with those atrocious car models, part of the graphical fidelity is quite literally how your car looks in game, if my car doesnt look great in game with all the "ray tracing" they claim on my xbox series X then no its not a good visually looking game, theres a guy here on youtube that takes all the car models from forza and compares them to Gran turismo 7 and i swear the headlights even down to the exhaust pipe look so much better in gran turismo 7 as in to say that they look proper and not polygonal with missing details. Currently leading the pack in sound design is The crew Motorfest close behind Project cars 3 this new forza cant even get the Lexus LFA sounding right, this is a complete failure of a racing game that took 6 years of being "built from the ground up" the least they could have done is re-used the sound file from forza horizon 2's car roster
I pray to Odin every day that he may strike down simps who say "great platform they can patch". Stop it. They released a crap game. Here's a hint. If the game was crap, the patches aren't much better. They could just make a new game, do it right this time, and it will still take 4 years and millions of dollars either way.
@@ernestochang1744 Car models are a total travesty for some of the cars no doubt, though I don't feel too bothered by that since I mostly race with the newer/recently scanned GT3/other racecars. Having played the GT3 hopper quite a lot I've actually experienced a great deal of good racing and the graphics have been stellar from my experience so far! Totally get where you're coming from though
What a ridiculous statement. but telling of the times. It would still be a terrible game. But the excuse people still throw out for the game we got that it was rushed would be one that held some measure of weight.
@@Emira_75 Rushed to market? What rush? Virtually every game in every existing franchise is taking at least 3x longer to make and come out now than they ever have. People keep saying games are rushed when theres less and less and they come out slower and slower. They have the time. Its the talent ant passion to make good games thats absent. New games have more time than ever, more resources than ever, more manpower, more money. And yet we get an unfinished mess that may or may not get polished up to a day 1 standard over a period of 1-3 years after release.
Good video my man, you perfectly described what I think of this game aswell, being honest it had all the potential to become a worthy competitor in the scene, but just ended up being what Forza isnt supposed to be, which is sad to see ;_; Also, thank you for using my footage of the replay mode :)
This is mostly the state of the industry as a whole. Game studios sh1t out games like this and we keep buying them. Its our fault. We should stop and maybe pick up old games again or maybe stop gaming all togheter for a couple of years and see if something changes. As long as there no passion in any of this games, theres no point in playing them
Exactly. They keep selling despite being underwhelming garbage. Forza Horizon is good though. I know some people don't like FH5 but I personally really enjoy that game. It's a shame motorsport has fallen so far.
Never played a Forza, just a GT fan disappointed by GT7. The fact that I can hear GT7 being touted as a glowing example of how things should be absolutely blows my mind. This industry is in a state of rot.
Ay I heard that Round About Midnight-Antenna from Midnight Club 2 gotta sub after that! I still play Midnight Club 2 this day, it's more fun than any of the modern racers to me lol. I feel a lot of modern racers are scared to take risks... Hopefully TDU3 wakes up the arcade racing genre.
I went ahead and uninstalled this game today and reinstalled Motorsport 7. Tired of the level up car system, tired of being forced in the lobbies you can't necessarily choose, Hopper lobbies gave me the freedom to pick what I wanted to do it when I wanted to do it. Don't know when if ever I'll install this game again already had some pretty good races on 7 just in the past couple hours playing online
Wanted to play FM4 on Xenia but wanted to " see whats on TH-cam" :) I wont touch FM8, just too many issues. If I want to go more SimRacer I play ProjectCars2 or its sequel Automobilsta 2. The rest of my collection consists of good ArcadeRacers from the last 20 years :) Worst part is, that many saw FM8 as a GT7 competitor and now it released half baked. GT7 has had a recent big update but alot of stuff isnt where it should be. FM8 being mediocre results in no competition for GT7 and PD contiuning being lazy with updates...
another sim you should try out if you haven't already is assetto corsa, with mods you can basically drive any car you can think of at any track you can think of, and physics wise is widly considered the best of any game you can buy.
@@houseking9211 I tried Assetto last year, the mod community is awesome and the possilbilities are endless. However I got rid of Assetto because I didnt like how the cars felt to me. Most cars felt like stiff plates that didnt give much feedback about grip loss and other forces. I know many love this sim but it wasnt for me. To me BeamNG really lets you " feel" a car the best and also PC2 and AM2 show more feedback. Just personal preference.
I also hate how the game isnt very feature rich: 1. what does your race engineer actually do, she doesnt tell me about how far ahead the car infront is, or if the car infront has just pitted for new tires or anything like that. The race engineer in the f1 game is leagues ahead 2. safety cars please? 3. where is the flag system such as yellow flags for an incident ahead, white flag for one lap to go, chequered flag for end of race etc... 4. where are the formation laps or manual starts? 5. why isnt there a endurance race weather planner? 6. lacking the addition of open wheel cars such as formula ford, f4, f3, f2, f1, indy car etc... 7. Iconic tracks like brands hatch, where are they? 8. why cant i see proper tire and brake temperatures on the HUD 9. can we have a story mode, not a career mode. I want to be able to follow specific drivers and their story, the rivalry between racing drivers etc...
I've had a sim rig since the 360. I've played every Forza and Horizon game. I tried the new Forza ONCE and turned it off and that was it. "You've got to be kidding me!" was my response after a few laps. Not going back to it.
I'm a Forza Motorsport 1 OG, playing FM4 a ton lately again. I've never even touched Horizon 1... Was going to try it but saw they got rid of tuning/mechanical damage??? Explains the ever-increasing stupid driving standard you see in Horizon "youtubers" driving with a keyboard or something. Drifting around public roads smashing through obstacles at 180 mph... I thought this was Forza not NFS Most Wanted.
Nice to see heads still playing. I’m working on 100%ing the achievements I was lucky enough to get the Porsche Pack. Started from a fresh save a few months ago.
i completely agree with your views, i was hyped for this and in the end didn't even make a vid on it since i thought it was a waste of time. My opinions around it are similar as with GT7, I think that it is an amazing base for another game to be built upon with more content and a proper campaign, the online is good. Its not obvious that Microsoft seem to care about the game though, whereas with Sony, it is obvious that they want to keep GT alive and will listen to feedback (although it takes a few years haha).
Awesome video my dude. You can tell that you love the series because you know it in and out. I love playing motor sport but for some reason this new one feels like a gt game..very sterile, serious and empty. Forza 2,3 and 4 had so many modes so many ways to play very customizable. Those games shaped itself around how you want to play. This new forza forces you to play thier way. That right there is what separated forza from gt. I guess with horizon turn 10 figured they could go more hardcore with motorsport..
Something that unfortunately wasn't discussed is Force Feedback. When I compare it directly with Assetto Corsa Competizione, it's like night and day. In ACC I have very precise force feedback, in FM8 it's quite spongy and vague. At least I have the impression that it has been implemented very inconsistently. The default settings for force feedback were completely garbage. A customized configuration brought a significant improvement, but this generally spongy feeling unfortunately remained.
Nah, the carpg is trash. If you look at it through *just the window of, say, single player progression or the limited multiplayer events with limited locked car builds then maybe I could see your point, but when you look at it beyond that it just falls apart and blue balls you constantly. Any open multiplayer or rivals event is completely broken for multiple hours by it, and that assumes you stick with one car. Some events could have hundreds of potential car choices. Good luck to anyone trying to work out what they want to drive in those, because you'll need hundreds of hours just to even try them.
@@Metsudo82 Yeah, I see your point too. Making players level their cars to effectively participate in multiplayer doesn't make sense. Would be much better if for online races all players were given with same xp and same unlocked parts with same PI restriction.
@@FooFighter477 Don't get me wrong, I can see why someone would like the progression aspect of the new system, some people like having to work for stuff. It just doesn't gell well with the other pre-established aspects of the game, especially when you factor in the large number of cars.
Overall a great video! Keep it up! Would have liked to see something about the AI, which in my opinion was really bad around the release. (No idea if it's still that bad since i stopped playing) Also i don't really think that the physics were built "from the ground up". There are too many similarities between the new Forza Motorsport and the older Titles. I mean... even most of the old "setup hacks" still worked at release... :)
I would have said something about the AI, but the longer I played the game, the more i realized just how similar they were to the older FM AI, just a little quicker. That and the physics I'd say have changed at least some, cause when I talked with top tier players they tell me about all the differences between this and how FM7 felt
@@Fastminer07 Yeah the AI ist kinda similar but i think especially at release it was hilariously bad and aggressive. Like literally half of the cars would crash into Turn 1 in some races. After that it got quite calm. Yeah the physics changed and it feels different but i can't imagine, that they were built from the ground up. It's more like a patchwork of good things from older titles plus some changes to make it different :) That was at least what i felt. For me fhe game overall is not worth it's money. :) I mean i didn't really have the hype for Forza Horizon 5 and still played it for a good amount of hours but the new fm got uninstalled after around 20 hours because it was just not fun enough for me :)
You couldn’t be more right with this video I do have Xbox series X but enjoy pc little more. I played this on pc AMD 7800x3d with 7900xt with 32gb and was not impressed with graphics. You bring up great points in this video💯
The funniest thing about the aero wash is that it is backwards, the wash is somehow affecting the car leading the pack instead of the cars inside/behind the pack.
The driving assists werent for blind people specifically. The Blind accessibility is a separate set of narrated and sound based assists and feedback. The driving assists were ported over from FH5. And had just as much controversy with their implementation there. And a last thought: Microsoft will absolutely NOT take this the right way. I'll bet real money their exact takeaway is that the simcade market isnt worth it, and that Horizon is all people want now. Not that Motorsport is insultingly bad.
I don't know how right you are about aerowash not being very strong IRL when racing full sized race cars, but in kart racing you get a massive advantage drafting behind another kart. I can't imagine that it would be negligable with a larger car.
I think they did everything right in Forza Motorsport 4!I think at this point the best car paint job artists probably left and maybe most of the best tuners that actually put their tunes to public access!
Hey bro. Nice video And my opinion is mostly the same. I want to tell my experience. This Forza Motorsport is probably the most disappointing game I've played in 2023, and the most disappointing racing game since Gran Turismo 5 in 2021 (I've already played GT6 which I really liked, but I was disappointed with 5 when I was told the game was way better than 6) But at least with the pass of time, I find out enjoyment from GT5 (even if it's still the worst one for me alongside the first one) GT aside, let's talk about THIS Forza: I didn't play too many games from 2023, but what I did played, I had a blast with them (those being Dead Space Remake (my GOTY) and Mortal Kombat 1), and I had the opportunity to play Forza. The first minutes aren't bad exactly, because the driving and physics in controller are actually pretty good themselves. And Maple Valley indeed looks stunning the first time you play. But there's also some problems. First, the tutorials felt so fucking long and there's no way to make them shorter or skip them at all. I know that if I change tires, the car has more grip, please... And second, in the intro of the Builders Cup, you cannot set the car as you want, even if you have the Car Points, you HAVE to only use the auto upgrade. That was a letdown to me. And yes, Maple Valley looked stunning, but it appears that the game have instances where it looks great, and in many others it looks somehow worse than NFS Hot Pursuit from 2010. I still don't understand when the reviewers say the game looks fantastic. The AI wasn't great either. They're pretty dumb when they're in groups, and once you overtake them, they just give up. The career mode is repetitive and uninspired. The graphics, considering the hardware, are really unimpressive for the most part. The AI is bad. The upgrade system is a mess...but the worst part of all of this, is that... The game is completely soulless. I have played games that I really disliked, but at least those games had their charisma. Forza Motorsport doesn't have that, and that's the worst part of it. Definitely, my "worst" game played in 2023.
I'm hoping that Forza or turn 10 does this, admit why it took so long for this game and what are the problems in the work place because this game has so much potential but they did it so wrong. But this is just me
For a simcade title the physics are fine I quite enjoyed lapping in road cars on a gamepad, but when I tried with my Fanatec DD it felt off every car slides around like they are on skates and the FFB is terrible- stay away from this game if you like using wheel and pedals 22:12 (great video!!!)
I can't believe I watched your whole 37 minute video, but I did. You make some interesting points. The last "track" racing game that really stunned and impressed me was Gran Turismo 5 for PS3.... back in the free multiplayer days.... Looks like I'm skipping track-based racing for now and sticking with Forza Horizon 5. As far as the vehicle upgrades go, I agree with you... I understand and appreciate what they were trying to do... but they clearly did not think it through.
In horizon I had so many cars, it was so boring to progress, gain new cars and do something with them. With the improved XP gain I'm really enjoying the progression. Having the upgrade in stages would imo actually break the system further. Let's say I choose a car at the beginning of a stretch of career events right now. I can pick a musclecar and once I unlock I'd slap maximum handling and weight reduction on it. The graphics however are hot garbage ... no two ways about it. I play on my Xbox SX and whenever i switch to my PS5 for GT7 I get confronted with the difference again.
I'm a forza guy and on past releases I would always feel it was on par if not better than GT. But this gen I feel I'm playing Forza beta that still needs at least one year of work to get it where it need to be. Having to config the force feedback on my wheel cause stock values are useless, as well as having to bump saturation on my Dell monitor to 80 to get anywhere near GT7 vibrant colors.😢😢
Now I have been playing the Forza Motorsport series since the beginning, and I have to say that it is kinda disappointing how a reboot of the Motorsport game turned out to be a real mess. From how buggy it is to just it being overall “soulless”. To be honest, I actually never thought that people actually cared about how the cars looked like. Especially if we’re talking about realistic proportions. But I guess in this day and age of gaming graphics the expectations is only going upwards for a lot of people. But hey I guess with the certain time periods it really sucks how game developers have little time to get it all right since that it’s much harder for them to get it all right in today’s gaming. Well since that this is only just the reboot game, who knows if this was just a trial run for the REAL Forza Motorsport 8 in the future. Kinda like how we had Gran Turismo Sport first before the real GT7 came along! But that’s just me thinking.
I'm having a blast playing the game on my PC with my Direct Drive "sim" rig on Ultra Wide Monitors. Initially, there were some bugs causing session crashes during the first week, but those are now gone. I'm particularly enjoying the online racing aspect, especially coming from I-Racing. Multiplayer racing is my thing, and Forza Motorsport delivers a lot of excitement with its Open Spec racing. I'm eagerly anticipating the weekly leagues. However, I find the car leveling system a bit awkward
18:04 thanks for using my footage of FM4 and great work on this video! 💯 Funnily enough, we still play FM4 online weekly. The new Forza Motorsport is a huge disappointment and quite an insult to fans of the series. I have my issues with things that aren't that important to some, but to me, they are. Such as a split second loading screen when switching between players in a replay! As someone who has commentated races in FM7, I wasn't shocked that they recycled this unnecessary element into FM8. It's been the same since FM1 from 2005. On FM7, I went as far as using another Xbox account on another console and spectated from 2 accounts so that I could capture both and change players on the other account while it wasn't being shown to everyone. This is how I achieved smooth transitions when changing between players while spectating. 🙃
FM4... Even if my Xbox didn't consume it, the Door won't open.. After playing FM7... I'm glad to just play FM4... Test and Tune, was the drive for me... Making a Car Better... For my own driving style..
Been really enjoying the game myself. Have been trying really hard to abuse the setups and find new one on different tracks for GT cars. At least in that class, I have had a wonderful time. The physics on those cars is very good. You can feel all 4 tires and how the setup changes them. Tire temp coaligns with camber, pressure and I think springs. The racing even starting from the back is usually clean. Most of the crashes and stuff and just bad drivers simply put. If you don’t want that issue qualify towards the front. Penalty system, it actually works when you have clean racing. The system only check if you gained time on any off track so if you go over limit just rationalize whether or not you gained and lift before the check finishes. 9/10 times you’re not getting a penalty. -Yes it can be abused. Players can drive you off track and force you to cut and take penalties. Outside of GT class. It’s meh. I find a lot of more asshole. In the faster cars all they have is a faster projectile to hit you with. And in slower cars you have less downforce to not spin💀. It truly is doomed. The downfall isn’t a forza issue it’s a community issue. People on here are childish. (Not the GT class you guys rock)
Funny I've had the opposite experience. GT has been demolition derby with everyone ramming each other, but the open class racing where you have to build your car has been fun and mostly clean
@@super-kami-guru Issue with build your car class is rather than a field separated by skill it’s a field separated by exp and skill. My issues have been with drivers who dive bomb/overshoot heavy breaking zones after I pass them on straight because of upgraded engine power. I a player from ACC and Iracing I enjoy spec racing more so could just be bias blinding me. Overall I think it’s great me and you have seperate view point in different series. Shows the games 100% improving community wise.
I agree with everything you said, and can only add that getting in a race with 'clean' drivers is near impossible, despite having a good safety rating. This is the main deal breaker for me. I am not good enough to be in pole and immune to the mayhem, and I am too old to play destruction derby.
Thank you 🙏 someone that shares my feelings, as someone that plays FM since the 1st one this last entry was the worst i have ever played by far, and probably the last one i will ever pre order or pay deluxe edition for.. i felt robbed... less cars, way less tracks, sad and limited career mode that looks good only on an arcade racer, bugs, glitches, broken AI and an Online mode that is as broken as its penalty system.. sad times.
The only thing I could see was the accessibility award, because I'm not sure if any other game in 2023 made as big a stride in accessibility as Forza, but racing/sports game of the year is a joke.
@@Swag_K1RBYRecognizeable, There are games that are better than Forza like Asetto Corsa Competizione and F1 2023. But whatever.... "Don't Judge a book by it's cover"
The game is getting better, lately i enjoy playing the multiplayer but there are a lot of issues. The campaign is horrible, the stock cars are undrivable and the game itself is build for controllers ( something is of with the wheel Support even after a lot of time tuning the settings). For me the graphics are not that great, the color contrast is very bad and you cant change it like in a normal game. Good video, Keep the good work 👍
Yeah, the only unfortunate part about making this video so soon after the games release is that I expect at least some parts of this to be fixed/improved upon in the coming months
as an adult with other things to do the "car mastery" is a huge ball buster for me. I just want to log on race some cars supped up cars i cant afford against some AI...not grind cars for multiple hours.
9:14 I couldn't have never expected licensed music from MIDNIGHT CLUB II OF ALL PLACES to show up in a TH-cam video not directly related to the game. Truly a beautiful surprise! This guy *KNOWS* his racing games, and that song inclusion alone made every point you brought up against the new Forza Motorsport stick much more, knowing how well versed you are with all types of racing games.
Tbf, even though racing games are my main thing, I actually hadn't played MC2 in particular until recently (I grew up with 3 and LA), but I did a deep dive into all 4 entries in the series right before this, Great games all round.
@Fastminer07 Yup, I remember subscribing to your channel after seeing that video. Not gonna lie, I hadn't put two and two together until that part on this video, but like I said before, I really value your opinion on racing games since you cast a pretty wide net in terms of games you've played. I know I can trust your video essay on Forza Motorport 💯
I actually love the new forza (played em all..) and before I got the game I didn’t like the idea to drive the car to get more points for upgrade but now after actually playing the game I kind of love it. You learn what upgrades do instead of having all upgrades at once and straight go to max upgrade everything and get bored. The newest car models are hella beautiful. I don’t really agree with much here but I have just always loved the way the cars handle in forza. I have not seen the bugs talked about here but I’m only maybe 20 hours in or so.
As someone who had GT 3 & Forza 3 & Forza Horizon playing on both consoles, at the time they were really serious adversaries, crafting as good a game as each studio could possibly make, with the tech available to them at the time. I fek'n loved both games for their uniqueness. Then came the modern online, & micro-transaction era, which really killed in-game quality of life, & made the games practically unaffordable to the serious players, sort like how EA Sports/EA Games did. (yes, Mass effect: Andromeda I'm picking on you again) The most recent game I uninstalled, & basically divorced outright was Destiny 2. (the day before sunsetting was implemented) It was ssssooooooo good, for so long, until it...[expletive deleted] Outstanding comprehensive breakdown of Forza's strengths & weaknesses. Fantastic video!
Bro was floating at 18:41 Anyways I liked your take on the upgrade system and how you would improve it. Believe it or not I actually had a similar idea as to how I would improve it. I also used a NFS game as an example as well. The game that I was thinking of was NFS Heat. You know how in Heat most of the upgrades were locked behind rep? (I think it was rep I'm not too sure because I haven't played the game in awhile). They had some upgrades that were available, they were more of the slower ones but the game at least gives you the option to buy them. You unlock the locked upgrades by simply progressing throughout the game. And once you unlock them they're unlocked forever. Doesn't matter if you sell the car or buy a new one because they're unlocked forever across all cars. But if players still think that is too long. Just attached the upgrades to your player level and have all the upgrades be unlocked one by one every time you level up. I feel like FM could've had something similar like this. I do agree that the upgrade system isn't the worst idea in the world. It's how it was executed which caused its downfall. I personally think it was probably the idea of having every car start from level 0. Even if you get a duplicate which sucks. If they would've just made it to where every car doesn't reset after leveling it up. For example you have one car that's level 10. You buy another and its also level 10 instead of level 0. I think that would've been much better. But that's just my idea on how I would improve it. I agree with pretty much everything else you said in the video. Especially when you were talking about the development time. I also don't believe that this game took 6 years to make. In my eyes, it looked like it was put together in less than 2 years. But if it really did take 6 years. Then that's crazy especially with all the bugs, glitches, and crashes it had. This game never should've been released if it was going to be like this. But Great video tho. I really liked the font you used it really pops out a lot 🔥
I used to be a huge Xbox fan, all franchises, and I loved Forza. And I won't change my opinion for anything in this world! Phil Spencer didn't save the Xbox, Phil Spencer brought the dark ages to the Xbox and all these IPs. Gears is dead, Halo is Dead and Forza is a huge disappointment. Phil should be fired.
My biggest problem with this game is the way they've designed progression to work through levelling up your car to unlock new modifications has made the career mode kinda boring. They say it's to build your affinity with the car, but I find that you only use that car for one championship and then you buy a new one to do the next championship. So you only build your relationship with that car for a few races and swap it out for a new one. In the old system that they had in the previous games, you kept the car for longer. You earned money to buy upgrades and over time built the car into something better. And you also got to feel that the car was yours, that you actually had a relationship with it. Now it just feels like cars are disposable commodities that you buy, race for a series and then forget about.
It doesn't matter how good in theory the multiplayer can be, the community around forza is too dirty, it's not even a meme. Having 90% of your races ruined by being shunted by other players isn't fun, never even attempted to try multiplayer after my experience with FM7 online.
Studios keep trying to reinvent the wheel when all we want is a fun career mode, good physics, and no lies
I think the last time we got a good, original career mode was either NFS: Hot Pursuit, FH1, or the first Crew
In a nutshell.
Thatˋs good said.

Yessss Muyee i totally agree

Forza 7 had the most docile ai, so boring to drive. I think the new game did a much better job
Yea, always at the very first turn of the race, generally it's less likely to just ram the shit out of you after that point.

Forza Motorsport 4 was the height of the series and it needs a miracle now to recover from the swamp it's in now.

Here's a suggestion for bonding a player to their car:
1st: Don't throw cars after them like cheap candy.
What's crazy is the game you're describing already exists. It's called Gran Turismo and it came out in 1997 LOL
The only thing more disappointing is my driving...

“It’s a new game of course it’ll have bugs”
“Don’t like it? Don’t play it.”
“Make your own game”
Like bro.
6 years of dev time
20 years experience
12 games of experience
And they can’t fuckin get it right?
Customization system is shit. I don’t need to spend hours learning to drive every car I want to upgrade. Especially when the PI system keeps you from max upgrading a car for every race anyway, like it always did.
Clutch system is shit. Performance H pattern cars shift like a 30 year old pickup. And DCT, DSG, auto cars (mk5 Supra, ford gt, Lexus lfa) all shift with stock trans as if they’re H pattern cars.
Missing 470 cars from FM7
Missing tracks
Campaign is stupid. Why drip feed content? It’s not for retention cause FM7 had me still coming back to it years later. FM has me not playing it till more gets added cause I’ve already beat the main campaign. And since I can’t upgrade any cars I want, when I want, I don’t want to stay on the game grinding each car for hours just to make a drift/drag car
Missing drag and drift features
Missing open air field lobby
Have to back out to main menu to change cars when in free play, while FM7 was instantly in the pre lobby)
The literal only upgrade is the physics. Everything else is either the same as previous, or a downgrade. This game is a disappointment
Amen. The small children calling us 'boomers' in the steam reviews have lost it.
"You can't do any better yourself" has always been the dumbest argument. I'm pretty sure it was Roger Ebert who said something along the lines of "I don't have to be a chef to know what bad food tastes like".
The current Forza fanboys are in a sort of Stockholm syndrom. Godforbid you view the quality for what it is.
this new Forza Motorsport feels a bit rushed
NIce comment and it applies to any game franchise . Forza Motorsport 8 : Let's get all Hate ( limited edition 2024 )
FM3 & 4 were the best ones I think.
The biggest flaw with this game is the penalty system online constantly getting penalised when someone else hits me
No the dog shit sound design is wayyyy worse than that.
It makes the game unplayable
Years ago Forza Motorsport offered stuff you couldn't get in gran turismo and vise versa, which is why I preferred Forza more with Motorsport and Horizon. But GT 7 just offers more now with tuning, custom Spoilers etc while FM looks shallow. Very unfortunate for a forza guy like me
Since the suicidal plunge of Forza 5, FM as a series had never quite recover from its rock bottom state, if not finding new lows.
I would give anything to have a new Forza thats as polished and complete as FM5 right now.
(BTW, side by side FM5 looks better visually in just about every case under the same conditions.)
Fm6 was fun
@@F7COASTERS Forza 6 was better than 5, but was still nothing compare to 2-4 where the dev actually engaged with players and how the game focused heavily on community contents (The best selling point of Forza vs GT at the time).
It really felt like a closely tided community back then, the removal of lots of community features since 5 completely destroyed the series. You could say driving is the only thing matter in a racing game, but hell, Forza is a nobody if that's the only thing the series is all about.
@@apophisstr6719FM6 so far is the last good Forza whilst 7 is the last "Half Decent" Forza.
@@purwantiallan5089definitely not. FM4 was the last good Forza, while FM7 was the one that tried to compensate what FM5 and FM6 was missing with at least giving players as much cars and tracks that FM4 had
The biggest flaw with this game is that it's just plain boring.
Yeah horizon 5 was pretty and all, but i just didnt feel the same as horizon 4. It felt empty. 4 will always be my favorite
@@sethschneider9764 Thing I loved about Forza horizon 4 is that it's map and radio station.
Fm4 will never be surpassed, just like the first Forza horizon. Those games come from an long gone era when gameplay came first.
Gran Turismo sadly has the same problem, beautiful to watch but hardly a game anymore.
Bye!
At this point, they should just release Forza Motorsport 4 remastered. I heard somewhere that they might not have been willing to do so because of fear of future sales but now that this is a flop, they could do it to regain some of the lost income from this game
If they do they'll probably do the bare minimum to actually remaster it
I don't mind seeing new games being remastered into modern hardware, but let's stop at it.
Please no. FM4 is a very limited racing game in 2023 terms
Racing games are hard to remaster unlike other genres because of license issues so I doubt that
No. Enough with the damn remasters.
All cars after 1990 should have built in understeer... it's how cars are built from the factory including RWD
The 21 sec penalty along with "We've been DQ'd" has me dying XD
You Watanabe also encountered 30 second time penalty during Forza Motorsport 8 online race.
"Your total time penalty is 30 seconds". 😂
I normally don't comment on videos, but this was a damn good vid, excellently said and edited, it all just looks very well put together.
I grade this A+. Whilst Forza Motorsport 8 in general is very low at F.
The fact you have to be logged on Internet to play it even in single player mode is a big no for me ! 100 $ for this ? Hell no, GFY Forza !
Just because a bad game can be patched into something good, that doesn't mean it will. Seen it too where patches make things worse.
How is it even a bad game? Wtf I haven’t turned my PS5 and GT7 on since release, it’s called an opinion as I and many others love the game
You seriously think this is a bad game? Then you haven't played an actually bad game.
@@david-spliso1928have you played a great game?
@@oxolotleman7226TURN 10 never gonna will make Forza Motorsport 8 a great game even after 3.0 updates.
Virus? Tag? I wanna see that again because that’s where the memories were made
I think Forza Mororsport 4 was the peak. Best most accurate sounds, the Fujimi Kaido tough circuit, and I love the physics. I still play it.
I've been saying all along since this game came out. They should have just remade Forza 4 with today's technology
I agree, tho I think the only game that still has a system that egregious is iRacing, The rich mans Racing Sim
But it could have been done so much better tbh
i hate that we even mention those 2 in the same sentence, i hate that pay to win mechanics became so normal in gaming...
excuse me bro... it's unbelievable to me that somebody actually likes the game in the state that it is in.
Can confirm, my uncle works at turn10
I've been playing the latest forza, and while graphics are cool, it lacks depth. It's just meh. Nothing special.
AND THE REPLAYS ARE STILL BROKEN
Since Forza 5, where they lost the player storefront, having less cars, parts and tracks, and barely any actual improvements on the livery system (and the fact that GT had it now), there was literally nothing left for this series.
Was not expecting that Clown Core drop. Not only a mf do a great video on the best subgenre of games available, he also have a fire music taste.
GT4 will always be the worst GT ever!
@@fikridroidGRAN TURISMO 8 maybe gonna be like downgraded GT6.
But the sound design is soooo shite. Especially poor and disappointing when you compare it to Horizon 5
@@Emira_75Horizon 1 sounded better even :/
no it has not the graphics are still crap, and the car models are still crap, you cant say the game has good graphics with those atrocious car models, part of the graphical fidelity is quite literally how your car looks in game, if my car doesnt look great in game with all the "ray tracing" they claim on my xbox series X then no its not a good visually looking game, theres a guy here on youtube that takes all the car models from forza and compares them to Gran turismo 7 and i swear the headlights even down to the exhaust pipe look so much better in gran turismo 7 as in to say that they look proper and not polygonal with missing details.
Selling a game as "built from the ground up" and reusing the same models from two generations ago is an insult to players!
Well, people still bought into that shit after they saw that Forza wing on the Miata, so...
That's just one of the issues with the game, to be honest.
The problem arrives when you notice that the rest of the game is just completely bad

It's a shame motorsport has fallen so far.

another sim you should try out if you haven't already is assetto corsa, with mods you can basically drive any car you can think of at any track you can think of, and physics wise is widly considered the best of any game you can buy.
I also hate how the game isnt very feature rich:
1. what does your race engineer actually do, she doesnt tell me about how far ahead the car infront is, or if the car infront has just pitted for new tires or anything like that. The race engineer in the f1 game is leagues ahead
2. safety cars please?
3. where is the flag system such as yellow flags for an incident ahead, white flag for one lap to go, chequered flag for end of race etc...
4. where are the formation laps or manual starts?
5. why isnt there a endurance race weather planner?
6. lacking the addition of open wheel cars such as formula ford, f4, f3, f2, f1, indy car etc...
7. Iconic tracks like brands hatch, where are they?
8. why cant i see proper tire and brake temperatures on the HUD
9. can we have a story mode, not a career mode.
I have 500 hours in FH5. I played FM8 for less than an hour and I’m good. Biggest waste of money this year.
Yeah I agree. I am like level 125 on FH5. Forza is such a letdown.@@xp50player
I've had every single bug you've highlighted since playing the game including the replay camera during the race.
I heard you being mentioned in a video on another channel and had to come over to check you out. Great channel you got there, sir.
Who was it, cause I wanna check them out too
The driving itself is nice.
So is new CarPG system - at least IMO.
Too bad they forgot to make the rest of the game.
@@FooFighter477
Don't get me wrong, I can see why someone would like the progression aspect of the new system, some people like having to work for stuff. It just doesn't gell well with the other pre-established aspects of the game, especially when you factor in the large number of cars.
Overall a great video! Keep it up!
Would have liked to see something about the AI, which in my opinion was really bad around the release. (No idea if it's still that bad since i stopped playing)
Also i don't really think that the physics were built "from the ground up".
You couldn’t be more right with this video
I do have Xbox series X but enjoy pc little more.
I played this on pc AMD 7800x3d with 7900xt with 32gb and was not impressed with graphics.
You bring up great points in this video💯
9:20 didnt Expect Antenna- Round About Midnight to start Playing, Classic Midnightclub 2 Soundtrack. You have good taste.
The funniest thing about the aero wash is that it is backwards, the wash is somehow affecting the car leading the pack instead of the cars inside/behind the pack.
Didn't expect to hear Clown Core in a Forza video. Excellent taste... 👌
Not that Motorsport is insultingly bad.
sadly, one must remember.
daddy microsoft wants his paycheck
I don't know how right you are about aerowash not being very strong IRL when racing full sized race cars, but in kart racing you get a massive advantage drafting behind another kart. I can't imagine that it would be negligable with a larger car.
That's just slipstream, that's not aerowash
The Forza motorsports 2/3 era of online gameplay was peak. I couldnt believe after plugging in my xbox for Forza 5 how bad it was.
I think they did everything right in Forza Motorsport 4!I think at this point the best car paint job artists probably left and maybe most of the best tuners that actually put their tunes to public access!
by far the best FM and my favorite racing game ever. It's insane it came out 12 YEARS AGO and is pretty much better in every way
Hey bro. Nice video
And my opinion is mostly the same.
I want to tell my experience. This Forza Motorsport is probably the most disappointing game I've played in 2023, and the most disappointing racing game since Gran Turismo 5 in 2021 (I've already played GT6 which I really liked, but I was disappointed with 5 when I was told the game was way better than 6)
But at least with the pass of time, I find out enjoyment from GT5 (even if it's still the worst one for me alongside the first one)
GT aside, let's talk about THIS Forza:
I didn't play too many games from 2023, but what I did played, I had a blast with them (those being Dead Space Remake (my GOTY) and Mortal Kombat 1), and I had the opportunity to play Forza.
Another great video. Truly an EmpLemon of racing.

After playing FM7...
I'm glad to just play FM4...

Shows the games 100% improving community wise.
yeah idk game is fun to me. sure penalties make no sense, but ive been doing leagues and the racing has been great
The game has some great mp matches
I really enjoy your content man, keep up the good work :)
I agree with everything you said, and can only add that getting in a race with 'clean' drivers is near impossible, despite having a good safety rating. This is the main deal breaker for me. I am not good enough to be in pole and immune to the mayhem, and I am too old to play destruction derby.
Hardly the fault of Turn 10 that there are pillocks playing it online.
Thank you 🙏 someone that shares my feelings, as someone that plays FM since the 1st one this last entry was the worst i have ever played by far, and probably the last one i will ever pre order or pay deluxe edition for.. i felt robbed... less cars, way less tracks, sad and limited career mode that looks good only on an arcade racer, bugs, glitches, broken AI and an Online mode that is as broken as its penalty system.. sad times.
The fact that they literally lied to our faces saying "built from the ground up" tell you all you need to know. It aint just the car models...
This won 2 awards at the TGA like what the hell like good for Microsoft winning for once with HI FI Rush but FORZA DOENST DESERVE THIS
Lying to your own Fans, Old Car Models, Bugy mess release...
What a world ...
The only thing I could see was the accessibility award, because I'm not sure if any other game in 2023 made as big a stride in accessibility as Forza, but racing/sports game of the year is a joke.
@@Fastminer07 either they chose it because it’s more recognizable or it’s just there’s barely competition
10:51 that Father Time instrumental was a nice surprise. As well as the midnight club 2 music a bit before. Nice job

(yes, Mass effect: Andromeda I'm picking on you again)
The most recent game I uninstalled, & basically divorced outright was Destiny 2. (the day before sunsetting was implemented) It was ssssooooooo good, for so long, until it...[expletive deleted]
Outstanding comprehensive breakdown of Forza's strengths & weaknesses. Fantastic video!
Bro was floating at 18:41
Anyways I liked your take on the upgrade system and how you would improve it.
This guy brings me smiles
I used to be a huge Xbox fan, all franchises, and I loved Forza.
And I won't change my opinion for anything in this world!
Phil Spencer didn't save the Xbox, Phil Spencer brought the dark ages to the Xbox and all these IPs.
Gears is dead, Halo is Dead and Forza is a huge disappointment.
Phil should be fired.
-Say the line, Microsoft!
-Built from the ground up
-Yaaaaay!
Now it just feels like cars are disposable commodities that you buy, race for a series and then forget about.
this
It doesn't matter how good in theory the multiplayer can be, the community around forza is too dirty, it's not even a meme. Having 90% of your races ruined by being shunted by other players isn't fun, never even attempted to try multiplayer after my experience with FM7 online.
Aero wash doesn't exist, you're just crumbling under pressure 🤭
